About Stacy Stephens

Michael and Stacy are the owners of this one-of-a-kind log cabin situated south of the Blue Ridge parkway overlooking Lake Jocassee. We are both classical musicians which we enjoy now primarily as a hobby. Michael a professional flutist for 20 years and Stacy an opera singer for the past 12 years. We enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the land surrounding the cabin and Brevard. Stacy spends most of her time in the garden fussing about and Michael with a honey do list...

Stacy Stephens purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Stacy Stephens chose Asheville Area

When we first drove onto the bridge and saw the cabin and its environs we went crazy. It really is a story book setting and hard to photograph. The sound of the water falling and moving is never ending - almost like sitting next to the ocean. When we are there the rest of the world is gone and the peace of the landscape inhabits our minds and beings. Brooksong is its own little secluded world.

What makes this cabin unique

What is unique is the water, seclusion, and the beauty of the log cabin itself. The interior is warm and inviting. Many furnishings are antique, unique, and some made by Stacy and her 84 yr old shop teacher friend Walter. Rooms are spacious with three rooms for gathering - 24x16 double vaulted ceiling sun room with 10 windows, a double vaulted ceiling den next to the dining room and kitchen, as well as a loft with a desk and log bed futon. The covered deck is also large and a great place to eat, relax, or to watch the rain feed the waterfall and streams.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are prepared to depart from Brooksong physically, but emotionally

we will be here for a few more days! What a wonderful retreat for the

brothers and sisters-in-law this has been.

Fun for the boys and relaxing for us!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place. The boys had such great adventures climbing hills and playing in the creeks and waterfalls. We have shared your site with a few of our friends as well. We are 'adopting the house' as OUR mountain home and will be requesting same time next year when you have the calendar available. The kids even said the vacation was better than Disney. I know for us it was a heck of a lot more relaxing... a very special home and we appreciate you sharing it with us.

Owner's Response: A lovely couple and two charming boys. They sent me a photo of the two young adventurers in front of the stream and fall colours. The cabin and property provides for joy, fun, and peace and I am so happy that they will be returning. - Stacy

Amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

Brooksong was an amazing experience all around for our family of 4. From the moment you step out of the car, you are transported by the sound to the waterfall. There is literally a 30ft waterfall right next to the house. Endless options for outdoor hanging out. We had a fire in the firepit next to the brook, as our son explored the water and surrounding area. The house itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was especially well-stocked. The internet worked very well and we had great phone reception (for better or worse).

Wonderful cabin and beautiful property!!!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Stacy and Michael for sharing Brooksong with us... We loved the cabin, waterfall, nice deck and fire pit by the creek. We had a great vacation and especially enjoyed driving to Gorges National Park and hiking to Rainbow Falls. We were also fortunate enough to see a white squirrel in Brevard :) We would recommend stopping at Ingles Market in Brevard to get groceries and then relaxing at the Cabin upon arrival the first night as suggested by other reviewers. Highly recommend Brooksong!!!

Beautiful home in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Description and photos are spot on. The home would be absolutely perfect for a family or group of friends. We had snow and freezing rain for our entire trip, so couldn't enjoy the property as much as we would have liked. With nice weather, the yard and surrounding area would be amazing. Was still amazing even with snow. Fireplace was clutch and the huge windows in the family room are wonderful. Brevard is a cute little town.

If going on hikes in the area, Rainbow Falls is a must!

We had a great time. Thank you!

Amazing property-You will not be disappointed!!!

  • 5 of 5

Brooksong is one of the nicest, most beautiful properties I have ever stayed. The cabin and the interior design was just what we were looking for. When you pull in the driveway, all the stress just leaves your body. Make sure you bring food and ll you need so you do not have to leave, because you will not want to. You cannot beat having a 30' waterfall right in "your" backyard. Everything you need is right there on the property. We enjoyed the firepit next to the "babbling" brook, having lunch by the waterfall, dinner on the covered porch, and having the choice of either type of grill. My chocolate lab had an awesome time as well, so many new smells for him and new places to explore. It is so nice of Stacy and Michael to open their home to my family (including my best friend Dawson). You will not be sorry if you go for a visit. I certainly hope to be able to visit again. It was a fantastic weekend getaway.
