Wilton Cabin Rental Photos and Description

A contemporary styled lodge in heart of country yet walking distance to town

'Hare House' is a beautiful luxury wooden Lodge, set in two acres of English garden; the River Nadder flows through the garden and there are beautiful views of the countryside and the Italianate church of Wilton. Designed in 2014 by the owner Sara, to be a calming and peaceful space, it offers the perfect base for a couple or individual seeking the quiet of the countryside, together with the many amenities of the small town of Wilton, the ancient capital of Wessex, just a few minutes walk away. Only 3 miles from Salisbury, it is also a good base to explore Stonehenge, the New Forest, Bath and Dorset. Wilton has a good range of shops including a bakery, supermarket, fruit and vegetable store together with pubs and cafes for meals. It is home to the Earl of Pembroke who lives in Wilton House, which has been used as the setting for many films, including Pride and Prejudice and which is open to the public.

Hare House is a self-contained Lodge, adjacent to our home. It has a well equipped separate kitchen; luxury bathroom with bath and shower; and a super Kingside bed which can be separated into two full-size single beds if required. The sitting area has a lovely Swedish log burner which provides warmth in the cooler days and evenings. The Lodge is very well insulated and always feels very warm and cosy.

We appreciate how important a comfortable bed and offer a choice of pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets, together with fluffy white towels and luxurious toiletries.

Your Welcome Pack will have everything you need to get you started for breakfast, and will include homemade jam, bread from our local bakery, muesli and granola and a variety of teas and coffee.

The River Nadder which flows through our garden is renowned for its trout fishing; our section of the river also has a variety of specimen fish. If you are interested, in fishing during your stay, please ask us for more information.

We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are many wonderful walks through the Chalke Valley and beyond. We have many walking guides of the immediate area and the New Forest and can offer advice on walking.

About Sara Hunter

I love meeting people which is why I decided to join Homeway as a host in September 2015. I also know how important it is have privacy when you are travelling - my husband John and I travel widely and we love it when we can find somewhere which offers the perfect balance of leaving us alone to get on with our holiday, but being on hand to offer local knowledge and advice - ideally over a cold beer! I hope we can achieve this with our guests.

I am in my mid-fifties, have spent 30 years being fairly full-on in a career in the Third Sector and Education and am now slowing down a bit, working as a consultant. This gives me time to really get on top of my garden and begin my journey into self-sufficiency. We have sheep and chickens and I have rebuilt the raised veg beds and ordered the greenhouse so I can start growing my own seeds for the year's crop. Our guests are welcome to roam free in the garden and on our island over the river where we have built a natural plunge pool for the more adventurous. It is refreshing after a hot day in the garden! John and I look forward to meeting you and sharing a special part of Wiltshire with you.

Myself and my partner stayed at the Hare House for two nights for a relaxing get away and we got exactly that and more.

Super friendly greeting upon arrival, the lodge is stunning as well as the garden and river, we couldn't have asked for more.

Thank you

Zoe and Sam

Beautiful country get away ☺

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I had a lovely mid week getaway at Hare House. The pictures don't do it justice. It's a lovely balance of new, clean, but also rustic. The decor is lovely. You are greeted by Sara who is very welcoming. Your stay starts with freshly made cake and a well stocked tea and coffee making facilities. Out the front and you are straight into the village, out the back your are straight into the countryside. Amazing! Also for animal lovers there are friendly sheep, a happy dog, chickens, and some swans! The location is a perfect jump off point for people wanting to explore Wiltshire. We have a rule of not going places twice but for Hare House we could make an exception.😀

Peaceful,perfect tranquility.

  • 5 of 5

We were greeted by our delightful hosts upon arrival, and were taken aback by the beautiful Hare Lodge, and it's amazing setting. With the River Nadder running through the two acres of grounds it was a tranquil piece of paradise. Once we stepped inside the Lodge we were transfixed by the light, airy, luxurious and well equipped lodge with different stunning views out of each window. Our welcome pack contained fresh bread, homemade jam, butter, milk, fresh juice, homemade cake, tea and coffee, and freshly laid chickens eggs. Sarah was delightful providing us with information about local walks, pubs, shops and other amenities and places of interest. The lodge was warm and hot water was plentiful. We were lucky and very happy to help Sarah with her four new born lambs. !!!! They were such time wasters !!!! This truly is a peaceful hidden gem. We can't wait to return.

A wonderful weekend in an amazing location. .. outstanding accommodation with a delightful host set within a quaint village. A great find that was a relaxing one! Walking distance to local pubs /restaurants and the bus stop for Salisbury. Riverside walks on the door step .. Well equipped lovely rooms .. A roaring fire ..fresh bread .. And the most comfortable bed ! Hare house isn't just for romantic getaways but for friends , fun, laughter and fresh air too!! Only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer !
