|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Now available for a 3 day minimum during summer. This unique property is centrally located in northern Wisconsin between three premier destinations, Minocqua, Rhinelander, and Tomahawk, on the shores of East Horsehead Lake. East Horsehead Lake has 185 acres of very clear water and is well suited for all water activities including fishing, swimming, pleasure boating, water skiing, tubing, water craft, canoeing, and kayaking, and is on the Rhinelander area snowmobile trail connecting it to all Northwoods destinations.
The property boasts: an impressive panoramic view down the entire length of the lake with north and northwest exposure excellent for enjoying the morning sunrise and evening sunset. The 185-foot private sand shore has a gentle slope and is excellent for swimming and water fun. Relish a relaxing evening on the front deck after a day of fun while enjoying the sunset and lakefront view.
We enjoyed kayaking every day! It is a major plus that the property has 2 kayaks, canoe and paddle boat. We swam, spent time on the dock (we brought beach chairs), ate out on the deck (deck table seats 4) and enjoyed fires at the fire pit. We saw loons, Eagles, and deer. The cabin furniture is comfortable and the kitchen table seats 8. Brian the owner came and fixed the screen door to the deck which was much appreciated since it is the only door/window that opens facing the lake. The view of the lake from the deck and living room/kitchen is beautiful. We enjoyed fishing off the dock. The trailhead to the Bearskin Trail is on Hwy K a mile from Hwy 51, a close drive from the property. It is awesome for hiking or biking. A map and information can be obtained at the Cenex gas station on Hwy K and 51. The Crimson Cafe in Rhinelander is a great place for breakfast/lunch. Thank you Brian for a great stay at your property and for the helpful information/links page!
We (myself, my husband, and our 11 year old son) just returned from this fantastic place. The lake was clear and calm, perfect for swimming (went across the lake and back a few times and met a really nice couple on the other side!) and kayaking (we were so grateful for the kayaks!). The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Loved the fire pit, and grilled dinner each night on the back deck. Would love to return soon!
We had so much fun staying at this cabin. The lake was gorgous, and everyone is so friendly! We were able to rent a pontoon for the day and enjoy some fun on the water as well. The cabin also comes with a canoe, two kayaks, and a paddle boat. The setting is just beautiful!
The property is absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't have asked for a better setting, especially with regards to the weather (was all just about perfect save for about 2 hours late Saturday night). About the only note of caution would just be planning around the fact there's only 1 bathroom (if you have a bigger party like we did, patience is a virtue!)
First time renting this property and it was a great experience. We rented this place for a guys ice fishing trip. Nice quaint location up in the 'Northwoods' yet close enough to Minocqua and Rhinelander if you needed anything from town. Property was exactly as described. Very comfortable for our party of 6. The kitchen had more than enough of what we needed for cooking & prepping. We didn't need it but having the washer and dryer on site would have been convenient had we needed it. The location was great on the lake, just down the shore from a bar and a main snowmobile trail and steps from the lake. Fishing was not the greatest but I would like to revisit this lake and/or property during the open water season as our timing/local weather conditions may have been off and my research online & with a local guide said this lake was decent for several fish species. The property instructions call it out but do plan ahead/prep for taking your garbage with you when you leave. We brought extra garbage bags with us but there were some available onsite with the rental.
This was a cozy cabin with a nice, secluded area surrounding. The property was beautiful in the winter with plenty of snow for snow shoeing. The warm winter didn't make for the best ice fishing, but there was some in the bay, although the fish just weren't biting during our stay.
Overall, it was a great visit although be forewarned if going in the winter, plowing is not reliable and there are quite a few hills, so make sure you're prepared!
The lake house is the perfect getaway and only a short drive from shopping centers, restaurants, and parks. The Northwoods area offers an abundance of attractions and activities.
