Guestbook comments from the owner

"Hi Mary, We are now (home) in Spain. This email is only to say to you that our time in Knocklong was marvellous. You have a lovely home. Thanks and I hope that the "hierbabuena" (Spainish'name) will grow up in your garden. It's an aromatic plant typical of the south of Spain that we had left in your kitchen..."

Beautifully maintained cottage

  • 5 of 5

Excellent traditional cottage located on the border of County Limerick and County Tipperary. Perfect accommodations for a family trip. Very easy to locate and the home comes equipped with everything you will need for your stay.

Maggie the care taker was very accessible and everything was in good working order when we arrived. The owner was very responsive to questions and stayed in contact. If you're looking for a well appointed place to stay in a quiet community I recommend this home.

Charming, bright, clean and well-equipped.

  • 5 of 5

Our two-week stay was so memorable. First, the "manager" welcomed us, even built our first fire. She offered her "help in any way", with maps, directions, etc., and her husband even changed a tire for us.

We traveled North, South, East and West - to Galway, the Cliffs, to Dingle, to Waterford, the Mills, stopping for dinner, or a "Bar Night" for Irish music - and always the Cottage and Maggie welcomed us home. The warmth of the Irish people and the beauty of the Land will stay with us in memory for a long while.

I have already recommended this "Irish Cottage" to many friends - and we hope to return.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this wonderful review. We are always so happy to hear that our guests had such a great time in Ireland and enjoyed their trips so much, especially their stay at the cottage. Maggie is the best and really goes out of her way to make sure that everyone is as comfortable as possible and feels at home in the cottage. There's no one quite like her!!! We look forward to having you as our guests again someday at Curaheen cottage and thank you for the recommendations. All the best, Mary

A Lifetime of Memories

  • 5 of 5

My family, three generations of us, had an absolutely magical 2 weeks in Ireland in July. The Curaheen cottage, #7, was perfect in every way. We took day trips all over the country and experienced as much as we could in that time. My "must see" was Ballyhaunis in County Mayo where my grandparents were born, and the bonus was Knock Shrine. We discovered a perfumery in the Burren, with a little cottage/ tea shop like a page out of "The Hobbit". We went from Dingle to Waterford, even a day at the beach in Dunmore East, Galway to Dublin, music sessions in Limerick, Tipperary, Tralee and Dublin as well as the local pub in Knocklong with music on Sunday nights. We loved the castles and the younger ones enjoyed climbing everywhere. My grandson had just graduated from high school so this was his first taste of the world. The local park in Knocklong was a "must" for the 5yr old, who was delighted with the sheep, especially when they surrounded the car in Dingle. My other grandmother was from Kerry so we explored there as well. The cottage was such a welcome sight every night and we rested well. It was a grand holiday indeed. These memories will last a lifetime. I am so grateful to have found this "home base".

Owner's Response: We are delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed your trip to Ireland and your stay at Curaheen cottage. It sounds like you really covered alot of territory in your two-week stay including a trip back to the "ancestral home." Thanks for adding some of the places you visited as they will be great tips for others including myself!! I hope this won't be your last visit to Ireland, and we would welcome having you all as our guests again. Best, Mary

Beautiful Curaheen!

  • 5 of 5

We spent four days at this lovely cottage and couldn't have been more pleased. It's very comfortable and well appointed. Very warm and cozy feeling but with plenty of room for larger groups/families. We enjoyed exploring the nearby villages and when we ventured out further, it was a great place to return to !! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This was a very charming cottage, and we enjoyed our stay immensely!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived, it was chilly in the house. We called the caretaker, and even though it turned out that his wife was quite ill he came immediately to be sure things were right in the cottage. He got the heat adjusted and made several recommendations that were helpful. The cottage was well equipped. Our damage deposit was promptly refunded.
