We are both just retired my wife worked in the catering trade.
I used to work as a contract manager on building sites.
The Owner purchased this villa in 2015
The reason we bought this townhouse is that we have been holidaying in caleta for the last 8 years and stayed in other places on fuerteventura.
The house is south facing and the views of the sea and mountains are breath taking. We can walk to all the places we like with in the area from the house.
It has a large swimmimg pool and a kids pool.
the main bedroom has a picture window where you are over looking sea and mountains.
We arrived at the property at about 9pm and it was completely dark in Fuerteventura. We had to find a safe, where we were to put in the code we were given by the owner, to get the key to the property. Even though we are two females of average height, it was extremely difficult to reach the safe and to put in the code in the dark. We were standing on tip toe and had great difficulty seeing the small numbers in the dark. It took us a little over one hour to open the safe and find the key to the door. The house was basic. Some of the kitchen equipment was very old and looked dirty, for example,the frying pans looked really old and we felt they did not look clean and we did not like to cook in them. The shutters on the main bedroom were broken and were closed for the first night and the next morning, we were unable to open them. We sent a text message to the owner in the UK and he the had them opened and we were unable to close them at night. It would have been nice to close the shutters at night and open them in the day, however they were broken. There was a shortcut into the nearest town of Caleta. The shortcut was across a field of very uneven surface, the field had many small rocks and lots of holes in the ground, so we found it a rather difficult walk and there was also lots of dog poo in this field, so it was important to watch where you put your foot. It took us about 20 minutes to cross this field to get into the town of Caleta, where there were many bars and restaurants. We did not feel safe crossing this field in the dark, as there was no lighting. It got dark at about 7pm in October, so if we did not go out before 7pm, we paid €5 to get a taxi into town. We could have gone into town around the road, however, it was a longer walk. We had to get a taxi home at night, otherwise it would have been a long dark walk.
There were two days of extremely heavy rain when we were there, so we were unable to take the shortcut into town as the field was filled with mud due to the rain. We felt we took good care of the owners property when we were there, and did everything we were asked to do, like turning off the electricity, and placing the key into the safe high up, and changing the code, however the owner did not return our deposit. This made it an even more stressful experience for us. We have booked properties through Owners Direct on many occasions and this was the least pleasant for us. I would not recommend this property. Lovely freindly people,good bars and restaurants all around. Good clean safe beaches.
Propriétaires très réactifs et arrangeant. Logement fonctionnel et globalement propre. Bien situé sur l'île et sans nuisances. Un peu juste en ustensiles de cuisine pour 4 personnes. A recommander.
