House close to York City Centre

About the property

4-bed house with large kitchen diner including AGA, garden and open fire. Newly refurbished to a high standard.

10-mins walk to city walls and Gillygate, 15-mins walk to York Minster, plus close to a regular bus route.

The house is a good size with 3 double bedrooms with king sized beds upstairs and a 4th bedroom downstairs with up to 2 single beds.

There is also a separate living room downstairs with a TV and DVD player, so please feel free to make use of them.

The kitchen is an excellent size with a large kitchen table which seats 8 people.

Off the kitchen is a utility room with a washing machine, which you have full access to and a downstairs W.C.

Guest Access:

You have access to the entire house inc AGA, washing machine and dishwasher.

There are no locked rooms.

You have full access to the rear garden, which is not shared.

Interaction with Guests:

I am often travelling with work and recently relocated to Gloucester. My close friend Nicola oversees all bookings and changeovers with guests and will be available to help you during your stay. Nicola is from York and still lives in the city with her young family and will be able to provide advice on things to do, places to eat, etc. in York and the surrounding area.

The Neighbourhood:

The property is located 10-mins walk of the city walls and Gillygate, which has a variety of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bistros and only 15-mins walk for the famous York Minster that lies in the heart of York City Centre.

York is a renowned historical tourist destination, with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants plus tourist attractions such as the Shambles, York Minster, the Yorvik Viking Centre and the National Rail Museum.

There is easy access to the surrounding countryside such as the North Yorkshire Moors and coast, Castle Howard and Beningborough Hall.

Getting Around:

There is good access to York City Centre with a frequent bus service or 10-min walk to Gillygate and the city walls. The city centre is a short 15-min walk.

The nearby (2-min walk) frequent bus route takes you directly to/from York Station (which is otherwise a 25-min walk or a 5-min (traffic dependent) taxi ride. The bus route will also take you to various parts of the city centre.

York has excellent rail links as it is a rail hub located on the East Coast Intercity line from London to Edinburgh and the transpennine route from Manchester (including a direct train from Manchester Airport), Leeds and more.

There is information on taxi services provided in the property information pack. Taxis from the station are available without booking.

Other Things to Note:

The main cooker is an AGA (mains gas fuelled). If you prefer there are numerous restaurants, takeaways and shops within easy reach (there is a microwave too!).

Enjoyable family trip

Excellent accommodation that was very clean and well equipped with everything we required. Good location for walking to the centre of York. Parking easy and there was a handy corner shop at the end of the street. Children's park 5 minutes walk away which our boys enjoyed. Thank you.

Beautiful house, really welcoming and well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property for my mums 50th birthday present and we couldn't have asked for more. The house itself is stunning with plenty of room. Upon arrival there was a welcome basket which was such a lovely touch and the Yorkshire snack were well appreciated by all. The house has everything you could need with a huge array of cooking utensils, travel cots and highchairs. It was perfect. The booking process was super easy and roger has been brilliant at liaising back and forth with any queries prior to the stay. Would definitely recommend.

We recently stayed at the house with our grown up children and new grandchild for an early Christmas get together. From the start Roger made it very easy with the booking and accomdated our needs. We arrived to a lovely gift box and a beautiful warm house.

The house is a real home from home well equipped. Easy distance to town. We are looking at booking again.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay in this property.

The house it's self is beautiful with lovely comfortable beds and clean fluffy towels. The kitchen /dining room is a great space and very well equipped.

Location wise it's only a short walk to the city centre and we found it very convenient.

Thanks for having us Roger!!

Beautiful family home in heart of York City Centre

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a family birthday celebration and had a wonderful weekend. The kitchen/diner is beautiful and everything you could possibly need is already there. The rooms are great sizes and the beds are super comfy. It is such a short walk into the City giving you the opportunity to explore! I couldn't recommend this place more - we will definitely stay again. Thank you!
