About the property

House, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, (Sleeps 2)

This Grade II listed, terraced weavers cottage is located in Summerbottom, which was mentioned in the Sunday Times 2014 ‘Best Places to Live’. Accessed via a rough track, the holiday property is situated in a wonderful secluded setting on the edge of the Peak District National Park and the location is unrivalled and a true outdoor enthusiasts paradise, with the Trans Pennine Trail literally passing the bottom of the garden providing the opportunity for endless walks throughout Broadbottom, Hadfield, Longdendale, continuing into the Peak District National Park and beyond.Summerbottom itself is a row of 11 cottages, with the local village amenities of Broadbottom and Charlesworth within easy reach, together with the larger town of Glossop. Lymefield Garden Centre can be found in Broadbottom, offering an award-winning tea room and farm shop, and then once the site of a huge complex of cotton mills, nearby Broad Mills Heritage Site has been carefully reclaimed and restored for visitors to enjoy. For guests who enjoy visiting stately homes and magnificent gardens, the historic houses of Chatsworth Estate, Tatton Park and Haddon Hall can all be reached in around 45 minutes, as can the spa town of Buxton, Bakewell with its puddings and the plague village of Eyam, with its truly fascinating story. Edale, Castleton and the surrounding stunning Hope Valley scenery can be reached in half an hour, as can the bright lights of Manchester by direct train from Broadbottom station, which is around half a mile away from the property, or for those steady on their feet, a 5-minute walk through the forest. Shop 2 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 1½ miles.
