About the property

4 BR/2 BA Sleeps 8-10 people( two Kings, two queens, one double, one twin)

Our 2 story A frame plus addition home was built in 1967 and renovated in 2006 but it stills has some of its 1960’s grooviness(Is that a word). The property is perched on a hilltop with 180 degree views of the meadows &, meandering brook below and the nearby hills that escalate into the sweeping Catskill mountains.160 acres of land previously part of the compound but now donated as forever wild, you won’t want to leave the grounds and your well behaved pet certainly won’t. Fully-equipped open kitchen with dining area(seats 8),pool table, 2Bose Ipod stereos, jacuzzi,50'Plasma, etc.etc

Onsite you will enjoy the expansive deck with its 6 person built in Jacuzzi hot tub and a nearly new oversized Weber gas grill. An outside dining table carved out of bluestone as well as swinging couches, rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs with foot rests complete the picture. We also have a toddler swing in a nearby tree as well as a relaxing hammock

About Todd Nation

I love to travel and spending time with my family. Thats my son in the cage. He wanted to be there:)

Todd Nation purchased this house in 2005

Why Todd Nation chose Fleischmanns

I fell in love with the area while visiting my friend who owns the adjoining 300 acre property. One time up here and I was hooked. It has been a weekend retreat from NYC for me and now my family and since we travel for most of the year it is now a retreat for everyone. Enjoy the water, air and nature for me when I cant.

What makes this house unique

Few places can you drink the water and have it compare to bottled water. Our water is bottled and shipped state wide , its that good!

Awesome , awesome, awesome. This home and the area were more than a welcome change from my time spent studying in NYC. The Fall time was breathtaking and the stars and sky where better than the Outback. We saw shooting stars and meteor showers while sitting in the jacuzzi with the mountains illuminated in the background. The home was so much nicer than in the pictures and the bedding was incredibly comfortable with down pillows and comforters in every room. The home has a very uplifting zen-like appeal that made our group be able to kick back and relax immediately. The owner was very helpful in giving us suggestions on where to eat and where to get fresh seafood. The Peekamoose was our favorite restaurant suggestion and the Main Black bear does have the freshest seafood -who knew the Catskills would have that. I had such a wonderful time in 08 that I have booked two more weeks this year one for Spring and one for the Summer too. I hope to keep my old memories and form new ones . I can't wait!

Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Renting to and from strangers is a two way street and we hope that our home gets the same treatment as our guests. You never know what a positive experience may bring. Many of the relationships we have formed from renting has blossomed into more than just a weekend stay at our place. The Sheila from down under went on to rent one of my apartments in NYC for an entire year and we knew from our previous experiences she would be a great renter. Thank you for your kind words

Just alright

  • 2 of 5

We've rented many houses in the past and this was the most disappointing one. The kitchen was extremely dirty (food in the zink, i have to wash every single plate and anything we wanted to use since everything was full of grease, no garbage bag in the garbage pale, etc) the hot tub did not work and it was also extremely dirty. Owner has this rule on smoking outside that they will charge you $10.00 per cigarette found meanwhile WE were the ones cleaning the cigarettes when we got there. Overall not a good experience... after we complained the owner gave us $100 credit (that he had agreed to prior to our arrival for nothing to do with the house being dirty)...which i thought it was a joke as this house is extremely overpriced. When i emailed the owner and explained that the $100 was something he had promised before he simply ignored my message. So my recommendation is stay somewhere else.

Myself and a few friends went up for a hunting weekend. The house offered ample space and was a very comfortable weekend getaway. We look forward to our next stay

Not as expected

  • 3 of 5

I rented this home for a 3-night stay for my husbands 40th birthday along with 3 other couples. For the price ($500/night) we honestly expected alot more comfort for our money. Although we enjoyed our stay overall (the fireplace with open seating area was wonderful as well as the outside deck with hot tub, indoor pool table (although missing a ball)),there are a few unexpected details would make us hesitate to rent again. The listing was not accurate because it states there are 4 bedrooms, but really there are 3 or 3.5 (since one is actually an open loft area with bed). This means it would be fine for a family, but not for separate couples. Also, two of the bedrooms that are in the wing of the home share a heater that is located in the hallway, which means you need to sleep with doors open in order to get heat in your room (not good for those that have a baby that wakes and cries in the night, waking up others). Also, our room in the wing had a very uncomfortably firm futon-style mattress that was oddly very high off the ground, so you need to hoist yourself up to get into the bed. Unfortunately our room also didn't smell right and I discovered an almost "poopy" smell coming from one of the closets was making the room have this odor. So, overall I give this place and average 3 stars, since certain parts of the home were wonderful, but the unpleasant parts definitely bring my rating way down. With a little love and care to these details I believe the place can definitely be amazing and I hope the owner will take advantage of these observations.

On a positive note, the owner provided fresh dry wood for us to use in the fireplace and was always very helpful when contacted.
