Gavray Gite is a newly renovated barn made of stone and earth. The exposed oak beams have been retained and contrast with the new oak staircase, oak internal doors and fresh decor. Glass panels have replaced the original barn door which allow light to flood in to the double height entrance hall. A well equipped kitchen/dining room, utility room and comfortable lounge with woodburning stove can be found on the ground floor. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms - a very generous master bedroom and 2 further bedrooms which can be configured as twins or superkings for complete flexibility. An ensuite and a family shower room complete the upstairs. Central heating has been fitted so the property can be rented throughout the year. The barn sits in a plot of 2 hectares of land along with a further barn and the main house. If you require suggested itineraries, restaurant bookings making or general advice, help is always at hand from the main house. The gite is totally separate from the main house and the privacy of guests is respected at all times. There is plenty of parking in the main courtyard. To the rear of the gite, a private garden and patio have been created. An outdoor table and chairs together with a BBQ are provided for al fresco dining.

About Chris Robinson
I left the bright lights of London for a much more relaxing way of life in Normandy and am thoroughly enjoying it. As a student I lived and worked in France and had spent many family holidays here as well. Neighbours and villagers have been very welcoming. A trip to the market in Gavray on a Saturday morning can take much longer than anticipated as you say hello and chat to people.

Why Chris Robinson chose Lengronne
Having renovated property in London, when the chance to buy a house with a barn came up, I jumped at it. I must have watched too many TV property programmes! Local artisans have been used and while it has been challenging, it's also been very rewarding as well.
What makes this Barn unique
Gavray is an ideal base from which to explore La Manche area of Normandy. You can do as much or as little as you like. It is relatively unspoilt and fairly quiet. The closest ports for the ferries are Cherbourg or Caen Ouistreham. The barn is a mix of old and new - exposed oak beams and original stone contrast with light airy decor and modern home comforts. The gite is very spacious and will accommodate 6 people comfortably.

Gavray is a large village with a market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Equidistant from Coutances, Granville and Villedieu-les-Poeles, this is the ideal base from which you can explore the area. The nearest beach is just 16 km away at Saint Martin de Brehal and the ruins of Hambye Abbey are just a short drive away. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, markets and food producers in the area for you to taste Normandy delights such as Calvados (apple brandy), cider, caramel sauce, cheese and sweet biscuits. A visit to Normandy would not be complete without a trip to Mont St Michel, the UNESCO world heritage site. Mont St Michel is 45 minutes away. Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches are also worthwhile day trips. With abbeys, churches, historical buildings, beaches, cycling, horseriding, gardens and gastronomic delights, Normandy has plenty to entertain you.
