Why Marietta Ringger chose North Georgia Mountains

WE HAVE ALWAYS SAID THAT 'YOU HAVE TO SEE THE WORLD BEFORE YOU LEAVE IT.' DAVE AND I HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE HAD WONDERFUL TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES. BUT THERE IS STILL NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD LIKE THIS GREAT USA.

HOWEVER, WE CAME HERE TO VISIT THE NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS AND FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS PEACEFUL GODS COUNTRY AND VERY SHORTLY AFTER, DECIDED THAT THIS IS WHERE WE WOULD RETIRE. SO INSPIRED , AND REALIZING HOW MANY PEOPLE CAME HERE FOR VACATIONS, WE WANTED TO SHARE, WITH OTHERS, THESE BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAINS, AND THAT WAS WHAT MOTIVATED US IN PURCHASING OUR LOVELY HOME.

What makes this studio unique

DAVID WAS A TRUE BOSTONIAN AND I FROM THE BEAUTIFUL CITY OF CHICAGO AND MET IN FLORIDA 16 YEARS AGO.

FRIENDS COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT WE WOULD MAKE THIS LIFESTYLE TRANSITION, THAT IS UNTIL THEY COME TO VISIT.

I UNDERSTAND THAT 40% OF OUR POPULATION IN THIS VICINITY ARE FLORIDIANS, MOST OF US ARE HERE FOR THE SAME REASONS, 'CHASING OUR DREAMS'.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Marietta,

We truly enjoyed our stay

The suite was super cute and very relaxing. The hot tub was a special treat that was very much enjoyed. This place is a nice central location for Sight Seeing and seeing all the beauty nature has to offer.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Sweet suite!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Ms. Marietta's rental very much! It was so much nicer than a hotel--more space, quiet location, beautiful area, cozy, and the hot tub in the unit was a plus! The unit was well equipped and had many extra items available if needed . The checking in/out process was easy also. If we return to Blue Ridge this is the place we will come back to!

Perfect stay for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a spontaneous weekend away from the city and had the BEST time! The studio-style setup was perfect, as we didn't plan to spend much time in the room with all of the fun activities Blue Ridge has to offer. However, it's really very spacious and has everything you could need. Sleeping four people seems like it'd be a tight squeeze, but it was perfect for the two of us. The huge Jacuzzi tub is the cherry on top of this rental. We spent most of our time exploring Blue Ridge, which was a short 15-20 minute drive away from the property, and had a blast. Definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a comfortable, clean and welcoming place to sleep while you're exploring the area!

One of the worst experiences of my life.

  • 1 of 5

Let me start off by saying that we drove 4 hours to get to the cabin, and a car was parked in the driveway when we got there. The lockbox code would not work. When we finally got the lockbox open, there was no key in the lockbox. It is now 2 am and we can not get in to the property in the middle of the mountains and we have no where to go. So, we go downstairs and see that the door is unlocked and walk in. There are pairs of shoes and clothes everywhere filthy and trash everywhere.. We haul out of there and find a cheap motel 2 hours later. Yes, at 4 am. The lady never answered the phone. As a property manager, it is your job to answer the phone in case of an emergency at your property. This was an emergency. She called back the next day and informed us that the maids live in the house. Now we know, at least. But she refuses to give us back our money. Even though she never told us we would be sharing our weekend cabin with a bunch of maids. And there was no key in the lockbox to even get into the house in the first place. Also, was very disrespectful and told us that we needed to learn how to read. I did go back and read the details and there is absolutely no mention of anyone sharing the cabin with us. I don't even know what to tell you, except RUN.

Owner's Response: Still, after a few days of digesting this review, I am still searching for the right words to defend myself. In spite of my reluctant, I accepted this last minute reservation. When these people phoned to tell me that they were not able to book through VRBO, and that VRBO recommended to phone owner, I agreed to book their reservation directly with VRBO, urging them to read the Renters Agreement and Hospitality Documents for the lock box code entrance, wi fi code, location of the suite and where and how to park their car. Because they could not arrive before 2 AM, I explained that all exterior lights would not be on and a flash light may be necessary. Now you may not believe what occurred. They went to the wrong area which is the front porch of my lovely home, found an old lock box left there by a former Realtor, tried using the Log Suite code, unable to open it, they took a rock and crushed the lock box and tore off part of the porch railing. I have photos taken by my house keeper which were sent to me including a photo of the rock. Mrs Renter did call to apologize for the damage and offered to pay for the costs of the repair. Fortunately, they did not break into my home because it is heavily alarmed and would have immediately notified the Police Then they went around the back to an apartment where my house tenant resides, and actually walked in and searched the apartment while she worked at the hospital as ER nurse. During all this time they never went to the Log Sweet section of my home and of course did not read the documents... During a morning phone conversation, while trying to explain, I had to listen to unacceptable rhetoric, before my house keeper went to my property to find a large rock and a damaged porch. This can all be considered breaking and entering pulse damages which they will receive a damage. They think that this was the worst thing that ever happen in their lives, well what would they have thought if the police might have taken them to jail for attempting Breaking and Interring. This attempt to receive a refund has just causes a Bigger Fish to Fry. I do not intend to press charges unless they do not pay for the damages.

Great getaway!

  • 3 of 5

I had mixed feelings about the rental. But overall the trip and stay was great!

Pros: The location was amazing and tucked away from the city. The deck by the river was awesome and great to sit at and relax while listening to the water. The fire pit was fun and we roasted s'mores. The Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was amazing. The little kitchenette was good to have and the bed was comfy. We were able to relax and enjoy our time together so it was a great getaway!

Cons: I missed the key info that the rental was the extension of a log home. Which was literally one half of the almost basement. Really I just wish I was a little more aware of the setup. It wasn't bad just a surprise when we got there. The other part of the basement was rented out also which means the outside hot tub was not private or just for you. It was in the window of the other renters for the weekend so that felt like it was a little bit of false advertisement.

Extra info: If you plan to grill out bring charcoal and lighter fluid! **We left our extra charcoal behind actually. There wasn't much dry wood for the fire pit so consider buying or bringing your own if you want a fire.

Beautiful & peaceful!

  • 4 of 5

Our studio-type cabin was equipped precisely as described on VRBO;there were no surprises and nothing missing. The scenery was beautiful and it was so peaceful down by the creek. It is perfect for a couple or anyone who does not want to be disturbed. We enjoyed the Blue Ridge area immensely.

Very intimate and secluded!

  • 5 of 5

I planned this trip as a surprise anniversary trip for my husband. Ms. Marietta was very accommodating to my need to keep this as discreet as possible. I booked in advance and counted down the days until we left. I eventually had to tell my husband a little about what was going on, but he was definitely surprised we arrived at our destination. The cabin was very intimate and cozy. I loved that it was more of a studio than a house feel. We did meet the tenant once or twice, but he was very nice. As a warning, we did not have any reception on our phones and the wifi was bad, but we were kinda glad because we spent more time with each other than on our electronics. We ate at several restaurants recommended by Marietta. Black Sheep was exquisite and the owner was very welcoming. LL Bean offered us a tasty, home cooked breakfast with a very historical view. We also at at Fighttown Tavern and the Whistlestop Grill. You really can't go wrong at all the places in Blue Ridge. Also, take a ride to Brasstown Bald. It is absolutely beautiful! We will definitely stay here again! Thank you so much!
