A semi-private sandy beach on Seymour Pond is steps from this immaculate cottage. Recently updated kitchen, raised ceiling with sky lights in living room, den, dining room, and newly renovated sun room and bathroom. An outdoor picnic and sitting area has views of the pond. Seymour Pond is a 181-acre natural kettlehole pond a gradual slop -- so it is ideal for small children. For the fishermen: it has an average depth of 20’ and maximum of 38’. The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs along one side of the pond. The cottage, located at the town line between Harwich and Brewster, is part of a family enclave down a dirt road on the edge of the Punkhorn, an 880-acre nature preserve in Brewster. Miles of dirt paths through these woods are virtually at the doorstep of this cottage – ideal for runners, mountain bikers, or walkers. Brewster and the Pleasant Lake General Store are a short drive away. Salt water beaches on Cape Cod Bay & Nantucket Sound are a few miles away. Three bedrooms: 1 queen, 1 twin, 2 twins. TV with cable. Linens & towels provided for extra $35 per person. No pets or smoking.
We have been staying on the Cape for the past 10 years (both camping and renting) and I have to say that this is the best place so far. The pictures on the site do not do the house justice! It is an absolutely charming cottage, in a lovely setting in the woods, perfect for a relaxing and quiet vacation. The house itself was very clean and had everything you would ever need or want (enough books and games to last you days!). The beach is also very clean, quiet, and large, with a friendly family of swans that likes to come around and say hi on their evening swims. The bike trail is basically right around the corner and even though the road to the house is unpaved it is still manageable on a road bike. We will definitely be back again.
Four of us traveling from Orlando spend the Memorial Day weekend on Cape Cod. The cottage was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The pictures cannot capture how nice this cottage is in person. The location is tucked away a short drive on a dirt road from the main road. The views of the lake are breathtaking, especially at sunset. A short walk brings you to the Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT), which leads to a charming General Store. The mid cape location was convenient to access all that Cape Cod has to offer, and then return to the quiet serene setting of Seymour Pond Cottage. We will definitely return on our next visit to the Cape.
My family has stayed here for the past 3 years and love it and will be back again this summer! We love the beautiful setting in the woods with a private pond beach. I am a clean freak and this is the only rental that has lived up to my expectations. When we want a change of scenery, we go to Brewster or Dennis beaches...or for BIG waves, Nauset. They are all very close. Another bonus is that the house is just off the Bike Trail so you can ride your bikes to the paved trail. Love this place!!
This place is a really great little vacation spot. The house itself exceeded our expectations - everything was clean, there is plenty of room, and absolutely everything you could possibly need! It is even nicer then the pictures make it seem. The owner of the house is very friendly, kind and helpful. The pond and beach are beautiful and relaxing - our daughter loved spending the day swimming, playing in the sand, and exploring outside. It is only a short car ride to the ocean if you want to go to the beach. We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the pond!
The pond was the best experience of this location! It was quiet and remote and beautiful with a lovely hammock in the shade. Be aware that the dirt road leading up to the house is significant and bumpy.
The reason we didn't give the stay a higher rating is two fold. First, the beds were terribly uncomfortable. The queen squeeks every time you move and we never got a full night rest. Fortunately we brought our own comforter because the one provided had something crusty on it. The second reason is that the house is missing outdoor seating for dining. There is a grill but nowhere to eat outside unless you make several trips backs and forth to the pond with everything you need.
It's a great location to get away from it all because of how remote and private it is. The owners share the property/pond and are very accommodating.
My family has been going to Cape for over two decades for family vacations and this house is an exceptional house. It is a very comfortable, clean and beautifully updated home with remote control skylights and many windows. The setting is quiet and our children loved walking to the edge of the pond and playing at the lovely beach. We could watch them from the living room as the pond is just yards away. Unlike other ponds in the area this one has no motor boats, so it is very peaceful and perfect for kayaking. Staying here made me wish I could live year round in a house overlooking a pond. We all look forward to returning this summer!
Harwich boasts an old fashioned, small town atmosphere. It is centrally located on Cape Cod. Day trips in any direction will bring visitors to charming villages, spectacular natural settings, or the Cape Cod National Seashore.
