About Stacy Stephens

Michael and Stacy are the owners of this one-of-a-kind log cabin situated south of the Blue Ridge parkway overlooking Lake Jocassee. We are both classical musicians which we enjoy now primarily as a hobby. Michael a professional flutist for 20 years, now a techy, and Stacy an opera singer, residential home builder, and administrator for Cradle of Prayer. We enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the land surrounding the cabin and Brevard. Stacy spends most of her time in the garden fussing about and Michael with a honey do list... there are more photos on our website with the same name. Our contact address also has the same name ending 99 at yahoooooo!

Stacy Stephens purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Stacy Stephens chose Brevard

When we first drove onto the bridge and saw the cabin and its environs we went crazy. It really is a story book setting and hard to photograph. The sound of the water falling and moving is never ending - almost like sitting next to the ocean. When we are there the rest of the world is gone and the peace of the landscape inhabits our minds and beings. Brooksong is its own 6 acre secluded world.

What makes this cabin unique

What is unique is the water, seclusion, and the beauty of the log cabin itself. The interior is warm and inviting. Many furnishings are antique, unique, and some made by Stacy and her 85 yr old shop teacher friend Walter. Rooms are spacious with three rooms for gathering - 24x16 double vaulted ceiling sun room with 10 windows, a double vaulted ceiling den next to the dining room and kitchen, as well as a loft with a desk and log bed futon. The covered deck is also large and a great place to eat, relax, or to watch the rain feed the waterfall and streams.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are prepared to depart from Brooksong physically, but emotionally

we will be here for a few more days! What a wonderful retreat for the

brothers and sisters-in-law this has been.

WOW! Where do I start? We are very picky when it comes to the places we stay at, not in a way that it has to be spotless and clean but as far as the description summarizes the actual place, "beach condo" has to be ON THE BEACH, not 3 blocks away, "secluded cabin" has to be hidden from everyone's eyes, etc. And when the description of this cabin says "enchanting" you better believe it! There aren't enough words to describe this place! Besides the setting, which has it all: a waterfall, hiking trail and a creek, the cabins itself is a marvel! It does not feel like "a rental", it feels like you are an invited and a dear guest of the hosts. This cabin is very secluded, far away from people eyes yet minutes from shops and restaurants. Inside of the cabin is very well maintained and appointed, beautifully decorated and stocked with everything you might need, from blankets and towels to salt, pepper and spices!

We never stay in the same place twice, because we always want to explore new places but are definitely coming back to this cabin. Wonder what it looks like in the winter, although one will need a four wheel drive vehicle to get there in the snow!

Thank you for hosting us at your enchanting cabin.

Amazing mountain cabin..very private..absolutely beautiful..Brooksong being a perfect name!!

My husband, 15 yr. old son, myself, and our 4 dogs stayed at Stacy and Michael's cabin this July for 9 days. It was just what we needed....peaceful, back to nature, private, and sooo relaxing. The cabin was beautiful and had all the amenities that we needed. Stacy and Michael were fantastic hosts allowing us our family time at their cabin and interacted only as needed. The dogs couldn't get enough of exploring the yard, playing in the stream trying to catch the fish, the waterfall, and just having fun. Our son was also playing in the stream and enjoying the waterfall catching and releasing of course salamanders, fish, and crayfish. The bird feeder right by the back patio allowed for us to see some beautiful local nuthatches, finches, and a cardinal. We even refilled the feeder a couple of days before we left just to continue the enjoyment. When the daytime sounds slowly faded (except for the sounds of the stream), the bats replaced it with churping at night...which was really cool. Perfect getaway for the entire family and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to be "off the beaten path", enjoying nature, and just a beautiful relaxing, family vacation!! Thank you Stacy and Michael for a wonderful stay.

We loved our stay at Brooksong! Such a lovely, secluded mountain retreat that we thoroughly enjoyed!

  • 5 of 5

This place is amazing! The sounds and sights are food for the soul! For being off the beaten path, it’s well worth the journey, especially after a full day of kayaking or hiking. The falls are so impressive! They seemed much larger than described! So beautiful and relaxing! The mountain home is cozy and comfortable. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. Several spots where you can hang an ENO and nap! The babbling creek is outstanding! Our adult children were mesmerized! Really enjoyed the swing in the woods, and walking under the falls! My husband saw a bear in the back yard, my son saw deer, and I saw gorgeous, rushing falls every morning with a cup of coffee, and every night with a glass of wine! To sum it all up, when we were in church that weekend, my husband and I winked at each other singing, How Great Thou Art...

When I look down

From lofty mountain grandeur

And hear the brook

And feel the gentle breeze...

We are so thankful that Stacey and Michael share Brooksong as a VRBO!

Beautiful Place really beyond words. You must see it!

  • 5 of 5

Owners are great, very accommodating with pets. Great communication. The place, hard to describe other than a wonderful slice of heaven. There is no exaggeration in the marketing of this place, it is very private, it is surreal with the sounds of running water and the waterfalls. The place is well decorated and lacks nothing.

If you are lucky enough to get to stay here, you are lucky enough!

Peaceful, private retreat.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 spent a lovely week tucked into the privacy of the mountains at Brooksong cabin. The soothing gush of the nearby waterfall made our time on the porch enchanting. There are several trails on the property that are easy for little children including one that leads to a second higher elevation waterfall and another that leads to a tree swing beside one of the creeks with a view of the big waterfall. The cabin has all of the comforts of home and the best reading light you can wish for in the sunroom. We didn't leave the property for an entire week and just soaked in the peace. Recommended for those looking to relax away from it all but still have a little adventure right outside your door even with younger children. A must do is your favorite beverage and conversations at the deck beside the big waterfall but bring the bug spray in the warmer months!

Spring get away

For me this was the perfect getaway. Totally private, beautiful cabin in the woods, with a creek and waterfall out the back door. The house was very clean. The owner was very gracious and we accidentally met her sister, which was a great help to us. We sat on the deck and listen to the water falls, so peaceful. I loved it.
