About the property

The Coach House at Gateham Grange is a converted barn on our working farm nr. Dovedale. The Manifold Cycle Trail is just down the road. Peaceful, dale walks. Stands next to the quaint old stone dovecote. Sleeps 2-6 persons in a double and family room. Having a toilet on both levels this barn suits guests with limited mobility as well as families. Spacious kitchen and comfortable lounge with large patio windows which catch the sun.

Gateham Grange nestles at the foot of Wetton Hill and is between Alstonefield, Wetton and Hulme End (each about 1.5 miles away), all having lovely pubs serving good food.

Being located on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border the list of nearby attractions is endless! Busy Hartington, historic Chatsworth and thrill seeking Alton Towers are close by. There's rock climbing at the Roaches, water sports at Carsington Water and nearby fishing, golf and horseriding.

During your stay challenge yourself to climb to the top of Wetton Hill. Standing at 1300ft above sea level you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the Peak District in all its glory.

Ideal location

Just returned from a 3 night stay with my son and dog. The cottage was home from home, very clean with everything you need. Ideally located for exploring the wonderful Peak District either by car or on foot. Local pubs all dog friendly. The cottage was very cosy surrounded by farmland, cows and sheep. Teresa kindly met us on arrival to show us round the cottage and was nearby if we needed anything. We visited Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell, Dove

Lovely peaceful location

We had a great stay at Gateham Grange. The house was extremely clean and tidy. It felt like a home from home. An added bonus was the absence of traffic noise which we endure at home, with just the sound of the wildlife.

Teresa, Robert and Sam were very friendly and welcoming to us including Buttons our hamster. We particularly enjoyed the tour of the farm with Sam. For townies like us it was really interesting.

We are looking forward to coming back in the future.

Home from home

This cottage was a cosy well equipped home from home for us when exploring this lovely area. We were lucky to have lovely sunny weather so we were out every day, but the cottage would be great to stay in all day too with plenty of books, dvds and games. We loved our stay and enjoyed looking out of the kitchen window at chickens or sheep wandering past! Teresa msde us very welcome. Thanks!

Great place to stay!

Charming Peak District farmhouse with welcoming hosts

We spent 7 nights total in England starting the weekend at this lovely farm and finishing in London.

We arrived here late in the evening and were excited to find a plate of cookies and farm-fresh eggs on the table. I was the first to wake in the morning and was excited to see a handful of sheep sleeping in their pasture about 6 feet from the kitchen window. It was an awesome sight!

We spent two nights here and 3 children ages 13 to 7 thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in the sheep barn holding baby lambs, feeding the chickens, gathering eggs, feeding their bull Hagrid and the fresh country air. My two sons and I climbed the large, steep hill that is a few hundred yards away and the views were incredible!

One thing that is not specific to the house, but more to the area is that restaurant reservations are a must and most stopped serving food around 8:00/8:30pm.

Last, but not least, our hosts were very welcoming and made us feel at home. Our biggest regret was that we couldn't stay longer!

Perfect for walkers with dale walks from the door and for cycling Manifold cycle trail is just down the road. Nearby fishing on the River Dove. Pavilion Gardens and Opera House at Buxton, Carsington Water Alton Towers all close by.

With quaint market towns and farmers' markets there's something for everyone.
