I found Orcas Island,WA. in 1990. I had never been to Washington State, let alone the San Juan Islands. I knew I had found home with in 15 minutes of driving off the ferry. This place feeds my artistic spirit and creative side.
I have worked toward my goal of buying property on Orcas Island and building my own place since then.
I started building in 2003. I was my own General Manager of this project. The professionals put in the parts that are controlled by building requirements to met code, like power, water, framing the house, etc.
After that is when the hands on part of the job was all mine. I put in all the slate flooring, wood trim, siding, painting, cupboards, sinks, tubs, slate shower hall, stone patio, etc. I could write a book with all that took place.
The house turned out lovely, if I do say so myself, and you can't beat the views.
I have not had one negative piece of feed-back about the house since I started renting it.
I want you to enjoy this piece of paradise as much as I do.
Thank you for your interest.
The Owner purchased this house in 2003
This Island offered the clean air and lush green landscape that has always been important to my comfort in a place. I need tall trees, natural settings, wild animals and birds as part of my daily life. The ocean being near-by and viewable daily, around nearly every corner I turn or hill I drive over, is a blessing I don't take for-granted. The views of the awesome mountains were a plus, and now I can't think of life without them to gaze at.
The fact that there are no traffic jambs or stop lights have to be listed as a plus too.
The peace and serenity you feel sitting on the patio with the sight of the Cascade Mountains and the Georgia Strait right there. Flowers blooming all around and birds to watch as their songs fill the air. The quiet of living on a 3 acre piece of paradise, on a private road, with no through traffic or city noises. Not another house in sight.
If the weather is overcast or if it has snowed and all is covered, it still feels bright in the Great Room, due to the huge ski-lite over the peak of the roof. The heated slate floors with rich, bold colors feel warm to my bare feet in the winter, and cool when I take feet out of my hot shoes in the summer.
So many things like this are what makes my home special to me, and to you too if you want.
Donna, Thank you so much for such a wonderful place to stay. We loved using your well stocked kitchen
and travelling about this beautiful island. We even enjoyed your VHS collection.
Once again, thanks!
From the moment we walked through the door we were pleasantly surprised with Delongview. Everything was just as described and perfect. The view took our breath away and we were extremely happy with our choice for lodging on our vacation to the San Juan Islands. The rooms were spacious, neat and tidy, and we lacked for nothing during our stay. If ever we are lucky enough to return to the area we will be sure to check if this property is available. While the location if a bit off the beaten path it is well worth the time it takes to get there. We felt comfortable right away and actually hated to leave! The serenity and solitude found here cannot be beat. Thank you Donna for sharing your beautiful home with us and for making our dream come true!
My wife and I recently stayed at this property for our honeymoon. It was just as we expected from what we had seen in the photos. The owner was very easy to work with and was quick to respond to any questions we had.
The driveway on the property is fairly steep but we had no problems getting up in my '13 Ford Focus.
We loved the house and used many of the amenities. Both the interior and exterior were very clean. The kitchen is very welcoming and is stocked with any tool or utensil you may need to cook meals.
The property sits on a hill that overlooks the Strait of Rosario. There are a few trees that break up the view but nevertheless, it is breathtaking. I highly suggest building a camp fire in the provided fire pit and take in the beautiful night sky with the twinkling lights of Lummi Bay and Neptune Beach in the distance.
The property is also about 8 minutes to downtown Eastsound. There are many shops there to check out. I suggest going to Black Bear Baking for a delicious latte! There's also a nice market in the Eastsound for groceries.
Eastsound is also a great base for many of the fun activities on Orcas. We loved going to Mount Constitution and the surrounding lakes.
This property is the perfect place for anyone looking for some quiet while also being not too far from town. It has everything you need for a nice getaway or honeymoon that won't break the bank. We are very glad we found Delongview.
Recently stayed at this wonderful, secluded property on Orcas Island. We were impressed by how welcoming this home was - plenty of kitchen space for cooking meals and a large open floor plan with large windows, beautiful back porch with lovely views of the sound, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. Also just a short drive into town for activities. What a treat!
The Delongview property was a perfect landing spot for our family's exploration of Orcas Island. It was nestled on top of a hill side that had amazing views of the water, other islands, and many boats. The home was as described and included special touches like coffee, toiletries, super fluffy, large towels, and a well stocked kitchen. The home was not too far from Eastsound which made access convenient for trips around the Island. Donna had prepared an informative binder of the home and area and left lots of brochures-all great for those new to the area. She was also quick to respond to emails prior to our stay while we were making arrangements. Great home and host for our stay!
This property is magnificent. From the moment my family arrived, we were comfortable and happy. We loved that it was on the outskirts of island activity. We treasured the quiet nights and the beautiful, starry skies.
The home has a warm, artsy atmosphere with gorgeous views and a thoughtful setup. We spent our mornings relishing The View, our afternoons exploring the island, and our evenings playing games and enjoying family trivia games under the stars on the patio.
My family rated this as our favorite vacation home, and we have been renting vacation homes multiple times each year for more than 15 years. The island itself has so much to offer, and this home offers the perfect sanctuary to return home to.
This home a nice view of the water and other islands as seen through many windows. The patio provides a nice place to sit and relax. The owner planned a well-thought layout of the house. There are many gadgets in the kitchen, the beds are comfortable, and there are an abundance of pillows. The laundry facilities provide travelers the option of having clean clothes when departing. The owner provides island information and you will find most switches, faucets, remotes, etc. labeled so you know what each device controls.

I work full time but I can help with any questions you have. I live in a studio apartment at the house under the second bedroom. I can not see into the windows or onto the private patio of the rented part of the house so your privacy is assured. The only place you might see me is in the parking area. I will not be in contact unless we email, call or schedule a time for a visit while you're here. If you prefer I am not at the house during your stay let me know. I have another place I can stay.
