About Harriet Morris
Having always loved the outdoors and everything the beautiful Lake District has to offer, we fell in love and chose Cartmel for a number of reasons. It really is a picture postcard English village and this 'thimble full of diamonds' whilst still steeped in history has become a fantastic foodie destination and whilst a great destination in its own right is superbly placed for exploring all of a The Lakes. Then there are the race days on what has been described as the prettiest racetrack in the UK. When we first stumbled on Maggie Puddle, we instantly fell in love with it. Two cute, cosy cottages that have been sympathetically restored and we hope you agree offer a real 'home from home.' We live locally and are on hand for any questions you may have at any point during your stay.

Local Services & Businesses
We had a wonderful time staying at this lovely property in November. We were greeted with roses, champagne and a delicious citrus cake. When you're welcomed in this fashion, you can't help but have an excellent experience. Perfectly located - truly within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, market, church, etc. There is quite a bit to see and experience in the Lake District so our plan is to return. Guess where we will be staying. There is no need to look further for a more perfect property. This is it! (I am rating the property 10 stars.)
Lovely cottage and a great location
Maggie Puddle is a lovely cottage - 6 of us stayed there in cosy comfort and spent a long weekend getting familiar with the joys of Cartmel - visits to the cheese shop and brewery are highly recommended and a short walk to the Pig and Whistle for very nice food when we weren't cooking.
All in all a very pleasant stay and would happily come back to both Cartmel and the Maggie Puddle!
One small point - do tell people there is great WiFi in the cottage - I couldnt see it on the details after we had booked and my 15yr old daughter was terrified that there might not be any and she would suffer from FOMO - whatever that means! As it was she could happily sit in a corner with her phone.
A delightful cottage in the centre of Cartmel
We have thoroughly enjoyed our week in Maggie Puddle Cottage. It is a charming cottage with lovely touches to make guests feel very at home. The location is fantastic with only a short walk to the village centre where there is a huge choice of places to eat and attractive shops.
We enjoyed breakfast in the garden every morning except one and had we wanted to cook, there is a well equipped kitchen.
Bathrooms have just been refurbished to a high standard and the beds are very comfy- all important factors in a successful holiday.
Thank you for a great week.
Snug, Charming, Comfortable and Delightful
Maggie Puddle Cottage is a lovely place to stay in the completely charming village of Cartmel, just at the edge of the Lake District. The house is well appointed, very very tidy, quiet for being so close to the village and a perfect place to base your explorations of the nearbye countryside. Perfect for a couple and likely very comfortable for a small family. Would visit again.
The perfect stay!
Maggie Puddle is the most beautiful cottage and is the perfect place to get away. It is spotlessly clean, really well equipped and full of quaint and quirky features - we loved it. The fizz, flowers and delicious homemade cakes that welcomed us were a lovely touch. Cartmel is a brilliant little village full of amazing places to eat and drink. Really cannot fault.
