Welcome to Maison de Thau

Maison de Thau is a charming 19th century fisherman's house situated within the historic castle walls in the heart of the old town of Meze.

It has breathtaking panoramic views of the I'etang de Thau from its open plan living area.

Maison De Thau has been tastefully and sympathetically restored this year to a high standard and includes:

An open plan top floor living area comprising of a brand new, fully fitted kitchen complete with washing machine & dishwasher. The dining table comfortably seats six and has stunning panoramic views of the lagoon.

On the first floor is the double bedroom with ensuite. The bedroom opens up onto a cosy sitting room with a small balcony.

There is a single put-you-up bed for occasional use.

Owing to the age of the property it has steep stairs so may not be suitable for all guests

About Tamsin Mackinnon

I work as a producer director, and divide my time from Meze and my home in London.

In 2015 I took a sabbatical from work and set about renovating Maison de Thau, which had not been touched since 1950's.

Meze has a twice weekly visiting market selling fresh produce.

On the sundrenched port resturants line the waterfront and offer locally sourced food.

Vistors to Meze can relax on the local beach and swim in the calm waters of the Étang de Thau or take a bike ride through the stunning vineyards stopping to sample the local wine and discover picturesque villages in this unspoilt corner of France.

  • The brand new shower room has a lovely rain shower, sink with cupboard beneath it, and a loo.

Maison de Thau is 5 mins walk from the beach and the pretty port that is lined with waterfront restaurants. The house is situated in the tiny historic winding streets of the old town. There is no shortage of amenities close by. There is a traditional Meze has one of the best sailing schools in france. A cycle path around the lake. Ideal for a ride to Bouzigues. Which is famed for its oysters. Nearby there is no shortage of vineyard for wine tasting. The other side of the lake is natural thermal spa that dates back to 17th century. It has fantastic massage jets. A 20 minute drive you can wild river swim and canoe.
