This location can’t be beat. The house is quaint and has all the amenities.
Great Location on Seneca Lake
We really enjoyed staying at Mike and Mary's lake house. Everything was as described in the listing. We especially appreciated the comfy beds and the artistic touches in the decor. Mary was so nice and responded right away to any questions we had. This house is close to many wineries and restaurants. Silver Thread Vineyard is your neighbor - be sure to go for a tasting! We highly recommend Stonecat for their Sunday jazz brunch and also beautiful Watkins Glen State Park. Stop in at Hector Handmade across the street from Stonecat. They have items by local artists - including unique stone pieces made by Mike (the owner)!
We would have given 4-1/2 stars if we could. The only reason we didn't give 5 is that we had a couple really nice fall days and the windows on the lake side couldn't be opened.
Seneca Lake September 2018
Comfy & homey & well-maintained by the Callahans; beautiful view of Seneca Lake from above; perfect location - lotsa vineyards & breweries & distilleries nearby & right between Toughannock and Watkins Glen state parks - our favs; excellent sunset(s) [when the rain stopped ! 👍😳]
Excellent property - excellent time
Wonderful location - great time, responsive hosts, highly recommended
House was located near to everything and the sunsets on the dock were amazing. It was so relaxing to be able to look at the lake everyday and have some family fun. The area had gotten some devastating flooding prior to our stay and Mary called to let us know what was going on and offered us a partial refund if anything did not meet with our expectations - everything was fine and we had a good time!
Cozy cottage with beautiful view
The cottage was much bigger than we had expected. It was very relaxing and comfy. Our daughter loved playing in the water and all the boats made it easy to enjoy our time even though it rained almost the entire week we were there. It is a little tough to have young kids with all of the steps but we managed. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. My daughter played fetch with their dog Seneca in the water and had a blast. Would definitely recommend.
The surrounding area is incredibly dense with wineries overlooking the lake. You can have a great time touring the area and tasting wines. There are 10 wineries and a brewery within a 10 minute drive, and one winery within walking distance. The property is 15 minutes from Watkins Glen, home of the Watkins Glen International Race Track, Watkins Glen Gorge, and Glen Harbor Marina. It's also surrounded by the Finger Lakes National Forest, with many nice hiking trails. You-pick fruit orchards and honor-system fruit and vegetable stands are available frequently during the summer and fall. Skyland Farm, a fine-craft gallery with items from over 500 artists and a feeding farm, is a must-see. The cuisine in the area is delicious with dining atmospheres ranging from casual to elegant. Two miles across the lake, the Rainbow Cove Restaurant has slips for boats. Check out their breakfast!
