The name Corbières:
Corbières is an Appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) for wine in the Languedoc-Roussillon, and it is this region’s largest AOC, responsible for 46 per cent of the region’s AOC wine production. Red wine dominates the production in Corbières with almost 95 per cent, with 3.5 per cent rosé wine and 2 per cent white wine making up the balance. Carignan is the most common grape variety. The AOC was created in 1985, covers 13,500 hectares (33,000 acres) of vineyards and produces an average of 554 000 hectoliter of wine per year, corresponding to 74 million bottles.
Due to its size and geography, Corbières encompasses an enormous variety of soil types and microclimates. The wines from the region tend to be just as varied as the terroir. The region also experiences widely varied winds. The dry, Atlantic vent Cers frequently brings cold weather from the northwest while the area is normally under the influence of the warm, Mediterranean vent Marin.
The name “la Bade”:
La Bade stems from the Occitan word “Badar”, meaning, “staring with open mouth” as this is exactly the reaction you can expect upon seeing Domaine de la Bade situated in the picturesque landscape. Perched upon a lovely little hilltop, with 14 hectares of land surrounding the house and spectacular views of the Carcassonne valley and the Pyrenees, our gîtes are the ideal location to enjoy a sophisticated yet relaxed holiday in this charming region of France.
Here you will find attention to detail – those little things that make a holiday special. At this luxury yet small scale gîte complex, you’ll find five fully equipped holiday cottages with spacious living rooms, large bedrooms with very comfortable beds, a swimming pool with a stunning view where you can relax, read or chat.

Very warm welcome from the owners, both when we first arrived and though out our stay. Lovely touches like fresh bread delivered to our door each day and a meal arranged for the families on holiday.
Accommodation was perfect and immaculate, shared swimming pool was great and lots to visit in the surrounding area centred on Carcassonne.
All in all a very relaxing and pleasant holiday and highly recommended.
