Interesting property in a great position
Enjoyed the experience. The house is in a great position for a lovely walking holiday.
The house had everything we needed.
However the downstairs bedrooms are damp and I certainly wouldn't stay in the winter. I had to have the dehumidifier on and this produced over a pint of water every day.
We had a wonderful time in Jo's beautiful cottage. It is well equipped with everything you could need in a fantastic location for walking and enjoying the Peaks.
A lovely homely cottage with lots of space.
We were a party of 7-ourselves & my son, his wife & 3 children. The cottage provided us with all the accommodation we could wish for & the large open plan kitchen/living room downstairs with a snug lounge upstairs worked well for us. There were lots of activities for the children & we loved the map over the sink. The heaters were efficient & the plentiful hot water was very welcome. The facilities were good & everything we needed was provided. The additional cloakroom downstairs was very useful!-as was the enclosed garden. The surrounding countryside was beautiful & Ashbourne was an interesting town. We didn't feel the need to travel to the high peaks.
A delightful cottage
The cottage was in a lovely quiet location but close enough to all local amenities. Well equipped with everything a family requires. We will certainly recommend it to all our friends & hopefully will return sometime in the future.
Lovely comfortable cottage
Our family of 5 was very comfortable in this charming and deceptively spacious cottage. It is very well equipped and also has plenty of games, DVDs, puzzles and books that kept us all entertained when we were not out exploring the fantastic countryside. There are lots of walks right from the front door and it's a great base from which to explore the area. We loved it and hope to return at some point to do all the other walks and excursions we just didn't have time to do. Thank you!
Lovely, deceptively spacious, cottage in a great location
Bad points: No phone signal, no wi-fi, limited TV channels, couple of miles from nearest shop.
Good points: No phone signal, no wi-fi, limited TV channels, couple of miles from nearest shop.
Our family of 5 adults and 3 children (1, 3 & 5) stayed here for a week. It was surprising how relaxing it was with us all in one house. Having no phones to distract us from the wonderful countryside, meant loads of fresh air, picnics, walks and conversation.
Heights of Abraham and The National Forest Farm Park were particular highlights and Alton Towers is within 30 mins. In between these visits, Dovedale, Tissington and Thorpe Cloud provide delightful places to walk.
The house itself can probably do with a bit of a spruce up, but that is part of the charm. Also the layout, the sitting room with the only TV is upstairs, was odd, but the large kitchen diner is a great community space, and TV was forgotten for the week anyway.
The 3 kids spent the whole time with smiles on their faces, which led to the adults enjoying the break. No cries of I'm bored here.
Great relaxing holiday.
