About Daniel Whitney
I was born in upper state N.Y. and moved to Fort Lauderdale florida when I was 11 years old where I graduated high school and got into the flooring installation business for 28 years, I moved to Orlando in 1983 continued flooring, opened a bicycle shop in 1992 , it's my passion to ride a bicycle and have been for 30 years. I enjoy cycling at home and in the mountains, I went to France to watch the Pros in Tour D France 3 times and rode all the mountains the pro's ride with friends and i am working still in the bicycle industry part time, I also have a motorcycle and have traveled the USA on it a couple of times and take it to my cabin to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway as often as possible. I love to be at my cabin with family or friends and in the mountains. I enjoy everything outdoors and on 2 wheels like cycling or riding a motorcycle, kayaking or hiking is always peaceful and quiet in the Beauty of nature and wildlife. Living in orlando the change of weather every year I look forward to with the colorful foliage of Octobers leaves and the snow on the trees with no leaves in winter. I enjoy doing home projects and volunteering when i can, I would like to leave as small of a footprint on the beautiful earth God has given me so I recycle everything I see at home or the cabin and have plans to make my home green and energy efficient to get off the Electric grid soon. I recently got married to my beautiful wife Susan and we want to enjoy the summers in the mountains and winters in Orlando.
Daniel Whitney purchased this Cabin in 2007
Why Daniel Whitney chose Nebo
The developement was nicely located and well maintained plus only 20 minutes to a town and the Interstate and 35 to the blue ridge parkway. The developer of Grandview Peaks I felt was honest when I spoke with him, my builder had years of experience building in this and another developement of Fall creek land company developed, I looked at 10 different cabins in areas and communities from north georgia to west virginia and rented cabins from 1200 feet to 4000 feet in elevation so 1800 is perfect, I also researched developement in N.C. and what his future plans were in this 1600 acre community as everything he said 7 years ago is complete in 2014. Now as 2018 approaches The community if very involved with events at the lake, pot luck dinners, bar-b-que's, ladies lunches, bible studies and a news letter with arts, crafts, farmers markets to buy locally. I now have a couple of close friends there and plan to spend summer months there to enjoy the cool nights and away from florida heat.
What makes this Cabin unique
Well maintained with great community involvement where there are 8 events at the pavillion every year with movies under the stars plus hiking and fishing or swimming in our lake with a gated front entrance. Very Active community if your interested from Bible studies to cornhole or Bunko while you stay, Easy access to I-40 for skiing or tubing in winter or water skiing in summer. Hospital 14 miles away, Great Views, Paved roads with underground utilities for clean viewing. Neighbor watch groups and co-op opportunities within the neighborhood for farm to table with local farmers.

This is a very well maintained property also clean (both are important to us). It is a little remote but a nice gated community and love the Mountain View. Dan was easy to work with and overall our stay was very pleasant.
Vacation with 3 Generations
We have rented homes in the mountains for several years. This home was the BEST! Dan, the owner, has a beautiful house and he is the best at stocking it with things you can forget to bring—like sunscreen, cooking oils, condiments, spices, etc! We had three generations here over a span of 2 weeks and it was wonderful to have three floors to spread out, yet the main floor to gather. The swimming/fishing pond & falls were an added benefit! There are many things to do around here but most things are an hour away. That’s the price for being in the woods! We did see deer and there is a cardinal that always visits the front tree when rocking on the front porch!
I am so glad you enjoyed your time at my cabin. I try to keep stocked everything I need while Im there for my guests. Thanks for the great review
The place was fantastic! Great mountain views! Well stocked, very clean, and great location. All the desired amenities. Would suggest it to anyone!
Thank you for writing a review! Glad you enjoyed you time at my cabin for a short weekend, sometime this is all it takes to unwind.
The house, amenities, and overall area are wonderful. My family and I enjoyed our stay.
I am so happy your family enjoy their time at my Cabin in the mountains as much a we do when we are there, I have updated some of the amenities in 2018 such as new sheets, pillows, complete game room with pool table, Pub table and Seating, coffee tables and plates and silver ware, horseshoes outside to enjoy the Mountains as well. Thanks you for your time to review my cabin.
