Conch Shell Cottage NEVIS at the beach, private, near Nisbet Plantation

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom, sleeps 2

Perfect for honeymoon, romantic holiday, one person retreat CONCH SHELL COTTAGE is located on a secluded white coral sand beach with the privacy of a picket fence draped in flowering bushes and palms and acres of beach yet without being too isolated since the small 4 star Nisbet Plantation Resort and its bar and restaurants and spa is beach foot steps away. The interior, in Caribbean style vaulted ceiling, is bright, inviting and charming with original art by local artists, is immaculately clean and very well maintained. The screened-in porch has a table, chairs, hammock while the patio has comfortable chaise lounge chairs for sunning, relaxing and reading. You can see the beach and hear the waves curling over the pristine reefs and enjoy the magnificent clear evening sky with moonlight and incredibly bright stars. You will be met at airport or ferry and brought to the cottage FREE OF CHARGE. A caretaker will be available.

Why we have so many repeat guests: Conch Shell Cottage is in the best location on Nevis, on a beautiful white coral sand beach near pristine coral reefs and privately hidden by palms and tropical flowering bushes, yet close to a small upscale resort and its bar and restaurants.

Guests mention how incredible the staff is and how welcome they feel. Marlon, tall and smiling, will greet you at the airport or wherever your boat lands on Nevis. He will transport you to the cottage and happily answer your questions on the way. Then Bonnie, the caretaker, will greet you, give you an orientation to the cottage and island, and be available if you have any questions during your stay. Jeannette, the maid, has carefully cleaned the cottage for you. Henry, the gardener, has created a beautiful garden for you and will try to give you fresh fruit that he has grown. Pre arrival, I will send you info on special car rental, restaurants, things to see and do, airline info, etc.

thank you from R+S biology profs, PA: Jane, we certainly enjoyed CONCH SHELL COTTAGE. The major plus is its seclusion, the porch for reading/lounging and the chaise lounge chairs on the patio with the view/sound to the ocean/waves. We are happy to recommend CONCH SHELL COTTAGE for a honeymoon or any holiday. CONCH SHELL is a vaulted ceiling, one room cottage with attached screened-in porch and outside patio. There is a kitchenette area, a nice sized closet, separate bathroom with shower and a desk/vanity area. Jane has equipped the cottage with all the possible items that you might need/want from dish soap to wine glasses. There is a TV that helped us keep up to date with the news, too! We kept the large window and door to the screened-in porch open so we could see the ocean and hear the waves hit the beach from the large comfortable bed. We particularly enjoyed the porch because it is ideal for reading, eating and/or relaxing. There is a small patio outside the porch with great chaises lounge chairs facing the ocean view.

How our repeat guests found Conch Shell / Nevis: Until recently we only advertised our luxury 1 or 2 bedroom CORAL REEF VILLA (HomeAway #187350 or #216701) which is privately located on almost an acre of spectacular mature gardens nearby. It is so popular that guests who wanted extra days stayed also at CONCH SHELL and often wanted to return to both places. Others discovered CORAL REEF/CONCH when they had stayed at resorts or other villas on Nevis, and after exploring, decided the Nisbet Beach location was the most beautiful, convenient (with the small resort beach side facilities), secluded enough and yet without being too isolated. Other guests had been on other islands and when they visited Nevis decided that the Nisbet area was where they wanted to stay. Nevisians are known for their friendly smiles and welcome to visitors. Nevis is special with only about 10,000 people, no high rise buildings (nothing taller than a palm tree allowed), no large cruise ships, no gambling.

CONCH SHELL COTTAGE is at the best location on Nevis .. right at the beach and next to a boutique 4**** resort that can only take 70 guests max, and where

you can run a tab if you are my guest. Very convenient, and they provide l4 lounge chairs at their beach which my guests can use. It is by far the least expensive choice

at the best location on Nevis. It fills up quickly, as does Our villa CORAL REEF VILLA which is on another 3/4 acre above Conch Shell Cottage 187350 is property # and it has a fabulous king size bed, swimming pool, laundry room,

magnificent gardens and hammocks and lounge chairs etc but it costs US 2500. per week.

No cleaning fee, no security deposit at either place.

Nisbet Beach area is away from the hustle and bustle of any town and it's always with a happy feeling of homecoming to return to our special spectacular ocean views and refreshing breeze. The trade wind breezes are a special blessing in the Caribbean where they almost constantly blow and have a cooling effect which off sets the average temperature in Nevis which is usually in the low to mid 80's. The trade winds keep the palm fronds rustling and swaying and are a soothing feature, especially on our side of Nevis which is in the perfect location to get the maximum benefit from the trade winds coming from the North East. No need for anything other than quality ceiling fan and a dip in the sea where the temperature stays about 82 degrees.

Quiet island, peaceful cottage

  • 5 of 5

From the well planned arrival, where Jane took care of everything, to the final departure, this trip was peaceful and restful. My wife and I stayed at the Conch Shell Cottage for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Jane met us at the cottage upon arrival and gave us the keys along with some tips. She also brought a book about the history of the island that my wife really enjoyed. Jane arranged a tour of the island, at our convenience, and our tour guide, Marlon, was a treasure. He is proud of his island and knows much of it's history. We were blessed by our time with him. Marlon also rented us our car and made the process so easy, I almost never want to rent in the US again.

We also used Jane's recommendation of Dennis Small for an offshore fishing trip. Though the fish weren't biting much, Dennis and his deckhand David, stayed with it and made sure that both of us came home with a fish. What a wonderful experience. We ate that fish most of the week, after grilling it on the barbecue at the cottage.

We enjoyed a dinner at TurtleTime our first night of arrival (I would not recommend this drive if it's your first time driving here from America. There are closer spots to eat.) We also had an AMAZING lunch at the Golden Rock Inn. The lobster salad is highly recommended.

There is a small resort, Nisbet, down the beach a bit. They have a beach barbecue on Thursday, vendors and live music until 11pm or so. There was not a large crowd and we enjoyed shopping with the local artisans. After shopping, we laid out in the yard of the cottage and stargazed while listening to the live music.

Jane really put the cherry on top of this visit by helping coordinate our departure so that I didn't have to worry about it. That was such a relief for us, that it really made a huge difference. This cottage and this island are a wonderful respite from daily life. I hope you get a chance to enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you Jane and Ron for helping us have a wonderful and restful vacation.

It doesn't get much better!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful retreat surrounded by flowering gardens and waving palm trees with crashing waves as a constant reminder that you are next to a fantastic tropical beach. The small cottage is cozy, bright, and airy; well supplied, and well maintained. The house cleaning and grounds people are friendly and efficient and management is super helpful and proud of their property and reputation. 5 stars for sure.

Conch Shell Cottage is paradise!! The perfect little cottage to listen to the waves and watch palms!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly loved our time at Conch Shell Cottage!! Wish we could have stayed longer!! Even though our flight to Nevis on Saturday was canceled by Seaborne, Jane arranged and paid for us to be picked up in St Kitts on Sunday and brought to Nevis. Marlon was waiting for us and brought us to the cottage where our rental car and Jane were waiting for us!! Everything was perfect from then on!! To be able to open my eyes in the morning and see the palms waving and the ocean beyond and hear the wondrous sound of the waves was something I never wanted to leave!!! The beach is just a stroll away and you can walk and enjoy to your hearts content!! We did not find much interesting snorkeling but the water was lovely!! The garden of the cottage is beautiful and quite comfy!! The island of Nevis is unspoiled! Not the crazy touristy rat race of St Martin!! We enjoyed our island tour with Marlin, which again Jane paid for. He was able to show us so many wonderful things and knew the history of the island very well!! We enjoyed the bath!! The lovely lady there gave helpful hints on oils and island treatments for arthritis!! We enjoyed the restaurant on Pinney Beach with the killer bee drink but chose not to spend a lot of time at the touristy beach there. The island is full of monkeys and donkeys that just roam!! The goats and sheep roam as well but they are actually owned by people!! Jane had to tell us how to tell the difference between the sheep (tails down) and goats (tails up) because they are so similar there, the sheep do not grow the wool like home. The cottage itself is small and perfect!! It has a small refrigerator, but Jane loaned us a good sized cooler for keeping beer cold, a small gas stove and a microwave!! All the cookware and utensils needed and a nice grill in the garden! I cannot say enough good things about the cottage, the island or Jane!! We had a wonderful time and strongly recommend!!

Wonderful, fantastic, will do this again. Great location and very easy to get to.

  • 5 of 5

This was the first VRBO we have every stayed at, and we would do this again immediately. The owners have thought of everything, from transportation to the cottage, helping us rent a car, setting up a tour of the island, restaurant recommendations, and excursions ideas on the island. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very close to the beach. We didn't need a/c because of the ceiling fan and the ocean breeze. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. You will love the island of Nevis. I felt safe there and the islanders were the friendliest people I've met in a very long time. The owner was there when we stayed at this cottage and was extremely helpful to us and very kind. We loved it so much we have already re-booked another vacation at this property.
