Why Mr C Ferns chose Rogač
We came to the area on a sailing holiday in 2003 and fell in love with the place. In particular we anchored over night in Rogac bay which is the bay that our apartment now overlooks. We looked at places on Brac, Hvar and Solta but this was the only place we found that wasn't in need of major works.
What makes this Apartment unique
Location, location, location! The peace and tranquillity to be found here is fantastic. Solta is quieter than the other islands with a more local feel and yet has the easiest access to Split. Since the apartment(s) are only a 5 minute walk from the port there's no need to have a car.

Holiday review May2008
I travelled alone to Solta in May 2008 and stayed in the lower apartment in “Morski Vuk” whilst my friends occupied the one above. Rather than take the 30 minute free coach ride from the airport to Split and then wait for an available ferry I decided to opt the quicker route by taking a speed boat direct to Solta. This only involved a five minute taxi ride from the airport to the harbour in Trogir followed by a relaxing coffee before the half hour journey direct to the island. You probably can save about 2/3 hours of journey time and feel you are arriving in style. The cost is around 100 euros for the trip one way irrespective of the number of people so can be more affordable if in a group.
When you arrive in Solta you are greeted by picturesque little harbour and immediately know this island is going to be relaxing – it doesn’t disappoint. There is one small café which overlooks the bay and is an ideal spot to stop have another coffee before the 5 minute walk up the hill to the apartment. A rather steep climb, however, you are rewarded by superb views across the bay.
The lower apartment is equipped with excellent air-conditioning and the modern double glazed doors and windows offer a high level of security although I must say this is an island where you can leave your doors unlocked all day and come home finding everything as you left it. There was constant hot water for the shower and the kitchen facilities were more than ample for my requirements. The two bedrooms consisted of a double and a twin and the lounge/dining area had plenty of room for a large circular dining table and chairs.
I preferred to cook outside using the brick built bbq or alternatively taking a 5 minute walk to the nearest restaurant - superb home cooked food and plenty of wine for £10. What a result.
I was fortunate to have friends staying at the upper apartment so was able to enjoy the use of their spacious sun terrace. It is east facing and really is a sun trap - great for early morning breakfast whilst checking out the views over the bay or even just star gazing at night.
By contrast to the tranquil nature of the harbour we were able to charter one of 5 available yachts for the day.
I cannot recommend this location enough. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway this is most certainly it. Should you feel the need for more activity you are only a cheap half hour ferry ride from the many crossings into the centre of Split.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and you're welcome back anytime!
What an amazing realaxing peaceful spot! My partner and I spent 4 weeks in Solta in July and loved every second.
The apartment is simple with everything provided to ensure a comfortable stay! The BBQ was a highlight for us, we recreated the traditional Croatian Peka several times!
The terrace was where we spent most of our time enjoying the sunshine, the view over Rogac and the general peacefulness of the place!
Colin was very helpful and pleasant to deal with, he provided us with an excellent information pack on many aspects of the island life.
The only thing I would state is that the house is halfway up an extremely steep hill but we found it not to be an issue at all!
We are definitely hoping to return to Solta and this property again I. The future!
We are always delighted to hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay as much as we always do!
The views from the terrace do indeed offer spectacular reward for the walk up the hill.
We arrived in this beautiful place to find the villa clean and ready for us. Perfect views over the bay, just perfect with a glass of local wine. Cooked once or twice but mostly ate in the excellent and great value pizza / pasta restaurant overlooking the clear waters and the moored yachts or the lovely restaurant at the end of the lane and turning right.
The nearest beach was a five minute walk away and was a nice clean pebble one with toilets and a marked swimming area. a few minutes further led to the creche area with the inflatables which ours sons - 14 and 13 - loved. Further round there were numerous swimming / sun bathing slabs which were perfect. The track to the left of the port leads to some more bathing areas and a couple of small bays.
There is a bakers in the port, otherwise it is a trek up the lane to the shops for those basics .15 minutes uphill.
Stormosko is superb and well worth the bus ride. There is a small beach to the left of the port which has a coffee / beer / half pint of wine shack in perfect surroundings
Lovely place.Thank you
We are always glad to hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay and particularly appreciate it when they take time to write a few words.
Thanks very much!
Translated for me by Google:
Rental ideally located close to the arrival of the ferry. Quiet. You can not hear the tenants of the upstairs apartment. The view from the terrace is superb. Perfectly equipped. Sofa bed in the living room. Barbecue. One downside, the wifi was down to the last days but worked perfectly at first. In short, you can rent eyes closed !!
Many thanks for your review, we are sorry that the wifi stopped working and will look into that but we are really pleased that you enjoyed our little sanctuary!
Un grand merci pour votre avis, nous sommes désolés que le wifi cessé de travailler et se penchera sur cela, mais nous sommes vraiment heureux que vous avez apprécié notre petit sanctuaire!
The small island of Solta is a surprising oasis of peace and tranquillity, given it's convenient location just a few kilometres from Split.
For lots of info on the Island, have a look at its web, please ask us for link.
Split itself is an amazing Roman city. The main shopping/restaurant area is actually within the walls of the old Roman Palace. Without doubt the main attraction in this area is the sailing. With 1800 islands to explore, most with quiet, secluded anchorages, it is one of the most beautiful places in the world to go sailing, and there are many charter companies in the area. English is widely spoken, especially amongst the younger generation. There is a small harbour just a few minutes walk from the apartment, so representing an unrivalled opportunity to partake of a wonderful land-based sailing holiday! (Owner is a yacht skipper). Alternatively, you may wish to sit back with your favourite tipple and enjoy the stunning scenery!
Other Activities: Just about anything you require can be hired from Split. This is an ideal location as a land base for a sailing holiday.
