About Russ or Pam

WE are both retired and enjoy visiting the mountains of North Carolina to escape the heat and humidity of Florida in the summer. My husband likes fly fishing and we both love visiting the many beautiful waterfalls in the area.

Russ or Pam purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Russ or Pam chose Lake Chatuge

Our son recommended the area to us. During our first visit we fell in love and purchased the property that the cabin is on today. The cabin is centrally located between Atlanta,Chattanooga,Knoxville, and Ashville so has great accessibility to many visitors.

What makes this cabin unique

The awesome long range mountain view from our deck is the best available in all of Clay County as stated by the locals. We also offer a wonderful view of the Hiawassee River that runs along the property. While sitting on the deck you can enjoy the sun setting over the mountains, listen to the river rushing by below, and the birds singing in the trees. If you are looking for a place for relaxation then our cabin is right for you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I really enjoyed this rental. My family has rented cabins quite a few times for a more relaxed vacation, and so I have seen many of them. Most of the time, I look at the pictures and have to remind myself that the view probably isn't quite that good, accomodations aren't quite as nice as portrayed, etc. When we arrived at Hibernation Ridge, I was very happy to be in a place that was actually better than the pictures showed. My one and only complaint is that I wish the hot water had been on before we arrived. We got to the cabin later in the day after a long drive, and it would have been nice to have a hot shower as soon as w got there. All in all, though, it was a great trip, and I would definitely go back given the chance. I would definitely recommend this to a couple or small family as a great getaway spot.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took a trip to this beautiful cabin to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The cabin was a perfect getaway and just what we needed. It was well stocked for our arrival and the view was beyond spectacular! We could have sat on the deck for days on end. We were even able to drive about 0.25 miles to a little access point to swim in the river for a while. Pam and Russ were so helpful while we were booking our trip (even with some family emergencies) and we can't thank them enough. Highly recommend and have already sent the link to some friends.

Amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

Our favorite place was on the back porch. During the day enjoying the mountain views or at night gazing at the stars for hours and finding constellations with the kids. Everyone took turns attempting to make it to the water down the stairs but only the kids made it within 10 feet. Definitely a great leg workout and done in sections. We were staying for a wedding so hopefully next time we can have more time enjoying the house. Sunrise tea on the porch was hands down my favorite part though and seeing the mountains coming into view for miles and miles and enjoying the nature around us.

The Best Mountain View You've Ever Seen!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Hibernation Ridge. The view is amazing and the cabin clean and filled with little bear surprises. The kitchen had everything we needed and the property was well maintained. We lacked nothing except more days to spend there.

Cozy, well stocked and really enjoyed the fire place, had three inches of snow on the first night. Went outside and played then cozied up next to the fire. Could not have asked for a better week.

Very clean, comfortable and private

  • 5 of 5

We loved the privacy of the property and cabin was well stocked for all our needs, very clean and would stay again if we are visiting the area. Lots of things to do in the area and owner has many pamphlets with things to do in area but loved sitting on deck where the view is incredible. Would not recommend to motorcycles do to steep gravel driveway glad we brought my truck. I would rate this 5 out of 5 stars and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone except bikers.
