Vacationing in wine country (Piedmonte, Italy)

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvellous stay for two sunny weeks, in the comfortable yellow house on the hilltop surrounded by vineyards and fruit trees. From each one of its many windows, one had magnificent views of the Asti region, as far as the eye could see, including spectacular visions of the distant snow-capped Alpine peaks. This is a place for those who like getting off the beaten track, to walk or bicycle through the winding ways around the different valleys, and to sample authentic food and wine. We stopped often to eat the ripe figs and plums literally dropping from the trees that we would walk past. The tomatoes growing in the little vegetable plot near the farm house were especially aromatic. We said so, and, the next day, were surprised to find a small mountain of fruit left on the table by the gardener. We were privileged to meet Barbara, the owner, and to spend a memorable evening or two tasting the wines of her Cantine, and listening to stories told in her gently humorous style. The graceful old surroundings with high wooden beams were a perfect backdrop to the food cooked by Lorenza, and the conviviality of Barbara and some other guests. Other Rocchetta people we met in the cafés, the grocery and the pharmacy were as friendly and forthcoming as the things we bought were delicious. In the evenings, we walked down to the village for the music concerts (of which there were many during mid-August) and walked back up under the starry skies, making sure to have plenty of mosquito-repellent for the evening. The focaccia, the cheeses, olives -- and the wines, of course – and our host Barbara will all be fond memories of this trip to Italy.

The house and our experience exceeded our expectations. We did not want to leave. we loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

The house recently remodeled met every need. The view of the vineyards with the Alps in the background, outside dining, fabulous kitchen, every comfort imaginable, the quaint town of Rochetta Tanaro, our chef and cooking teacher Lorenza, and most importantly Barbara the owner with her expertise of the region made our vacation most relaxing and memorable. The cooking classes and dinner take place at the winery about 2 miles from the house, another beautiful place. It was an old dairy barn converted into a winery.

The best homeaway experience I've had. Our group ranged in ages 23-80. We loved the people, the home, the town, and special pets that completed our stay. Don't miss this unique opportunity.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Casa Rollone was better than we could have imagined. The modern amenities within a country setting on top of a hill with views of vineyards and the Alps in the distance were wonderful. Barbara was a lovely guide to the Asti region and beyond. We truly enjoyed meeting her and discovering the wonderful wines of the Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta.

Amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent in the house 4 weeks in June and it was one of our best holiday ever. The house is perfectly located on the top of the hill with a beautifull view for the village, Alps and Vineyards. It also contains everything, what is needed for such a long stay. We were eating our meals outside on a veranda watching the nature and enjoying the sounds of the birds. The hospitality of the owners is extraordinary! They were giving us a lot of advices, starting with the indication of the best restaurants in the area through the info, where to buy homemade Italian food, as well as where are the best spots to visit. Thanks to this we felt very safe and we had a feeling we live like the local people. We already plan to come back next year! Barbara and Francesca, thank you for making our holiday perfect!!!

Schönes, großzügiges und gut ausgestattetes Haus in Aussichtslage

  • 4 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Ons verblijf begin augustus was fantastisch.
