Fabulous apartment!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment looks exactly like the pictures! It is so charming, with an historic ambiance, and is quite spacious and comfortable.

Prior to arrival, Rebeca answered all our questions promptly and thoroughly, and upon arrival, we were welcomed by her brother, Alex. Alex gave us a thorough tour of the apartment, explaining how to operate the air conditioning (which worked perfectly throughout or 3 day stay in mid-July) and security system. The rooms were all very clean, neat, and tastefully decorated.

My husband and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom, and put our 11 year old in the upstairs room. Street noise and an occasional loud conversation late at night could be heard from the downstairs bedroom, but using foam earplugs all but cancelled that out. The upstairs bedroom is very quiet, and our daughter slept soundly without disturbance.

The showers had great water pressure and excellent hot/cold control. The washer and dryer also worked perfectly, and though there was no instruction manual, I was able to go online and find the English versions for both. As mentioned before, the AC kept the entire apartment at a comfortable temperature, but there were also 3 portable room fans to keep the cool air circulating, so we had no need to lower the temperature from its preset reading.

The loose floor tiles mentioned by another reviewer were still there, but they didn't seem to pose any risk for us, and we actually thought it added to the charm of the apartment.

The location of the apartment was ideal for our needs, and walking distance from all our points of interest. Though located off a busy street, we felt perfectly safe at all times.

The check out procedure was very simple, and though our travels in Europe lasted only 4 days after we left this apartment, the security deposit had already been processed by the time we arrived home. Thank you Rebeca and Alex for a lovely stay! We would book this apartment again in a heartbeat.

Getting pretty shabby!!

  • 1 of 5

The location of this property is great, but it leads to issues...the downstairs master bedroom is so noisy we had to move the bed into the living room to be able to sleep. There is an alley outside that amplifies the sound and folks like to hang out there, drink, party and smoke dope.

Aside from the noise, the floor tiles are coming up on the whole downstairs, so they rattle when you walk across them. The fabric on the sofas are threadbare and it needs a paint job as the walls are filthy in the kitchen. The whole unit just feels kind of grubby. There were small ants in the living room only and the front door handle broke one day locking us INSIDE the building, making us late for a tour of Sagrada Familia and costing us another $60EUR. Small things like having to buy our own toilet paper, not being able to get the AC to work or the dryer to dry became a pain when added to everything else.

This place was probably fine in the past and the design is cool, but they are NOT keeping it up. Go somewhere else!!

Stylish and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We were quite pleased with this apartment. The location was perfect for us, where the Barri Gotic, Barcelonetta, and the Born meet and a bus stop right out front. We didn't cook, but the kitchen is well appointed. I'm sure Cervantes enjoyed his stay as well.

Great stay in Gothic Quarter

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is located in a 16th century historic building in the Gothic Quarter. It has been tastefully updated and is very comfortable. We loved the location, the Gothic Quarter very atmospheric and also convenient to places to visit and metro stops.

The apartment double pained windows so the nearby busy street is not an issue. It also has elevator access, air con, modern kitchen, good wi-fi and washer and dryer.

We were met at arrival and the details of the apartment were well explained.

We had a very positive experience and would highly recommend this apartment.

The apartment is beautiful and in a fantastic location.

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the apartment for one month during summer 2016. It is spacious, comfortable, and architecturally beautiful. It is on a main boulevard near the water with a view of Barcolonetta out the front window/balcony. To the left is Born, and behind the apartment is the Gothic Quarter. It's about a 8-10 minute walk to La Rambla and the Line 3 Metro (Drassanes). There is another metro stop in Barcelonetta about the same distance from the apartment. The apartment has an alley on one side, and at night the downstairs bedroom gets a lot of street/alley noise. We slept primarily in the loft bedroom which was much quieter. The beds are firm and comfortable.

The apartment is above a restaurant in a row of restaurants, and within walking distance of many great cafes, bars, convenience stores, etc. Although there is an elevator in the building, the apartment is on the first floor above the ground floor, and the stairs lead to a hallway with two apartments. We saw people once leaving other apartment, and we didn't hear people coming or going. It is not an apartment building where locals live; it appears to be more of a second apartment type building where some people rent out to tourists. Rarely did we run into people coming or going at the building door (on the alley), but the alley gets fairly regular foot traffic. We felt very secure here.

We cooked in the apartment, did laundry, worked remotely (great internet service), and for the most part recreated our lives in a great new setting. We did not have much interaction with the hosts (Rebeca and her brother Alex), but they were very nice and accommodating. It was definitely a great apartment for us -- bigger than we actually needed.

I recommend the apartment!

Car: not necessary

The apartment is in Pso.Colon, right in front of the Maritime Port and very close to the Beach.

It is located at the feet of Ciutat Vella, at the beginning of the Barceloneta and one block away from the Born district, in the convergence of 3 of the most special neighborhoods in the city.

Behind the apartment within the charming narrow streets of Ciutat Vella you will find plenty of bars, restaurants and small grocery stores. You can walk up to the city’s Cathedral or across towards the Ramblas, one of the main Landmarks of the city, it’s just a 10 minute walk.

To the other side of Via Laietana you can get lost into the Born distric which has a great historic value and atmosphere. You can visit the Born Market, the well known Santa María church or go shopping, as the area has some of the most fashionable and latest design shops.

Walking towards the sea along Paseo de Borbon where you can take a look at the boats you will come across the Barceloneta neighborhood with the most popular beach in the city full of live due to its restaurants, beach bars, shops and the sea walk where you can bike, skate or just take a walk.

Other close landmarks are the Ciutadella Park, a big and nice green area, or the Maremagnum with it’s singular shopping mall over the sea, the Barcelona Aquarium and the 3D Imax cinema.
