Walk your dog to the leash-free beach from this salt box house in the sleepy end-of-the road village of Dillon Beach.
Enjoy the spectacular views of Tomales Bay, Pt. Reyes National Seashore and the Pacific Ocean. Wine country and San Francisco are just an hour away.
Lots of great food is close by, including the Tomales Bay shellfish restaurants in Marshall and Pt. Reyes Station, and the many fine eateries of Bodega Bay.
Your house is fully furnished, and has a fireplace, cable TV, DVD and a large deck. If you're looking for water sports, shopping, sightseeing or just plain relaxing, you can't beat the village of Dillon Beach, Marin County's hidden gem.
The house is one of the newest in the village. It is very solidly built and very quiet. The rooms are much more open than the older village houses.
We had another lovely time in Dillon Beach. So quiet and peaceful, cool and foggy (such a welcome respite from the heat and fires of Los Angeles). The house is well appointed and comfortable with ample couches and chairs to sit and watch the fog roll in. The view is wonderful, and the house is easy walking distance to the beach. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was pretty well stocked with all the utensils and pots you would need.
Our hosts Tom and Pauline were very responsive via email, and accommodated our last minute request for an extra night.
All in all, well worth the money and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
It was perfect for a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 kiddos and the dog). Pauline (owner) was very responsive and kind. The house was clean and set up very nicely. The backyard was perfect for the dog to do her business and the straw is a great idea.
We enjoyed the walk through the village to the beach everyday..not only exercising but saved the $8 it would have cost to park at the beach. We were entertained daily by the deer that came to visit. Left the doors open a few times to enjoy the breeze - no issues with yellow jackets.
Yes..Bring sheets, towels, etc. Bonus..Love my sheets..made the beds that more comfortable. Verizon cell service was great..all others hit and miss. So go enjoy the beach :)
The last minute weekend get away was so relaxing and comfortable it felt longer than 2 days. And to quote an 8 year old "This is the best house ever!" She loved the layout. Thank you! We will be back soon!
Although we only stopped over for a night, this beautiful house was incredibly comfortable and charming. We had no trouble making dinner, and the four of us enjoyed relaxing upstairs before turning in. The views were gorgeous (sunset watching from the deck!) and I wouldn't hesitate to spend a week or more here next time we decide to get out of the city.
Owners Tom and Pauline were very responsive and kind as we prepared for our stay. The house was really cute, clean and had almost all of the basics we needed for the weekend. Beds were comfortable and there was a small outdoor area where we could let the dog out to do his business or when he crowded us in the kitchen.
Just a few small nitpicks: there weren't any linens available, other than a few hand towels in the kitchen. I recommend bringing your own (bed, kitchen, bathroom). There might be a yellow jacket problem, as we found several in the upstairs window sill and we had to keep shutting the door so they wouldn't fly in. We also noticed them outside around the house. In the kitchen, some of the basics such as kitchen: salt/pepper, olive oil, spatula were missing. This was a little frustrating but manageable. We weren't able to use the outdoor furniture as it was fairly warped and oxidized. Lastly, the DVD player remote was missing (not a big deal, but makes pausing, etc. inconvenient).
Otherwise the house was great, the neighborhood is cute (definitely mind the parking restrictions as the road is small and there are no other alternative places to park nearby. Our two cars fit just fine.) The beach was nice and though there were a lot of people didn't feel overly crowded even for a holiday weekend. There's limited cell phone service in the area so make sure you have the directions figured out or don't miss any turns on the way in! We'd stay again.
Our family wanted to get together near the beach, ages 7-89. This Dillon Beach house fit the bill. We had a dog with us and the house was very dog friendly. We enjoyed the great views from the main living area and the convenient location. This house exceeded our expectations.
Driving the back roads of West Marin County is a treat. It is rural and devoted mostly to dairy and sheep farms. Going either north or south on Highway 1 will take you to small towns with great restaurants, shopping and other attractions.
