We love France: its rich culture, friendly people and wonderful food and wine. After holidaying in many parts of this fabulous country we eventually discovered France’s hidden treasure at the heart of the country – the Limousin region, and our little gem of the old heritage town of Eymoutier. The area is so relaxing! At last we found what we were seeking and settled here without hesitation in 2004.
We‘ve had no regrets. We developed our holiday apartments at La Jolie Masion and enjoyed hosting so many wonderful guests ever since, none of whom have been disappointed.
It’s no surprise. We have been sharing our little treasure with them, and they have enjoyed it. Many have come back again for more, some several times and some hoping to settle here themselves.
We had a great time at John and Kate's lovely house. The children loved the pool and garden. Being within easy walking distance of the delightful town of Eymoutiers made getting croissants and baguettes very easy every day. The lakes were only a 10 minutes drive or so away and a great day out. Wish we could have stayed another week and really looking forward to going back again soon.

We found Eymoutier to be an excellent place to base our holiday this year, lots to do nearby and everybody very friendly. John & Kate, the owners, have a superb old property that has been lovingly refurbished. All mod cons are there if you want them, however the apartments are very still spacious, immaculately clean and homely. Our daughter immediately fell in love with the heated indoor swimming pool and we were frequently dragged down for a swim & splash about. The gardens were very pretty with 3 seperate private areas.
John & Kate could not have been more helpful. We stayed in both apartments during our stay and thoroughly recommend La Jolie Maison for a Family Holiday, you will not regret it. Many thanks for our most successful holiday for years.
We had a very beautiful week at the house of Kate and John in Eymoutiers.
It is a big and old house in the centre of Eymoutiers but in a calm and quiet place. The apartment is nice and modern equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The nice swimming pool was the favourite place for the children, and the beautiful garden made the total house a relaxing place.
Kate and John are very friendly hosts and they made us feel very welcome from the moment of our arrival throughout the whole time. The provided lots of information about the town and the area and gave us many ideas of what we could do. Especially our children loved them.
In and around Eymoutiers there are many things to see and to do. We enjoyed the day at the lake Vassiviere the most. There are many attractions for children, too. One day we even drove to the cave of lasceaux which is about 2 hours away from Eymoutiers.
We would highly recommend the property as nice and relaxing place and as a fantastic base from which to explore this picturesque area of France.
Eymoutiers is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Limousin, central France. It has a good selection of attractive shops, restaurants, an excellent supermarket and a weekly market . The area is free of congestion. Eymoutiers, on the banks of the Vienne River, is a vibrant and friendly heritage town with beautiful architecture including the Romanesque Church of St Etienne, the Mairie and Biblioteque. It is only 15 minutes drive to Lake Vassiviere. It is surrounded by interesting historic small towns and villages with local festivals and good restaurants. It is close to the beautiful chic city of Limoges that is accessible by train or road . Car is recommended but not essential.
Lake Vassiviere, France's ' inland sea', looks and feels like the coast except the water is fresh, with six man- made beaches of exceptional quality. The beaches with all amenities are supervised, family friendly and uncrowded, . All water sports are available on the lake.
Other Activities: children's tree climbing activity theme park
Golf: Golf de la Porcelaine: 18 hole – Par 72 – 6035 metres – slope 135 golf course is only 30 minutes quiet drive from Eymoutiers.
