Since we live near to the areas of Glenwood, Loch Lomand, and Peacock Gap, we have hosted many family members that are visiting their children and grandchildren. They like it that we are so close to these neighborhoods and can come back and recuperated from all the family gatherings. We also like to think of our rental as a quiet get away for couples as well.
We came up to Marin County in 1991 and fell in love with its beauty. Both of us have been in the film and television industry and where Paul decided to retire, Elise continued to travel to Los Angeles and work on different film and television projects. We both are semi retired now and love to travel as well as welcome fellow travelers to our lovely area .
Elise is a teacher in the film industry and Paul was an assistant director. He is now a writer and has written a novel called Night Fear. It can be found on Amazon!
He is writing his second novel which is a sequel to Night Fear. There are 2 more on the horizon.

This neighborhood where our rental exists is truly unique. It is on the Bay side of a quaint area called 'Chicken Point' - perhaps because there might have been people raising chickens - which is a common happening here!- It is not far from central San Rafael and yet it feels rural enough to enjoy walks up in the hills and around the Bay.
The architecture of our surrounding area is a mix of different styles. No cookie cutter look here. It reminds me of Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles, an area where I grew up and a mix of East Coast Maine. People here are very supportive and helpful and we find that this did not exist in larger towns and cities.
The style of our rental is a bit of New England. We have temperate weather due to the proximity of the Bay and since we are near a little beach, it is easy to put out a kayak or stand up paddle board.
Also our neighbors are what makes the area wonderful - everyone loves where we live!!
Our stay was wonderful. Elise and Paul have made this apartment a peaceful retreat - very well thought out, quiet, clean and the water sounds out our bedroom window were delightful...
San Rafael and San FRan and Elise and Paul will truly be out home away. We now leave for Oregon, back to some rain. We will miss our small space with a great view and the warm sun.
See you soon, Blessings,
Vito and Kele
My best friend and I were looking for our "girls weekend" location and we found the perfect place. This is the most charming location we have been to, it is comfortable a bit small but incredibly spacious. The decor was brilliant it made a big difference in the atmosphere with plenty of windows to admire the surroundings - we thought the walk-in closet/changing room was a nice touch. The location was perfect to explore Sausalito, Sonoma and Napa – we did all that and in the evenings returned to our retreat to enjoy a nice bottle of wine. This was a great get away location and we definitely plan on returning.

This rental was cozy but not small. The bedroom and closet space were more than enough to meet our needs, and the kitchen had everything you might need aside from a stove (though a hot plate is available). As a couple exploring San Francisco and the Napa Valley for the first time, this rental was perfectly located between the two. The drive into the city was not bad (even during rush hour), and provides some fantastic views of the city and Golden Gate Bridge! Paul and Elise were extremely accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. We highly recommend this rental property to anyone visiting the area!
Owners and their rescue pups were terrific-very personable. They had great suggestions for walking, local (and not so local) food and wine spots. And they had good coffee already stocked in the pantry (so nice when you come in late and don't have time to get to a store!) The rental was very comfy for our party of two. Well decorated with nicer/comfortable pieces. Quality linens and towels, are always appreciated. So was their eco friendly detergent, sheets had just the faintest smell of lavender-perfect! Great closet space and plentiful hooks for jackets, hats and purses and plenty of towel bar space in the bath. Overall, a well thought out space.
My husband and I were in the Bay Area visiting family. The apartment had everything we required. Nice sitting area and kitchen and the bed was very comfortable. Paul and Elise were there to greet us and were helpful in telling us about local stores and restaurants. We could walk out our door to a neighborhood beach and enjoyed sitting in their beautiful garden. Great access on and off the freeway. Thank you Paul and Elise for helping make this a wonderful visit.
Nice people, wonderful location, serene and quiet. Accessible to everything we wanted. Would stay again.
The guest sweet was very private and cozy. The whole place had a very wholesome and clean atmosphere. It felt like staying in a nice hotel but with more room and a much more personal experience. The bed was really big and soft; I slept really well every night. The kitchen was well stocked for tea and coffee and any meals that might need preparing. The whole experience after staying for four nights was a very relaxed and comfortable feeling. I had such a lovely stay the location could not be more perfect for me. Thank you so much Elise and Paul for providing us with such a wonderful cozy suit for a relaxing weekend get away! The garden was also really beautiful in the morning and the house is in such a great neighborhood near the beach! Lovely! Definitely recommend!
What sets us apart from other vacation rentals in San Rafael is our quiet, scenic neighborhood that is close to the bay.It feels as if it is a blend of East Coast Maine with West Coast weather. It is a peaceful, semi rural area.We are close to a boat harbor as well as a small beach where you can launch canoes or kayaks. Our East San Rafael property is also surrounded by open land where you can hike, mountain bike or just enjoy walking around the bay. We are also near historic China Camp and McNears Beach picnicking site. If you want to get some small town feel, we are 2.5 miles away from the downtown area of San Rafael which has a restored, historic mission as well as cute shops and many restaurants. There is also a restored movie theatre that plays a significant role in the Mill Valley Film Festival. Also nearby is Dominican College that has hosted many prominent speakers, writers, politicians and actors.
Besides all of these highlights, we are literally walking distance from Andy's Market, an upscale full service market with an incredible deli and a finely curated wine selection.
Our property is a midway point for visiting the city of San Francisco, the wine counties of Napa and Sonoma, the lovely coastal route from Stinson Beach to Point Reyes and beyond to Bodega Bay. All can be done in one day travel.
Other Activities: We have had golfers, kayakers, hikers, sailers, and a myriad or those who enjoy the outdoors. We are very close to the Peacock Gap Country Club which does have day rates as well as McGuinnis Parkway Golf Center for those who just want to hit some balls or play a full round of golf.
Golf: We are near Peacock Gap Country Club and Spa. Normal fees apply. McGuiness Park, which is also a golf course is a bit further up the highway.
Ski: We are 3.5 hours from Truckee and Lake Tahoe ski resort.
Stand up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking is offered at 101 Surf Sports which is about a mile away from us. They even have lessons and you can rent from them as well.
