About Kay Strawson
Kay and Richard Strawson. Keen though not very competent skiers who love being in the mountains in the winter and also in the summer for walking and mountain biking.
Kay Strawson purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Kay Strawson chose Bourg-Saint-Maurice
This is a beautiful village built on the North American theme of spaciousness and convenience. The accommodation is by French standards generously proportioned and comfortable. The skiing is extensive as it includes the Les Arcs ski area which is more then enough for a week. However this is part of the much larger Paradiski area which links Les Arcs with La Plagne. There is a superb range of mountain restaurants and bars.
What makes this Apartment unique
As well as being a perfect destination for a skiing holiday, Les Arcs is also ideal as a summer destination for those who like activity holidays. There is extensive walking of varying levels which is helped by some of the ski lifts being open in July and August. The River Isere which is down in the valley hosts all types of water sports and there is also parapenting and mountain biking available in Les Arcs.

Excellent ski location
Beautiful, clean and comfortable apartment nicely located within the wonderful Ski Village of Arcs 1950. Very tastefully equipped and furnished. Locker rooms so well placed that skiing in and out is very easy.
Very enjoyable stay
Perfect for a family of 4
Great location. Fantastic holiday. Thanks!
Great, well-equipped apartment
Stayed in this apartment before and again had a really good family break. Everything that you need is in the apartment and it’s roomy enough for up to 6 adults comfortably.
Perfect little retreat
What a cracking little find this was. The pictures on line don’t do the place justice from a size perspective, for a family of 4 it was ideal. Les Arcs 1950 is a picturesque little village on the slopes with plenty of bars and restaurants to visit over the course of a week, including a nice restaurant in the complex itself (no need to wrap up warm and go outside).
We decided to drive from the UK and the car park (pre-booked online separately) was underneath the complex so no dragging suitcases through the snow. Everyone in the complex was friendly and helpful. The fact they spoke English helped immensely with my French being no better than Del Boys!
A true ‘ski in ski out’. As part of the apartment, we had 2 lockers in the heated locker room that was just a flight of stairs away from our room where we were able to dry our ski boots and skis each evening with no issues at all. All of a 2 metre walk to the snow outside and off into the village and onto the piste.
Within the apartment you never heard any other people from the neighbouring apartments. The apartment itself had everything we needed, a fridge, hob, dishwasher and an iron! Plus as much cutlery as you’ll ever need.
Plenty of rental shops in Les Arcs 1950, again we pre-booked our equipment online and obtained the gear when we arrived.
A great selection of runs for all abilities, you are able to explore all the Valley on your skis, from Vallendry and Plan Peisey (the forest area which is beautiful) to the Arc 2000 bowl (more open with both steep and flat runs). Plenty of lifts to take you all over the place and the vast number of different runs meant the runs were not too busy, even in February.
Kay, the owner, was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with from the time of booking to when we were present in the apartment.
All in all, a very enjoyable visit and highly recommended.
Only advice I can give, if you decide to drive from the UK during peak holiday season, is to arrange your driving time between Lyon and the Valley (and visa versa) either very early in the morning or late in the evening, otherwise you get hammered in traffic. As we did!
Best place we've stayed in
I've been in two minds about leaving a review for this place, its so nice you'll want to keep it a secret. This was our second year in this apartment, the owner couldn't do more to help and the whole process for booking was super easy.
The apartment is right on the slopes, totally ski in and ski out with easy access ski lockers and boot storage. Its a large apartment and very comfortably, it fitted our family of 4 without tripping over each other or complaints and that's with 2 teenagers. It's well situated in the village so its easy access to the shops as well as the slopes. Due to its location in the complex its also just across an indoor walkway to the next door building's swimming pool so you can go for a swim every night without having to go outside. Swim shorts are fine.
Its stocked to a high level of furnishing and has little things like uk plug adaptors and decent wifi. Beds are super comfortable and large enough for a 6ft tall teen.
I judge all other apartments based on this one now and its a struggle to find one as nice.
Great apartment, friendly owners and simple booking. Perfect
Epic location, size and amenities. Literally couldn’t have asked for better
Ski-in, Ski-out apartment
