I have been a resident in the Turks and Caicos Islands since 2000. I had the cottage built in 2007 upon request of many travelers looking for the 'non resort' type of accomodation. I enjoy sharing my local knowledge of the islands with my guests.
Terri Tapper purchased this cottage in 2003
The usual island story.. I came here in the year 2000 thinking I was going to stay a few years but never left. I fell in love with the Turks and Caicos Islands and now consider it my home.
The unique location of this property is it is in a quiet residential neighborhood but just on the edge of all the tourist attractions. Having your morning coffee on the deck you will be surrounded by lush native trees and chirping birds.
We arrived on the Saturday to be treated with a little oasis away from the hub of resorts in Provo. The cottage was well equipped and perfect for our needs. The car parking space was a bonus as we hired a car to see as much of the island as we could. Terri was a courteous host and made sure that we were sorted for our first day. We both loved the two dogs and the wildlife (the lizards were cool). All in all a very pleasant stay on a wonderful island.
Me and a friend went to Turks and Caicos for our first time and stayed at the Cottage and found it perfect. It was just the right size with everything you could need. It was clean, bright, and comfortable. The area seemed really safe. It wasn't too hot but the air conditioning was available if we needed it. Terri was incredibly nice and helpful - super available if we needed anything. Lucky, the dog, was very friendly as well! The pool across from the house was such a wonderful dip after a day of walking. We got around just fine to and from the beach and to and from shops without a car. I would recommend using the lantern provided under the sink for walking anywhere at night because it gets kinda dark. Otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend this place - I plan on returning.
I heard about Turks and Caicos back in high school and rumours of the island being a province for Canada. That dream finally came through on a recent visit to the island( my first time ). Since i am a single person, adventurous individual and not a fan of inclusive resort i was looking for other type of accomdations. Found this little gem of a place owned by Terri and meet more of my expectations but was fascinated this place was tuck in a very quiet neighborhood, near the beaches and shops.
The cottage is clean and very private. Bathroom and plumbing , fridge , plumbing , fan all worked. The unit has an AC however I was able to sleep comfortably and well at night thus the need to use the air condition was not necessity .
Terri was a gracious host, his nephew as well and everyone needs to meet her dog Lucky :)... they were my tour guides and recommended which places to go.
Overall , i will book again to this property and have hinted to Terri already .
I came to TCI for peace, solitude and great weather. Terry's cottage was clean and private. Terry and Paula with a pleasure to be around. Both incredibly helpful hosts. While staying for a week at their cottage I never wanted for a single thing. All the appliances were working, the bath was clean and the deck was outfitted with chairs and a shade umbrella. The interior of the cottage has two single beds and was decorated with ceramic tile, wood light fixtures and the ceiling fan. All in working order. slept peacefully every single night the cottage It is situated in a small, quiet development called garden loop with a shared pool. My entire vacation was perfect Thank You Paula, thank you Terry! l would recommend your property to anybody who wants to break away and have an enjoyable week sun and sand.
My friend and I recently stayed at the cottage. Although small, it was very well equipped and suited us beautifully. Terri, the owner, was very gracious. She even drove us around on our arrival to show us the beach and the grocery store. We decided to buy a few things; however, we didn't bring any money. Terri was kind enough to lend us some.
The island is beautiful and the beaches are magnificent. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. When we return, we will definitely stay there again.
The cottage is in a nice quiet residential area, but close enough to walk to many bars and restaurants (5-45 minutes, depending on where you want to go) and Long Bay Beach. The owner also rents bicycles so you can be very mobile. We did not see a need for an automobile, and after a morning of diving, rode the bicyles all the way up to the ferry dock and around the Leeward area, then to the grocery store, and finally to a bar for a drink before heading back in the evening. The cottage is very clean with lots of towels and the deck was one of our favorite places to hang out. There was always a light breeze which seemed to keep any bugs away. There is a handy rinsing station outside for your water sports gear and clotheslines to hang it on. The owner made sure we had everything we needed and was very helpful both before and during our visit in answering our questions.
On the way to the cottage, we had our driver stop at the IGA for about 10 minutes while we picked up some fresh produce. He charged us $30 for the fare, including the stop. They had some HUGE avocados that lasted us for days! We didn't go out to eat a lot, but our dive operator dropped us off at the Thai Orchid one day, and we found the food to be a good value for the price. We were able to walk back to the cottage from there in less than half an hour.
We had a lovely visit and I would definitely stay here again the next time in Provo!
