Westgate Cottage nestles at the end of a row of cottages in the rural mid-Devon village of Lapford. An excellent location, between Dartmoor and Exmoor, for exploring Devon’s beautiful countryside, beaches and National Trust properties. Westgate Cottage is also a peaceful, tranquil base in which to comfortably relax. This enchanting cottage has an abundance of character features including an inglenook fireplace and original beams. The pretty hedge-lined garden with original cobble-stoned pathway, picnic bench and parasol makes an ideal spot to sit and relax on a warm summers day. There’s a pub just 300 yards away in the centre of Lapford village which serves excellent food. Nearby Chulmleigh offers bespoke shops and a bistro along the old high street, and the pub at Kings Nympton serves popular local produce. Locally, the town of Crediton offers a wide range of shops and amenities. Top recommendations to visit include Saunton Sands’ golden stretches of beach, which are a pleasant drive away and have café, shop and toilet facilities right next to the beach. Castle Drogo on the edge of Dartmoor is a great place to explore and suitable for a wet weather day, as is the Waie to Play children’s large soft play centre in Zeal Monochorum, which also has an outdoor children’s play area, fishing lake and attached pub and café for a convenient lunch. Lapford has a children’s playground and adjacent outdoor space to run around in. Annual village events include the summer Revel festival and popular Lapstock music festival - these fun, vibrant occasions take place in the heart of the village. There are village walks from the door of Westgate Cottage, taking in far-reaching views towards Dartmoor. Small supermarket 1 mile, pub 300 yards.
