Explore the 8-acre grounds which surround this holiday property, where you can walk, cycle or bird watch.. Set in an AONB and nestling on the outskirts of Elham Valley on the North Downs, Hoad Farm dates back to the 13th century. The village of Acrise lies between the city of Canterbury and Folkestone and is listed in the Domesday Book. Its name is old English for “Oak Rise” and there are still many grand old oaks in the area. The farm now consists of 8 acres where the neighbour’s horses roam. Hoad Farm Holiday Cottages (refs 30059 and 30060) form a courtyard around a 500-year-old olive tree and provide a warm welcome and ‘home from home’ experience for guests. Both properties have a wet room with grab rails and a shower stool. There are many footpaths on the doorstep making it an excellent base for ramblers, cyclists and birdwatchers. Animal lovers will enjoy Port Lympne, Howletts and Wingham wild animal parks. The historic city of Canterbury, with its shops and ancient cathedral, is approximately 10 miles away and can also be explored by boat on the River Stour. Visit Folkestone, 5 miles, which offers award-winning restaurants, or Ashford, for its retail therapy at McArthur Glenn Designer Outlet, 13 miles; the Channel Tunnel is a mere stone’s throw away.
