About the property

House, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, (Sleeps 2)

These attractive holiday cottages (refs W43592 and W43593) are situated on the owners’ dairy farm, surrounded by fields and open views. They have been renovated and converted from old farm buildings, and each stands detached with its own private patio and seating area. They are ideally situated for exploring the many attractions in this beautiful part of the West Country, rich in history and heritage. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking, cycles can be hired nearby at Bradford-on-Avon, where you can go for lovely rides along the canal towpath, or perhaps you would prefer to hire a narrow boat. Within easy reach are the stone circles of Avebury and Stonehenge; Avebury is the focus of a cluster of ancient monuments including West Kennet Long Barrow, one of Britain’s largest Stone Age burial sites, and Silbury Hill. Stonehenge, monolithic and mysterious, is part of the same World Heritage site as Avebury and is the most sophisticated stone circle in the world. The beautiful Georgian city of Bath, 8 miles, provides a fantastic day out. Visit the Roman Baths, The Pump Rooms, the beautiful Abbey, relax and be pampered at the Thermae Spa or just go shopping! There are open topped bus tours to take you around the city and also boat trips along the River Avon. The attractive town of Bradford-on-Avon, 3 miles, dates back to the 1600s, and its Tithe Barn and Saxon Church are well worth a visit. The streets provide a wonderful selection of shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants. Cheddar Gorge has limestone cliffs towering 450 feet above a gorge which is 3 miles long, and its caves are underground cathedrals of stalagmites and stalactites. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park is a an ideal day out for all the family. Wiltshire’s most famous gardens are found at Stourhead (NT), where a central lake and classical temples were laid out between 1741 and 1780. Lacock and Castle Combe are often used as historic filming locations, and the cathedrals at Wells and Salisbury are within easy reach. Shop and pub 1 mile, restaurant 200 yards.
