A very charming apartment close to San Giorgio church, with beautiful views on Modica. The owner, Peter, and Lorenzo, the caretaker of the apartment did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. A pleasure to be hosted by such nice people.
Great upgraded rustic villa experience
This was a great stay in a quiet part of town, which is itself not too heavily trafficed by tourists. Modica has some nice places to visit, and they are easy to get to from the villa.
The hosts exceeded all expectations in getting us set up and making us comfortable. We arrived on Christmas Eve, so grocery shops were going to be closed. Not to worry! They took a shopping list from us by email and had the place all stocked when we arrived. Pretty impressive.
A really nice feature of the house is that there are doors between all the various living and dining rooms. This makes it good for a multi-family stay--not everybody is forced to be involved in everything that is going on.
Only one downside and one word of caution. There was mold growing in one of the bedrooms with a rock wall, and it was a little dank in there. I guess that's what you get along with a striking living rock wall inside the villa. Caution: Don't believe google maps instructions on how to get to the designated parking spots. The host probably told us this and we forgot, but we ended up damaging our rental van trying to get it through the narrow alley in front of the property. Instead, be sure you take the big main road to get there.
Thank you Brian:
We are really happy you enjoyed our Carmella!!! We hope to see you and your family there in
the summer next time! We had some specialists come to our place to inspect rock wall. They told us that it is not mold but in fact salt. Apparently this area of Sicily has high concentrations of salt in much of the geography and its land scape. So in the end it is nothing to worry about. However, they advised us on a natural coating to keep the moisture out. Regarding the google maps/GPS issue. For some reason, google maps and GPS tell our guests to come from the wrong direction. Instead, we advise our guests to follow only the map directions we send out. Also, we ask them to contact our property manager to arrange a meeting at the famous landmark church St.Giorgio (which is only a minute from our house). Our property manager usually will point out the good parking spaces which are less 1 minute walk from our Villa.
Once again thanks so much for staying with us!!!
