Stone and slate farm cottage with stunning views close to village amenities

Ashes Cottage is a typical Lake District slate and stone 17th Century farm workers cottage set in a beautiful rural location. A comfortable, spacious lounge with an open log fire, plenty of seating and a TV leads out to a pretty patio area (charcoal barbecue provided) with steps down to a large landscaped garden complete with fish pond. From the lounge and the patio there are far reaching views across fields and valleys where you can watch the sheep and spot walkers along the Dales Way. The modern fitted kitchen has granite worktops, an induction hob, a microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, seating for 2 and a small wall mounted TV. As you enter the cottage there is a separate dining room that seats 6/8 and 3 bedrooms upstairs with stunning views across farmland to the Kentmere Valley. Popular with families, Ashes Cottage sleeps 6 guests in 1 super king bedroom, 1 double and 1 twin. The large bathroom has a separate bath and shower. There is reliable, free WIFI and a washing machine and lockable storage for bikes etc in the garage. Ashes Cottage is located 1 mile outside the pretty village of Staveley with numerous eateries, pubs, the Hawkshead Brewery, a playground, the Wheelbase Bike Store and riverside walks. With Lake Windermere only 10 minutes drive away you can spend your days exploring all the Lake District has to offer and return to cosy Ashes Cottage to relax.

We have been visiting Staveley for over 20 years and are delighted to own a beautiful property here. Ashes Cottage is a real haven away from the daily grind. As soon as you step out of the car you will notice the cool, fresh mountain air and tranquility shattered only by the neighbouring sheep. The cottage itself is spacious and comfortable for a family or group to spread out and relax in, whether out on the patio or curled up in front of a log fire. The kitchen is fully equipped for you to cater for yourselves or you can enjoy some time off by sampling the local pubs and restaurants in Staveley village, from beer tapas to curries and cakes, there is a great selection only a mile away.

Fantastic property. spacious, well equipped, comfortable and full of charm. Luxurious bathroom and homely open fire. Fabulous location: lots of local walks and easy access to village with great links to the entire Lake District.

Absolutely goregous

We used this house as a base to explore the Lake District, and it was absolutely perfect. So peaceful and cozy. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was positively luxurious with a separate shower and bath. The property owner didn't have a cot for our baby, but she was able to borrow one and our little one slept great in it. We would love to return some day!

So tranquil, lovely setting, comfortable accommodation, with all mod cons.

It is a great place to be wether you want to go out and explore the area or just laze around with your family or friends. The views are wonderful where ever you look. The whole cottage is really spacious and well laid out. The owners have thought of everything that may need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

This is my second visit and I am looking forward to many more.

Lovely quiet cottage with fabulous views

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage, with just the rural views I was hoping for. Clean and nicely furnished. There was a problem with the shower which wasn't ideal but we understood that the owners had been trying to fix, so just one of those things. Only negative feedback was that the mattresses in the twin room were apparently a bit 'springy', so maybe these could be improved. I would have no hesitation in returning to this lovely cottage though.

Beautiful!

Gorgeous property - beautiful traditional features interspersed with modern practicalities! Located in a secluded and relaxing environment...the views are awe inspiring and the 'neighbours' charming (sheep).

The property was extremely clean and had everything you needed...I particularly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, which was very modern with plenty of storage and hi tech appliances...and I hate cooking!

Easy access to numerous walks and a variety of other attractions.

I would definitely recommend this property; the owner contact was easy and free from stress.

My two girls didn't want to leave! Thank you Liz.

Ashes Cottage is 1 mile outside the pretty village of Staveley with numerous eateries, pubs, a playground, The Wheelbase Bike Store and riverside walks. We recommend "More" artisan bakery for delicious pies, cakes and bread, The Eagle and Child Inn for great pub grub and The Hawkshead Brewery for local ales and beer tapas. Pick up the Dales Way footpath minutes from your door and return to a cosy log fire in the evening. Why not drive to Fellfoot Park for lakeside picnics and row boat hire or Grizedale Forest for walks along a sculpture trail or adventures in the trees with "Go Ape"! Visit Beatrix Potter's Farmhouse at Hawkshead or the medieval Sizergh Castle just 10 minutes drive away. There really is something for everyone here.
