About the property

Please feel free to call the owner with any questions you might have--707 963-5589. Casa Cabernet is located in the country, just outside of St. Helena, "the beating heart of Northern California Wine Country." Casa Cabernet is a very private cottage/home on five acres of land. It is a one bedroom and furnished in a country casual way, with an exceptionally large living/dining room and well equipped kitchen, all with a fireplace in view. All rooms open onto a patio and grape arbor with two picnic tables.

Guests have the exclusive use of the owner's beautiful swimming pool and the gardens.

This architect designed home is in the heart of wine country and is surrounded by 42 plus acres of vineyards and lovely gardens designed by renown landscape architect, Thomas Church.

Everything is included-high speed wireless internet access, Sonos Sound System, Sony Flat Screen TV, wood for the fireplace, a gardener, a once a week maid/ linen service, bottled water, and all utilities except telephone. Other amenities include complimentary wine and terry robes.

It is within walking distance of more than 6 wineries as well as Dean & DeLuca, the famous gourmet market. Casa Cabernet is approximately 2 miles from the town of St. Helena. The views are spectacular with fields of grapes and gorgeous

mountains as a backdrop. There are excellent

restaurants. It's the perfect place to relax. You are removed from the congestion and noise of town living, but within close proximity to the town of St. Helena.

Ca. Home and Design Magazine says "ST. HELENA IS A NAPA VALLEY creative enclave that, though only a quick drive from San Francisco, feels a million miles away from the bustle of the big city. It's there, in the beating heart of Northern California's Wine Country, that people go to relax, to enjoy fantastic food and even better vintages, and to escape the manic pace of the day-to-day

"2016-2017 RATES The one month rate is $4 750, all inclusive. That translates to a daily rate of $158.00 per day. For stays of 6 months or longer, the rate is $3,750 per month. That daily rate is $125.00. In addition, there is a damage deposit of $1,500. Should you wish to stay a partial month, the rate is the same. All other expenses related to the rental are paid by the owner--weekly cleaning with professionally laundered linens, bottled water, wood for the fireplace, and all utilities including high speed internet.

I do not accept pets of any kind. It is a non-smoking environment.

The Napa Valley is pastoral and picturesque with acres of grapes and many wineries. The Valley sits between the eastern and western slopes and mountains. Casa Cabernet is located in the premier Rutherford appellation. The cottage is approximately 2 miles from the town of St. Helena, 2 miles from Rutherford, 18 miles from the city of Napa, and approximately 66 miles from San Francisco. It is possible to fly into Oakland, San Francisco, Sacramento or by private plane to the Napa Airport.

The seasons bring delightful changes to the Napa Valley. In the Spring, bright yellow mustard fills the vineyards. In the Summer, the valley is a carpet of green, and at Casa Cabernet, fresh vegetables are ripening, along with delicious peaches and pears, and eventually apples and. In the Fall, the valley turns many fall colors and the harvest of grapes begin late summer into Fall. In the Winter, the valley is a more quiet place, an unhurried time to visit. The stark brown twiggy vines in the fields are most attractive.

Long-term guests are welcome. It is an ideal place to stay while building a new home in the Napa Valley or looking for property to buy in the Napa Valley.

About Gaye G. Cook

I am a long time resident of the Napa Valley, having moved here in 1973, when we began the process of developing five acres, some in grapes and the remainder in home, garden structures, swimming pool and guest house.

Prior to that, I graduated from The University of Ca. Berkeley where I affiliated with the Kappa kappa Gamma Sorority. After graduation, I taught first grade in Berkeley for six years.

I now rent my guest house and enjoy the process.

It is fun to meet new people and to provide for them so that they have a memorable time in The Napa Valley.

Why Gaye G. Cook chose Napa Valley

This property is considered to be one of the most desirable in the Napa Valley. It is a five acre property with 42 acres surrounding it. There are magnificent views of the vineyards and Mount St. John.

It is within walking distance of Dean and DeLuca, a nice walk for coffee and treats, or one of their outstanding sandwiches. If you choose not to cook, you can get a gourmet dinner to take home.

It is a short distance to the town of St. Helena and Rutherford, Ca.

What makes this house unique

This property, Casa Cabernet, is a small home for one or two people. When available a larger 3 bedroom, 2 bath home can be rented. Casa Cabernet Grande is truly stunning. It is only available when the smaller Casa is not rented.

Guestbook comments from the manager

HEAVEN--that is where we are right now. Such a lovely welcome from you--the charming jar of native plants in the living room, the enticing bottle of wine, the camellias in the bedroom, and all of the shining spaces, and organization. So happy to be back.

incomparable

Exceeded all the expectations we had for our stay. Idyllic, convenient location; idyllic, unmatched surroundings; idyllic, unparalleled cottage. Having spent the month of March as the Spring unfolded in front of us, around us on the property and in the surrounding neighborhood and the Valley, we can wholeheartedly endorse and confirm the words written by the reviewer who stayed at the Casa in April of 2014.

Minutes to an inviting Health Club with a heated lap pool, spa and gym; vineyards and neighborhood at your doorstep for walking and wandering; fresh fruits and vegetables , and prepared foods at the local independent market, and at Dean and DeLuca, for those nights you do not want to eat out but do not want to prepare the meal (so hard not to with all the many excellent and diverse choices just minutes away in St.Helena or only several miles away in the surrounding towns); even a weekend farmers market with locally raised meat. Convenient to whatever you would want to do and to explore in the Valley.

This IS truly a very special property, and the property IS truly a reflection of the owner's pride in and love of the property. Having seen other properties during our stay, this IS truly" a unique find".

TRULY UNIQUE

  • 5 of 5

Once again, on our second stay, the Casa met all of our expectations. The cottage is warm and comfortable, immaculately clean, offering all the comforts of home. Sit by the roaring fire on cool nights listening to your favorite music on the Sonos sound system. The grounds are carefully maintained, dotted with olive trees Surrounded by vineyards, yet minutes to several of the finest wineries and restaurants in the area. Discovered several new walking trails in St. Helena, and at neighboring Lake Hennessey, in addition to just walking in the vineyards in the neighborhoods surrounding the Casa. All of the Valley is within easy access - from Calistoga to Napa,. Within an hours drive is the ferry (a 60 minute ride) to the San Francisco Ferry Building for just a day trip or overnight if that is a desire. One can relax at the Casa by the pool with its unparralled views of the surrounding landscape, or if both a gym and outdoor lap pool is a preference, as it was for us, minutes away at the local Health Spa and Fitness Center. Gaye is caring and attentive to the needs of her guests. The Casa is a reflection of her love and pride in this very special treasure.

The cottage & property were absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Cabernet is all that the description says it is. Gaye is a wonderful host and her entire property is immaculate. She is lovely and very attentive to your needs while maintaining your privacy.

The cottage was definitely my home away from home for the month and I hated to leave. My only concern is that I told so many people about my find that I fear she will be booked when I want to return.

Calming Oasis

  • 5 of 5

Casa Cabernet proved to be a most relaxing and comfortable cottage surrounded on all sides by views of vineyards. Coming from a flat, humid state, it felt surreal to be surrounded by mountains in the distance and vineyards as far as the eye could see. With a beautiful, dry climate, temperatures were so comfortable at night that we had the windows open giving us the best sleep ever.

Our host, Gaye, was most welcoming and shared many useful suggestions for restaurants, shopping, and more.

The pool was a welcome and refreshing respite to our daily outings which included day trips to Sonoma, San Francisco, Bodega Bay, nearby golf courses, and of course wineries.

The location couldn't have been more perfect - close to the main thoroughfare but protected enough by the vineyards that there was no noise.

A highlight was watching workers harvest a nearby vineyard! Also, on property we enjoyed grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and fresh basil.

The cottage was well equipped with a flat screen tv and dvd player, washer, dryer, and every kitchen amenity you could imagine.

Casa Cabernet became our home, and leaving was a sad day. In the future, we plan to revisit our casa and new family member, Gaye.
