About Stacy Stephens

Michael and Stacy are the owners of this one-of-a-kind log cabin situated south of the Blue Ridge parkway overlooking Lake Jocassee. We are both classical musicians which we enjoy now primarily as a hobby. Michael a professional flutist for 20 years and Stacy an opera singer for the past 12 years. We enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the land surrounding the cabin and Brevard. Stacy spends most of her time in the garden fussing about and Michael with a honey do list...

Stacy Stephens purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Stacy Stephens chose Asheville Area

When we first drove onto the bridge and saw the cabin and its environs we went crazy. It really is a story book setting and hard to photograph. The sound of the water falling and moving is never ending - almost like sitting next to the ocean. When we are there the rest of the world is gone and the peace of the landscape inhabits our minds and beings. Brooksong is its own little secluded world.

What makes this cabin unique

What is unique is the water, seclusion, and the beauty of the log cabin itself. The interior is warm and inviting. Many furnishings are antique, unique, and some made by Stacy and her 84 yr old shop teacher friend Walter. Rooms are spacious with three rooms for gathering - 24x16 double vaulted ceiling sun room with 10 windows, a double vaulted ceiling den next to the dining room and kitchen, as well as a loft with a desk and log bed futon. The covered deck is also large and a great place to eat, relax, or to watch the rain feed the waterfall and streams.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are prepared to depart from Brooksong physically, but emotionally

we will be here for a few more days! What a wonderful retreat for the

brothers and sisters-in-law this has been.

Fun for the boys and relaxing for us!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place. The boys had such great adventures climbing hills and playing in the creeks and waterfalls. We have shared your site with a few of our friends as well. We are 'adopting the house' as OUR mountain home and will be requesting same time next year when you have the calendar available. The kids even said the vacation was better than Disney. I know for us it was a heck of a lot more relaxing... a very special home and we appreciate you sharing it with us.

Owner's Response: A lovely couple and two charming boys. They sent me a photo of the two young adventurers in front of the stream and fall colours. The cabin and property provides for joy, fun, and peace and I am so happy that they will be returning. - Stacy

Amazing property-You will not be disappointed!!!

  • 5 of 5

Brooksong is one of the nicest, most beautiful properties I have ever stayed. The cabin and the interior design was just what we were looking for. When you pull in the driveway, all the stress just leaves your body. Make sure you bring food and ll you need so you do not have to leave, because you will not want to. You cannot beat having a 30' waterfall right in "your" backyard. Everything you need is right there on the property. We enjoyed the firepit next to the "babbling" brook, having lunch by the waterfall, dinner on the covered porch, and having the choice of either type of grill. My chocolate lab had an awesome time as well, so many new smells for him and new places to explore. It is so nice of Stacy and Michael to open their home to my family (including my best friend Dawson). You will not be sorry if you go for a visit. I certainly hope to be able to visit again. It was a fantastic weekend getaway.

Private, secluded, relaxing... a hidden gem (shhh don't tell anyone)

  • 5 of 5

Brooksong is a truly special place and we’ll definitely be looking to return. Of all the cabins we’ve been to, Brooksong has been our absolute favorite. Private and secluded in a world of your own with a beautiful waterfall, grounds, and immaculate cabin. Wow! We LOVED it!

Exactly as advertised but so much more. I actually hate writing this in a way... I’d prefer Brooksong remain our hidden gem. ;)

Thank you Stacy for a lovely stay!

Beautiful, Relaxing Trip

  • 5 of 5

The Brooksong Log Cabin is such a warm, cozy, comfortable, spacious and relaxing place. We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace with our warm blankets provided. The owner has provided for every imaginable detail. Decorations are not elaborate but so very welcoming, like coming home. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Nature at it's best! Even with the current drought, there was still a babbling brook, waterfall and green grass. I imagine after a heavy rain, this place is outstandingly beautiful! Stacy is very attentive and made sure we got to the cabin safely. Words can't describe the beauty of this place, you just need to come yourself.

Wonderful time.

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us Stacy. The grounds of the property are gorgeous. Peaceful, secluded, quiet. No other cabins in sight. Did I mention quiet? I loved that. Makes you realize how noisy it is even if you live in a small city. Lots of waterfalls in the area, endless miles of hiking trails through beautiful mountain forests that are fairly close. We hiked Whiteside Mountain, Rainbow Falls Trail in Gorges State Park, and Looking Glass Rock Trail In Pigsah Forest. All very beautiful trails. Also toured waterfalls all over. The book at the cabin was very descriptive with good directions to find the falls. There are so many and they are everywhere! You would not know they were there just driving around without this book. If I was going to complain about anything, which it was not that big of a deal for us, there is only 1 shower. Just have to take turns or use the bathtub.
