Glen Rowan is ideally located for a peaceful Lake District break, near to the attractive village of Crook and only a short drive from the popular attractions at Bowness and Lake Windermere.

Crook is pleasantly separate from the more crowded towns and surrounded by views of rolling hills and the Lyth and Winster Valleys. Traditional pubs serving delicious food are dotted throughout this green and pleasant area. Good food, peace and quiet are guaranteed.

Steeped in history and folklore, Crook was once home to the area's mill and industrial workers. Traditional cottages dating back to the 17th century still stand. The Lyth Valley comes alive with Damson blossom in the spring. Make sure you try some of the Damson delicacies on offer at the local bars and restaurants. Why not take home a bottle of Damson Gin as a souvenir?

Lake shore attractions, sophisticated shops and evening entertainments are easily reached in Bowness village, just a few miles away. On your way, you'll also pass the prestigious Windermere Golf Club.

Luxury at its best.

A fabulous cottage, very luxurious and a heaven to come back to after a days walking. A central location to Kendal, Lake Windermere, Ambleside, Keswick etc. Stunning views from the cottage, the lambs in the fields opposite kept us entertained whilst sitting on the balcony, or looking out of the main cottage window, we had daily visits from a woodpecker on the bird feeder, kestrels, deer etc.

This was our first visit to the lakes and with the luxury of the cottage we couldn't have asked for anything better. Pauline and Dennis the owners were very pleasant and a great welcome from Pauline with the scones and jam on our arrival.

We will definitely be returning.

Nice Winter Break

We stayed for a week from 4 Nov and had a lovely stay. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. It is set in lovely countryside and the views are breathtaking. We wanted peace and quiet which we definitely got. Thoroughly great break.
