My family bought this house several years ago and spent many wonderful years here. We moved to Michigan a few years ago and did not want to give up this amazing house as we hope to come back here to retire. In the meantime we love to share it with our guests and hope they will enjoy the house as much as we do.
Jana purchased this house in 2007
This home is gorgeous in and out. Our family was able to gather on the main floor for eating and playing games but able to have enough area to retreat to our private bedrooms. The fireplace is huge and having lovely fires in the evenings added to the ambiance. We walked through the wood behind the home for the gorgeous view and tree swing!!! The decks off the home are terrific. Plus it's a very short and scenic ride to Palo Alto, Menlo Park.... Our UBER driver found it with no problem. The kitchen has everything you could need. The bathrooms are updated and very spacious. The owner is very gracious and accommodating!!! The setting is peaceful with beautiful pines and redwoods surrounding it!!! It was large enough to accommodate our family with adult children.
House was clean and exactly as described. The layout was superb and the owner always responded quickly to all my e-mails. I would recommend this property to a friend and will definitely stay there again when in the Palo Alto area.
The home is wonderful! It looks just like the pictures. You immediately feel and home. It has a gourmet kitchen where we cooked breakfast every morning. So nice to wake up in the peaceful surroundings and then have a place to have breakfast without having to get in the car. Quick access to San Francisco and to Menlo Park. The owner is very nice and follow through is terrific. We have been to Silicon Valley a couple of times and were so disappointed with the available hotels and motels and the price they expected for the dark and old outdated, single room places to stay. We went to VRBO and found this home and enjoyed our stay a great deal. We will be back.
This home is Beautiful. The setting is just perfect. We traveled for business and after long days at work in the city, coming back home was a treat. The house is modern and spacious. Wonderful for two business partners and myself. Each having our own bedroom/bathroom - fantastic privacy - yet when coming together in the entertainer’s kitchen was delightful (the kitchen has the best appliances you can buy). We enjoyed cooking in and relaxing on the many decks.
A special must-do note while staying at this home, those looking for fresh air, exercise and a joy for the senses: venture out to the trail up the hill and behind the property, leads to a beautiful tree swing and amazing views of the valley. We took sunrise jogs every morning.
We look forward to our return trips to Palo Alto and staying in this beautiful home in Portola Valley.
Very responsive host who made organising the trip straightforward.
Great house at the edge of the mountains but still within easy (20 mins) commuting distance of downtown Palo Alto. Very quick access to the I280 for getting into San Francisco.
The house was very comfortable and clean. Nice light, modern rooms with a good sense of space. Great kitchen facilities with a big gas stove and huge fridge. Good open plan sofa/living area and very comfortable beds.
We stayed a week with two small children and it was nice to be somewhere that was well decorated and also suitable for children. The bedrooms are on three different levels which was fine for us but something to be aware of if you have little ones.
We really enjoyed our trip and would definitely stay again.
We spent two nights in this wonderful home during a trip to the Bay Area. Communicating with the owner was a breeze -- she responded quickly to our original inquiry and follow-up e-mails.
The house is great! The master suite on the upper floor is open and airy with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. There is a second bedroom on the main floor with two twin beds that worked out well for our two older boys. There was also plenty of space in this bedroom for an inflatable mattress that we brought for our youngest son. There is also another bedroom on the bottom floor that we did not use but would have worked very well for another adult or older child who wants a bit of privacy.
The kitchen was great, though we did not have the chance to use it much. The kitchen is open to a comfortable living room where we enjoyed playing games and relaxing. The decks are in good shape and provide a nice outdoor space to eat, read, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
We had a great time and wish that we had been able to spend more than two nights so that we could have taken more advantage of all that this property has to offer!
