About Fran Carmichael

I purchsed this property in 2008 with the intention of holiday letting. After successfully letting the property for a couple of years, I decided to move in and have lived very happily in the apartment for the last 5 years with my 2 daughters. I have now moved to Bamford village, approximately a mile away from the apartment, as I love the area so much. I am therefore on hand to help you with any queries you may have during your stay and able to service the property myself, ensuring the highest standards.

Immaculate!

Perfect in every way, clean, exactly as described and reviewed. Fran was extremely helpful calling us enroute to advise of an area powercut, which was resolved by the time we arrived. She even checked that the local pub were still serving food. She also mailed me in advance about a road closure, and her detailed instructions about keys etc. were perfect.

It was a joy to have such a clean, tidy and well equipped place to stay. I normally choose somewhere with outside space, but as it was a short two night stay and a busy time of year, I compromised. But I was still able to enjoy watching the birds and squirrel on the bank outside the window. Thank you Fran.

Comfortable, Well Equiped Apartment, Charming Hostess

We have just spent a most enjoyable long weekend in Fran's apartment. The accommodation is just as described, and true to the photos. The place is spotless, really well equipped and the beds extremely comfortable. The location is perfect for walking in the Peaks, with a number of walks being possible from the apartment itself. There is even a bike store if you want to go cycling. Lots of villages like Edale, Castleton and Bakewell are easy to get to by car as are Haddon Hall and Chatsworth.

As a hostess Fran was excellent, responding quickly to queries and being very accommodating with a couple of things we asked for. We are very much looking forward to our next stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Lovely and spacious apartment in a great location

My husband and I stayed in Fran's apartment with our 19 month old son. It was great not to have to worry about stairs so we could let him run around quite happily. The apartment is modern and very spacious with everything we needed. It's also very conveniently located for the main sights like Ladybower reservoir and Chatsworth House. Fran was easily contactable and responded quickly to any messages. The only suggestion I would have would be to upgrade the Sky box so that there were more channels available and also the ability to log into your own Netflix/Now TV account. Also the listing said that there was access to the communal gym but we weren't allowed in.

Fantastic apartment in a great location close to Ladybower Resevoir. Great hub to explore local area

Lovely spacious apartment with everything you could possibly need for a break away from home. Good pubs nearby for food and drink and a stone throw away from the resevoir and lovely walks. We intend to return again the next time we are planning a break in the Peak District.

Comfortable, well equipped, fantastic location

Came up to Sheffield for a week for the World Snooker Championships, decided to stay out in the Peak District and fit in some hiking too. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped (only thing missing was a pair of kitchen tongs!) and the location is fantastic. There were loads of great walks from the door or within a 5-minute drive. Would definitely recommend the following: Win Hill, Bamford Edge, Birchin Hat + Alport Castles, Cutthroat Bridge + Whinstone Lee Tor. In the evenings after walks, we were able to catch up on snooker on the TV (there is a Sky box, also freeview (with red button) and a DVD player). The drive into Sheffield itself is not bad. About 20 minutes.

Just to comment on a previous review regarding no outside sitting space - this was a consideration when we were initially looking for properties, but we definitely didn't miss it (although, granted, we had no children with us). It is so easy to get outside from here - especially to walk over to the reservoir just up the road and loads of trails from there. Also, the living room window looks out on a downstairs neighbour's bird feeder, which was teeming with life all day long... robins, thrush, tits, even a greater-spotted woodpecker.

We found the oven to be a bit slow to cook in, but this was not a massive problem. The food at the Yorkshire Bridge Hotel over the road was a little above average, but we ate there twice as the location was so convenient. The food at the Ladybower Inn just up the road was superb though! (Have the lamb rump! So good!) Would also recommend the food at the Royal Oak at Hurdlow if you're out that way - although it's about half an hour away.

The internet was a little slow (maxing out at just under 1mbps) - I mention that only for note in case this a requirement for your stay. I was still able to get some work done, but not as much as I would have otherwise (I guess that's not really a bad thing!) An initial mix-up regarding our arrival date was handled above-and-beyond our satisfaction by Fran the owner. Quite the opposite from a previous poor experience on Owners Direct. Would definitely recommend and will almost definitely be back! Loved it.

SUPERB APARTMENT IN A FANTASTIC LOCATION

A very well-appointed and maintained apartment which was a great base for our holiday. Dealings with the owner were very easy and prompt - definitely something we would book again. Everything you could think of to make your stay feel like you are home from home, books, dvd's, games if you want to stay in and chill out in the evenings. A well equipped kitchen if you wish to stay in and eat or there is a pub just over the road (we didn't have a great experience here) and the Ladybower about 10 mins walk in the other direction.

We drove about 10 minutes into Hope and found a fantastic pub The Cheddar Cheese where the food was fantastic
