About Stacy Stephens

Michael and Stacy are the owners of this one-of-a-kind log cabin situated south of the Blue Ridge parkway overlooking Lake Jocassee. We are both classical musicians which we enjoy now primarily as a hobby. Michael a professional flutist for 20 years and Stacy an opera singer for the past 12 years. We enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the land surrounding the cabin and Brevard. Stacy spends most of her time in the garden fussing about and Michael with a honey do list...

Stacy Stephens purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Stacy Stephens chose Asheville Area

When we first drove onto the bridge and saw the cabin and its environs we went crazy. It really is a story book setting and hard to photograph. The sound of the water falling and moving is never ending - almost like sitting next to the ocean. When we are there the rest of the world is gone and the peace of the landscape inhabits our minds and beings. Brooksong is its own little secluded world.

What makes this cabin unique

What is unique is the water, seclusion, and the beauty of the log cabin itself. The interior is warm and inviting. Many furnishings are antique, unique, and some made by Stacy and her 84 yr old shop teacher friend Walter. Rooms are spacious with three rooms for gathering - 24x16 double vaulted ceiling sun room with 10 windows, a double vaulted ceiling den next to the dining room and kitchen, as well as a loft with a desk and log bed futon. The covered deck is also large and a great place to eat, relax, or to watch the rain feed the waterfall and streams.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are prepared to depart from Brooksong physically, but emotionally

we will be here for a few more days! What a wonderful retreat for the

brothers and sisters-in-law this has been.

Fun for the boys and relaxing for us!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place. The boys had such great adventures climbing hills and playing in the creeks and waterfalls. We have shared your site with a few of our friends as well. We are 'adopting the house' as OUR mountain home and will be requesting same time next year when you have the calendar available. The kids even said the vacation was better than Disney. I know for us it was a heck of a lot more relaxing... a very special home and we appreciate you sharing it with us.

Owner's Response: A lovely couple and two charming boys. They sent me a photo of the two young adventurers in front of the stream and fall colours. The cabin and property provides for joy, fun, and peace and I am so happy that they will be returning. - Stacy

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was all we could have wanted and more...pictures do not do justice! We stopped by the grocery store on the way in and enjoyed cooking in the fully-stocked kitchen. Our kids (3,6, and 9) loved the beautiful waterfall and grounds. Stacy was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to all of our questions.

Wonderful experience!

A little piece of Eden!

  • 5 of 5

I don't know how anyone comes to own such a beautiful piece of property, but I am so glad you shared it with us. A spectacular waterfall, a babbling brook, and breathtaking landscape. No neighbors in sight and only the sounds of nature. Splendid! The house was so comfortable and cabiny. We especially liked the sunroom den and the massive enclosed deck. (It was great for keeping the dog out of trouble.) You should be aware, however, that such serenity leaves civilization behind! The cabin is 20 minutes down a twisting road from the main road into Brevard, and then another 15 minutes to the grocery store. You just need to figure the time into your daily plans.. We were perfectly happy to spend a couple of our days just vegging out on the deck. This place is truly spellbinding.

Secluded and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed 5 peaceful days at Brooksong. The cabin is beautiful and the grounds are spectacular. We loved the fireplace and enjoyed both morning and evening fires. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Get groceries on the way to the cabin and save your time for relaxing. You will be happy you saved the trip back to town. The cabin is the destination.

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

'Brooksong' is a memorable and cherished experience. Both the cabin and the property were lovely and peaceful. Coming from a busy Spring season of baseball and lacrosse with four boys, it was just what our family needed for our Spring Break. The cabin is tastefully decorated and amply supplied. We had every single thing we needed to prepare our meals. The cabin is so welcoming inside that it was sometimes hard to chose between staying indoors and exploring outside. So we enjoyed both. Playing the board game Risk on a rainy day with a fire blazing was a favorite. But sitting on the swing as the boys hung out in their Enos was also nice. Stacy was prompt in all of our communication and eager to offer helpful information. We took advantage of having a hefty supply of firewood delivered to the doorstep and were so thankful we did. Between the fireplace in the sun room and the fire pit by the creek, we used almost every log. Transylvania County is an inexhaustible place of fantastic hikes and waterfalls; it's just an amazing place to enjoy God's creation. And I can't imagine coming 'home' to a more satisfying place than this particular cabin. I would heartily recommend the place to anyone and everyone.

A beautiful holiday destination

  • 5 of 5

As you can see from the pictures posted on the site, the house and grounds are gorgeous. The pictures don't even come close to how beautiful this place is. The decorations, furniture, fireplace and well stocked kitchen will impress even the toughest critic. The bedrooms are warm and inviting, and it leaves you wanting for nothing. The stream and waterfall on the property were the perfect place to just relax and let our dogs enjoy being outdoors. We love this home, and the is our second, but not our last visit. You will not be disappointed if you choose this cabin - it is the perfect getaway! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
