John grew up in nearby Rochester, just 35 miles to the southwest of Lake City, and vacationed here as a young boy with his family back in the 50s. His fond memories are etched forever with all the fun and beautiful times he experienced in Lake City and on Lake Pepin. He's grateful to have the opportunity to experience it all over again as he and his wife, Sharon, have purchased Lake City properties and remodeled and decorated them in their vision of what constitutes the perfect vacation rental.
Sharon grew up in Cleveland, OH, and she. too, has fond memories of being near the water (Lake Erie) as a child and then spent her middle years and early adult life in Florida (Orlando) enjoying Florida's two coasts. After she moved to Minnesota in the mid 70s and was introduced to Lake City/Lake Pepin, she knew immediately that this area was a unique and very special place.
Sharon Hutchinson purchased this townhome in 2008
Minnesota is known for all its beautiful lakes, but a lot of people don't know much about Lake Pepin and how beautiful this area really is. Lake Pepin is the largest lake along the Mississippi River (there are over 100 lakes) and offers unparalleled recreational opportunities. Because of its size (22 miles long and nearly 3 miles wide) and steady winds, the Lake is considered to be one of the best sailing lakes in North America. Lake City, over the years, has developed the best and largest marina (625 slips) on the Mississippi River. Lake Pepin is home to more than 65 varieties of fish.
The area offers a broad and varied choice of eateries. There are innumerable things to do, places to visit and attractions to take-in within a 30 minute radius. Its proximity to the Twin Cities and Rochester is unique as they provide a steady stream of visitors. The area also enjoys many visitors from our neighboring states, as well as, from all over the U.S.
Many people refer to the area as MINNESOTA'S SOUTH SHORE.
The unique features of this home are its size and flexibility. It is very comfortable and cozy for just two (2) or can comfortably accommodate nine (9). The panoramic view of Lake Pepin and the majestic sight of Maiden Rock across the Lake in Wisconsin is quite remarkable. The deck is large and overlooks the Lake and the Park and all their activities; the barges, the paddleboat, the sailboats, the cruisers, the runabouts, the fishing boats, the RiverLake walkers, the classic cars, the motorcycles and all the nice people of Lake City.
The nice thing about Lake City is that everything is quite close and even the locals love to walk.
This place is awesome! It has everything you need and more. It is so clean and organized. Lots of parking for boats and cars made it really nice. When we got there the house was so nice and cool, which is a nice start on a hot day! Nice kitchen area and comfortable beds, very cute décor. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks Sharon, we had a good time!
This place was the best! It was decorated really cute, looks like an Oceanside décor. We were in town for a funeral and it fit everyone perfectly. Easy access to the river walk and a nice view. It just happened that it was very chilly that weekend, so we didn't use the upper deck, but that would be a plus for morning coffee , or brunch ; weather permitting Also went to the owners shop downtown for some trinkets. The old button factory that was cute as a button. Pun intended. I will totally book this property again.
Wish we could have stayed longer! We were in town for a wedding and enjoyed our stay. The town home was beautifully decorated and very CLEAN!!!!! If my future travels bring me back to Lake City I will definitely stay here again (hopefully longer). Thank you, Sharon, for stopping by to make sure we had everything we needed - we did!!
We were really impressed with how nice the house was. It had everything you could ever need. More kitchen stuff than I have at home. It really felt like we were at home rather than a rental house. I would recommend this house to everyone. Loved that it came with a grill and charcoal so we didn't have to go shopping for that! Love the house -had a great mini vacation.
We all loved the rental and are already talking about going back next year! The furnishings were wonderful and it was so clean and had everything we needed! We would absolutely recommend this place to others!
A group of 7 craft loving ladies recently took over this home and enjoyed a weekend of crafting, laughing and enjoying the city. We were amazed at the detail Sharon and John have put into the home to make our stay carefree. Labeled light switches, additional tables, a sofa bed already made up and the cleanest most welcoming home we've ever been in for our annual weekend. We were able to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant on Friday and cooked all of the other weekend meals at the house. We had room for the 5 vehicles that accompanied our group without needing to park in the street. The view, sights and sounds promote a relaxing experience and the décor with all of it's coastal charm is all but out of a Better Homes & Gardens catalog. We will be back and will be recommending this location to anyone looking for a place to stay in Lake City. Simply perfect! We didn't want to leave!
Only a few short blocks from the Municipal Marina, Parks & Beach, as well as, downtown Lake City.
