We had the best time at Cynthia's beautiful home over New Years weekend. The house itself was super relaxing and cute and the area is also great. Very close to great skiing and dining! Cynthia was also a pleasure to deal with - very thoughtful, accommodating and friendly. Highly recommended for a weekend getaway away from the city!
We have stayed at few different properties found through Home Away and this was the best so far. I do not usually put much stock in reviews since owners can remove any unfavorable comments. You can trust the reviews for this property though.
The house is quite large and the deck is massive. There is easily enough room for three families. Everything was very clean and even better than the online photos.
Cynthia was very accommodating of my (numerous) questions and even had a nice gift welcoming us on arrival. Security return was also prompt after our stay.
Unfortunately, we were a little hampered by the water level of the lake (water did not come close to reaching the dock in the back yard) but we were able to take a short walk down the street to enjoy fishing near the playground.
Only suggestion I could offer for making this set up even better would be to add a TV in the downstairs sitting area. That space is really nice but went unused because of lack of TV.
All in all, I'm positive you will not be disappointed choosing this property.
We had a wonderful trip to Blakeslee, PA for a girls weekend in the middle of the summer. Though the weather was a little rainier than we would have liked, it did not put a damper on our weekend. We were able to utilize the beach, the lake, the hot tub, the spacious decks, the grill...everything we had hoped to use. The homeowner, Cynthia, was so kind and accommodating. Not only did she leave us a lovely little surprise upon check in, but she was readily available to give suggestions and answer questions. The bedrooms were great, the kitchen had everything a traveler could need (and more), and the games in the basement were a great addition. We also saw lots of wildlife right out back! I would book this again in a heartbeat. Overall, the pictures don't do it justice; this was a fabulous place to stay. Great customer service, very clean, quiet, private, relaxing, everything I could want. Thank you, Cynthia; I hope to come back again some day!
Our family flew in from Dallas, Texas to celebrate my father-in-laws 80th birthday. We decided to stay at Cynthia's beautiful house so our three kids could do some fishing with grandpa in the area. Let me start by saying, I really appreciated how quickly Cynthia responded to ALL my questions. She worked with me on scheduling and offered suggestions on where I could purchase fishing rods and get fishing licences. The house was just PERFECT!!! We arrived to find a beautifully designed, clean house with everything in place. There was even a lovely bottle of wine chilling in the fridge. The beds were super comfortable with clean, soft linens , plenty of towels were put out, and the modern bathrooms were spectacular. The rain showers were great after a day swimming at the lake. The Jacuzzi was so much fun... all ready to go, simple to use. The fire pit was just right for making smores. The house had air conditioners in every room and the kitchen was well equipped. When the kids weren't on the lake in the canoe or playing soccer in the massive backyard, they were happy playing away in the game room. We had a few visitors too...7 deer, 2 wild turkeys and a couple foxes. Needless to say, we had a blast!! My family travels a lot and I rely on reviews when I book ....so book with confidence!! Can't go wrong with Cynthia's lovely lakefront home.
The house was very nice and clean. Everything that we needed was there. The master bathroom was a dream. The hot tub we all enjoyed and sitting outside at night with the fire pit was a dream. The kids and grandfather loved the canoe and the house had the nicest backyard, plenty of room to play frisbee or whatever. The beach was a walk away and we had our own fishing pier.
My favorite was the wildlife. The deer would come up and let us feed them which was a thrill for me.
Would definitely rent again.
I will admit that I threw caution to the wind because I rely on reviews and only seeing 1 for the Summer had me wondering. I'm glad I did. Our group was 10 people total and we had enough room where it didn't feel like 10 at all. Cynthia was pretty available most of the time we were there. The welcome bottle IS a nice touch and much appreciated with all the stress to make the trip there, thanks Cynthia. Small issues were addressed quickly by Cynthia's nearby Handyman "Barry" who was very professional/helpful and friendly. The deer that visited was actually nice to see even though we have our own where we live, Pocono deer are more friendly lol Don't feed them just enjoy watching them. We used the canoe and our own kayaks throughout the day every day and the boys loved using the floatinig dock at the beach side. My boy's ages range from 12-20 and everyone was happy staying in the Community without having to venture off. Nature is so nice in the Poconos so bring your camera. I truly appreciated the towels in addition to linens. We brought towels not realizing that the owner suppliies this. Things that don't always come with a rental, the owner did supply as a "just in case"/courtesy and they were also appreciated.
It's chilly at night so bring some warm clothes to wear when out at the fire pit. We used the hot tub as much as we could. Everyone should rinse off or make sure not to wear lotions in the hot tub cause it creates a problem :-(
I suggest bringing things like paper plates, napkins, plastic forks/knives/spoons and cups for your outdoor dining like we did, clean up is lickitee split!
So there ya have it, the most recent review. I doubt you'll be disappointed if you rent this home.
It doesn't matter what time of year you come to the Poconos as there is always something fun to do. During the winter months most people come for the many ski resorts but you can also enjoy many other forms of outdoor activities. If downhill skiing isn't your thing how about cross country skiing, ice fishing, snow tubing or snow boarding. Too cold for you, what about outlet shopping at the Crossings Factory Outlet Mall, Gambling at Mohegan Sun.
Enjoy natures beauty in the fall a great time to go hiking or biking.
During the summer months there are a myriad of things to see and enjoy, We have the Pocono 500 in August and Nascar racing in June.We have festivals galore:
The Wine Festival
The Blues Festival
The Garlic Festival
The Jazz Festival
There are shows and plays every weekend.
Then of course there is white water rafting. So many things they can't all be mentioned. Come join us.
Other Activities: white water rafting, sky diving, casino's harness racing
