We have just re-visited Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage for the second time and had another fantastic holiday there for 2 weeks. We enjoyed the cabin so much last year that we persuaded my parents to join us and they stayed in the owners other cabin, Bridge Cottage. They thoroughly enjoyed it too.
Beau is the most amazing host - extremely accommodating, thoughtful and generous. We also had some really fun evenings, watching the sun set over the Smoky Mountains. You never tire of the views.
This year we brought our mountain bikes with us so we went on several long rides on nearby trails.
Lulu's Restaurant in Sylva was recommended to us this year and we had a really nice lunch. The catfish was delicious.
What more could you ask for. Beautifully furnished cottage with national park and 2 national forests within 1/2 hour. Bryson City is hidden gem for those of us who shun the resorts and the hords.
A fantastic location to access the park and other great outdoor adventures in the area. We would definitely stay there again. Unreal views, very quiet and just a very beautiful place to stay.
We had a lovely time at the cabin! Easy to find, just big enough for my husband and I to enjoy a weekend together. I loved that it was a 5 minute drive to the grocery store yet once in the cabin you felt like you were in the middle of no where.
We stay in a lot of cabins due to our love of trail racing and my biggest concern is always cleanliness. This cabin was clean, tidy and had just what we needed for our race weekend in Bryson City.
The only downside was the lack of internet access. The wifi was down but Beau, the owner, tried everything he could do to get in touch with the service provider so it really was out of his hands. And plus, did we really need to work while up in the beautiful mountains?
Thanks for a great retreat!
We really enjoyed our stay in Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage. We've been to the Smokies in the summer, this was our first time to be there in October, and the first time to stay on the North Carolina side. We love the mountains and like to spend time hiking the trails and taking in nature. It's a short drive to the Park and also about 20 minutes from Cherokee. We found Bryson City much less congested than Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. This cottage felt very secluded, but was only 5 minutes from a nice size grocery store and Bryson City. The leaves were beautiful and we really enjoyed our time there. The cottage was very comfortable and well kept. Our only disappointment was that due to the rain, we couldn't get full use out of the deck or the Pointe, buy that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. The views from the deck and the Pointe are gorgeous. We would definitely like to stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay in Bryson City and we are very glad we chose this cabin over a hotel! It's centrally located near Cherokee and approximately 30 miles from Pigeon Forge. The cabin is neat, clean, and spacious. I loved that the bathroom is huge with plenty of space to keep your necessities. The open floor plan living space was great. A suggestion if I may: place the recliner where the love seat is so tired legs can be elevated after a day of activities. We met the owner, Beau, and appreciated his kindness in letting us park our motorcycle trailer on the trail to The Point. The Point is near the cabin and offers a covered cooking area, bathroom, screened porch, fire pit and an awesome view. Short walk from the cabin. Great place!
What to do on site or nearby: Let a professional ORVIS fly-fishing guide show you where to reel them in. Visit Cherokee and see Unto These Hills for insight into local native-American history. Dine in renowned restaurants. Or go hiking, rock climbing, biking, golfing, horseback riding, shopping, swimming, boating, water-skiing, or rafting. Whether you like pure relaxation, moderate activity, or frantic action... this is the place for you!
