Guestbook comments from the owner

"Hi Mary, We are now (home) in Spain. This email is only to say to you that our time in Knocklong was marvellous. You have a lovely home. Thanks and I hope that the "hierbabuena" (Spainish'name) will grow up in your garden. It's an aromatic plant typical of the south of Spain that we had left in your kitchen..."

Ireland In May

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful cottage. Perfectly maintained with everything a family needs. Ideally located we made day trips to most parts of Ireland, and it was relaxing to come back to this wonderfully maintained home. No stress from meeting a time to eat or get going, nice pub in town and easy access to all roads. Will stay here again if we can.

Owner's Response: We work hard to keep our cottage as well maintained as possible. It is a comfortable home to return to after a day trip and sit around the big open fire.

This was a very charming cottage, and we enjoyed our stay immensely!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived, it was chilly in the house. We called the caretaker, and even though it turned out that his wife was quite ill he came immediately to be sure things were right in the cottage. He got the heat adjusted and made several recommendations that were helpful. The cottage was well equipped. Our damage deposit was promptly refunded.

Authentic feeling cottage in quiet village setting perfect home base

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time at the Curaheen cottage in Knocklong. We were able to take day trips to see many castles and abbeys on day trips. We recommend the Glen of Aherlow, Rock of Cashel, Killarney and the adjacent National Park with the Gap of Dunloe tour. Also the local ruins on the hill and the pubs. The caretakers, Bernie and Pat were so helpful, and Mary made the booking process very easy. There were very friendly neighbors, too. Our only issue with the cottage was that you can tell they deal with dampness in the climate and there was a mustiness at times. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!

Charming Country Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we got a chance to meet the caretakers, Bernie and Pat, they were very kind and welcoming! This cottage is just as nice in person as it is in the pictures. It's located in a cute community with very friendly neighbors. We had 5 people in our group and there was more than enough room for all of us. We enjoyed sitting around the fire in the cozy living room in the evenings and planning our next day's adventure! The heat pads in the beds were a nice touch; although we didn't need to use them it was nice to crawl into a warm, comfortable bed. We did a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher as well as to Cork and Blarney Castle. We also enjoyed an evening meal at Golden Pheonix in Hospital which is just down the road. We had a fabulous stay at this beautiful cottage and would recommend it to anyone!

So relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Irish cottage. I only wish we had a few more nights there. We spent 5 nights staying in different hotels and travelling around Ireland. We had a great time but it was tiring. We spent our last 3 nights at the cottage and really enjoyed having a warm, cozy home to come back to at the end of the day. We relaxed by the fire with a glass of wine or cup of tea and made our plans for the next day. The layout of the house was great and allowed privacy in the bedrooms. The beds were very comfortable and warm. We didn't cook at all except for breakfast. The living room was spacious and homey. Bunratty Castle and Dirty Nelly's are great stops if you are passing through Limerick (just outside Shannon). Adare is a very pretty little town worth seeing. We also arranged clay pigeon shooting through Adare Manor. That was a great activity for a rainy day and the drive really took us off the beaten path. The Ballyhoura mountains have terrific walking/hiking paths and mountain biking. Rock of Cashel and King John's Castle are also nice day trips. There are plenty of things to do nearby. We hope to be able to visit again soon, and will stay a little longer. Thank you to Pat and Bernie, the caretakers who had a fire ready to light when we arrived. It was nice to be able to call them when we had a question about the heat. Thank you!

Like a real home to us

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a month with up to 6 family members at one time. The home was perfect with everything we needed. They had added another full bath to it. It was always great to come home to after visiting other counties and villages. 30 minutes to Linerick, 2 hours to Dublin, one hour to Cork, Wexford, and Waterford. Killarney was 1 1/2 hours. This cottage is right in the heartland of Ireland. It's a great place to real the real cultural experience. We went to church, family festivals, town banquets in Hospital, and dog shows. Enjoyed by all ages from 4 yrs to 74 yrs old in our group
