About Lesley O'Donnell
Lesley has enjoyed holidays with her own family in the area for many years, initially camping before moving onto a static caravan in Southwold. In 2015 she decided to buy a property and has spent most of her free time refurbishing and decorating it. The majority of the furniture (including bedding) and kitchen equipment was new. The cottage was ready in March 2016 and rapidly fully booked for that month and April. July and August were also very busy, so book early to avoid disappointment in 2017! This is a new venture for Lesley who works part time for the NHS. Lesley's dream is that St Mary's Cottage will provide holiday-makers and weekenders with a relaxing homely environment.

Why Lesley O'Donnell chose Halesworth
This property stood out from many others available because it had a warm and comfortable feel to it. Indeed, the children of one our guests have renamed the cottage 'Cosy Cottage'! The cottage needed a little bit of TLC when it was purchased but this has been remedied. One of the great advantages of the cottage is that it has off-road private parking.
What makes this Cottage unique
A holiday in the country, close to the coast but not as expensive as the busy coastal towns. The cottage is full of character and is ideal for relaxation and well located to use as a comfortable base.

Everything about our stay was really good - thank you
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Our stay was all too short.
Lesley is very accommodating and understanding. Top marks from us!
Gem of a Suffolk cottage
St Mary's Cottage is a delighful place to stay. Well-equipped with all you would need for a stay near the coast. I loved the sunny kitchen and garden. Situated in a small village with nice walks nearby and a playground it ticked all my boxes. Would definitely be happy to revisit.
Very pretty well equip
Had a good stay but no pub near by good walks, it would of been great if you could easily walk to a pub in evening.
This guest stayed in St Mary’s Cottage over Christmas. The cottage was decorated for Christmas inside and out, there was a Christmas tree, a welcome hamper with fizzy and Christmas Yule log, the fire was laid and ready to light. The guest did say that the cottage is ‘pretty and well equipped’.
Although we have asked, the guest will not say why he gave us 3 Stars. We can only conclude it is because he was disappointed that there is no pub nearby. We do not claim that there is, but there are plenty of pubs in Halesworth which is about a 20 minute walk, much of which is along a very pleasant foot path. Furthermore, there is a pub in Blyford, which can be reached in about 45 minutes via beautiful water meadows.
Lovely old character cottage in quiet village
Well equipped cottage with lots of character in a quiet village and its own private garden for enjoying the sunny weather. A pint of milk in the fridge on arrival plus a hamper was very welcome after a long journey. The cottage was spotlessly clean with everything you needed for a comfortable and entertaining stay. A pub in the village would have been perfect, but there are plenty of pubs nearby.
Near to market town Halesworth and short drive to the coast, with Southwold and wild beaches, RSPB Minsmere, so a great location for visiting some of the best of Suffolk. Walking along the beach at Covehithe is not to be missed.
Lovely cottage in a great location. Well equipped with kitchen dinner wonderfully large windows.
The owner has put a lot of effort into making sure guests have a great holiday! A welcome pack was an added bonus! Great selection of board games!! Well equipped kitchen including washing machine and sheets and towels provided.
Many thanks for your review. And thank you for leaving it so clean and tidy. We would be pleased to see you return.
The cottage is ideally located in north Suffolk. Southwold, Walberswick and Aldeburgh are all a short drive away.
Norwich and the coastal towns of Norfolk are also a comfortable drive away.
Holton is 1 mile from Halesworth which is an attractive town boasting a good range of independent shops, stores and restaurants. There is a farm shop and garden centre close by which has a cafe and a shop with a wide range of fresh food.
