About the property

Maisonette over two floors, in Whitby, North Yorkshire Moors

Our maisonette is situated on popular Silver Street and has private access at ground floor level (below our other lovely maisonette - see owners direct: code number 8134873). The property has a small entrance hall with an elegant wide staircase leading off to first floor bedrooms and bathroom . Also off the hall is a good sized lounge with original period features including a large bay window and careful attention to furnishing and décor to complete the period feel in keeping with the lovely seaside setting. Through the lounge you will find a spacious and bright dining room with again, lots of attention to décor , a great room to eat together or sit around the table and enjoy our selection of games. The kitchen is bright , newly fitted and well equipped. It leads out to a small outside space which catches the afternoon sun. Upstairs we have two bedrooms , the main bedroom has a lovely period feel and is very bright having a large bay and another large sash window. It is furnished in keeping with the period of our property with a touch of glamour and romance ! The second bedroom has twin beds. We have used a seaside palette in this room and it also has a large sash window, making it a bright and welcoming space. The bathroom is of family size with lots of space and we have again tried to maintain the period , seaside theme . The landing and staircase area that links the two floors is also spacious and gives a great feeling of space to our property. Our property is comprehensively alarmed for smoke and carbon monoxide. Please note this is a NON SMOKING accommodation and we allow one small dog.

About Jenny Rogers

We are Jenny and Lee Rogers. We have always loved Whitby and finding ourselves spending more and more weeks up there over the years , we decided to buy our own place there (much to the delight of our children and grandchildren ). We spend about 6 weeks to 8 weeks per year in the property and provide you with the opportunity to share it the remaining times.

Why Jenny Rogers chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We bought this maisonette because we already owned the maisonette above it - Chimchimney, 15a Silver Street. Being the bottom two floors this maisonette provides an easier access than Chimchimney and provides a more generous level of accommodation having the benefit of a kitchen and bathroom extension to the rear. The property also has a small south facing outdoor space to the rear, ideal for parking bikes or dogs. We love its location and easy access it offers to Silver Street which is rapidly obtaining its own identity as a shopping street with craft shops, fish and chip shop, cheese shop, bistro, etc. P.S Jenny thinks that it gives you a hug !

What makes this apartment unique

It provides an extremely spacious accommodation for a 4-person property with direct access to Silver Street. The main bedroom is spectacular with period furniture a large bay window . The location is perfect to explore all aspects of the town. The car park 20 yards away can be a blessing when there are no spare spaces to be found on the roads.

Our wonderful week in Whitby

Karen Matthew Sophii and Cookie the wonder dog found the 'summer place in Whitby clean and accommodating on our arrival. My only small gripe was there was no ironing board even though it is listed on facilities, the owner Jenny informed us she had two other properties and the new ironing board had never been used so she removed it. Possibly most visitors only stay for few days or long weekend so no need for iron but we stayed 8 nights and really needed an ironing board. Also no DVD, Jenny told us she had recently bought larger TV and had not purchased a DVD to date but told us if we preferred to, we could buy a DVD from local shop and she would reimburse us at later date, we decided to take longer walks and play cards in evening instead but would of liked the choice as there are plenty of DVD supplied at house but no big deal, despite no ironing board and DVD we did have a lovey stay at the 'SUMMER PLACE' The house is well situated for all amenities, close to shops and must see sights, numerous places to eat and drink either to sit in or take out. We recommend 'silver street fisheries' few paces down road from house, the fish patties are sublime !! The shack, further down road is also good place to eat, bacon or sausage sandwiches are relish, both places are spotless. On Skinner street next to silver street you will find Bothams bakery yum....the Granby pub/hotel serve home made food, well worth a visit, reasonable prices all round. On Flowergate at bottom of Silver street is 'bits 'n' pizzas, the pizzas are ok but don't bother with fries, they are not fries but chips and spongey and flaccid, the 1/21b chicken burger is two chicken steaks you can buy from Iceland freezer store for £1.50 anywhere, no salad. Thanks to Jenny for letting us stay at you house in Whitby and good luck in future with the lettings trade 😁

2 couples stayed here in may for 3 days. We found the property very comfortable and loved the décor very tasteful and also well equipped, a good shower with plenty of hot water. Any issues you have are very quickly put right with a quick ring to Jenny. We all agreed that we could have very easily stayed longer as with the amount of space in the maisonette you didn't feel on top of one another. It's very convenient for the seafront and is very central. Cannot fault it and would definitely book again.

Fab stay, excellent location

We have just got back from a lovely stay in this masionette really spacious, nicely decorated and in an ideal location to the harbour, shops and also silver street fisheries and rusty shears for amazing cakes!

Great location, lovely little house, perfect for a family break!

The house was the perfect size for our family of four. The location was perfect for us popping in and out of the centre of Whitby. We packed loads into our four days here and the house was the perfect base. Good size, lots of space, comfy beds, lovely and warm!! A separate dining room made a home from home experience for us at breakfast times etc

The house was a maisonettes and we knew this, but the noise at night was a little annoying by the third night. The people above us sounded like they were in the house with us, banging and shouting and stomping around. Woke us up at least twice a night which isn't what you want on a relaxing break, so I would bare this is mind if we ever came again. This was nothing the owners could do anything about and we did expect to hear people walking by which was fine.

Fantastic property everything you could wish for.

Having already stayed at the upstairs property we knew we would have no problems with downstairs and it lived up to our expectations. Warm, clean,comfortable and furnished beautifully. The location is ideal with no real need to use a car as everything is in walking distance . Even though it is situated close to everything it still remained quiet and peaceful. A bonus to this stay was actually meeting the owners who were delightful and obviously loved Whitby as much as us. Can't wait to come and visit again thanks for a wonderful stay at your property, Jo, Josie and Amy x

Fabulous stay in Whitby

What a find! From the moment we arrived at this beautiful 'home from home' we felt relaxed and happy. My daughter and I have shared many trips away and this was up there with the best of them. The house was immaculate. Everything we needed was included and it occupies a great position in the centre of Whitby but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. Little thoughtful extras like the wine, chocolates and milk were so appreciated and we were warm, comfortable and slept well each night. Parking was easy across the street and not too expensive either, and a great fish and chip shop and beautiful coffee shop within a few steps of the front door was a bonus.

We will be returning to Whitby and we will be hopefully coming back to stay here. It feels like our little personal bolt hole.... but anyone thinking of going too will not be disappointed. Thanks Jenny and Lee.

Best restaurants are on Tripadvisor but we love Hadleys for fish and chips, Beckets for cake and coffee treats, Dittos for dining treat, Cosa Nostra for Italian meal and Humble Pie for best value good grub.
