Great 180 degree Views of Southern Puget Sound from Southern Vashon Island. Tacoma city and Commencement Bay night light views and during the day includes views of Mount Rainer and Point Defiance.
I am Lance Gildea. My wife Deanna and I, so much enjoy sharing this piece of paradise with our guests. Everyone just wows at the view and just loves what we have done with this little water side cabin that we like to call a cottage. We are getting closer to having an empty nest. Our Daughter is in Denver studying to become a pastry chef and our Son is in the middle of his High School years.
Lance Gildea purchased this cottage in 2004
Just love the views and southern exposure to the sun. Mostly because this southern location had the most amount of sun that could be found on the island. We are always in the sun here on Vashon Island. You can only get here by boat. Just the first of so many special things about Vashon. Check it out for yourself. Do a search on Vashon Island.
When I was there in August the weather was wonderful! This time, in October, I had just the right amount of stormy, rainy gray days. I love the island in any and all seasons and the Cottage made it just perfect.
Beautiful and wonderful, we celebrated the first night of our honeymoon here, loved it! Owner is awesome to work with.
Beautiful. On the water. Close to ferry. Great communication with owner. Lots of games!
THE COTTAGE EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTIONS IN EVERY RESPECT AND THE OWNER WAS ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS RIGHT DURING OUR STAY. WE LIKED IT SO WELL WE ARE GOING TO BOOK IT TWO WEEKS IN 2017!!! DOUG AND JAN LYKE
We had a wonderful stay at the beach house. Lots of windows for a 180 degree view of the water and Mt. Rainier. We enjoyed watching the Ferry come and go (as we were concerned that it would be loud, but this is not the case at all!). Very private spot and overall very clean inside. I gave it a 4 star as it does need some TLC on the exterior (facia boards rotting/ bench seat at the fire pit is getting worn down)..I would suggest to bring your own camping chairs for the fire pit. Also, the mattress should be upgraded....it is a full-foam type mattress, and is starting to show its age (I started to shift toward the slopping middle of the mattress during the night, and left my back hurting the next day). If we had stayed more than 1 night, I would have needed a blow-up mattress instead. We did not try the pull-out bed from the couch, but the couch could use a good cleaning (lots of noticeable stains on the microfiber material, as well as the mircrofiber bar stools ). Also, there is only a half fridge and half freezer, which didn't affect our stay, but if you were planning on staying for a longer period of time and needed a lot of fridge space, it's not there. We would definitely return for another visit, but would either need to have a new mattress or we would bring our blow-up mattress for a backup.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The place certainly retains it's heat, so the fans were a must. Was a little difficult to find the location originally. There is only a tiny sign on the left side of the street that we missed even during the day. Drive slow so you don't miss it!
Remodel completed in March 2008.
