A group of friends and I made the trip up to Chippeny Creek Lodge for a little vacation before heading to Marquette for a wedding. Everything about it was perfect. The lodge is very private so you feel like you're in the middle of no where, but it has all the amenities you could ever need. We used the canoe, fished the river (watch out for snags), played yard games, relaxed by the fire, and did some serious star watching. The only negative I can think of is the bugs, but if you're on a river in the middle of the woods that's expected. We had firewood delivered and everyone had a great time taking their turn splitting it. We traveled from the Chicago area, I would suggest stopping in Escanaba for food supplies before arriving at the lodge. I would definitely recommend this property to any big group looking to relax for a bit. My friends and I have already started talking about a return trip.

Unbelievably Beautiful

  • 4 of 5

This place was just what the doctor ordered. Our family needed a break from the distractions and stresses of every day life, just to enjoy each other and spend time together. I wanted my children to have room to play outdoors and explore nature. This place was perfect. We explored the river and its creatures (the river is shallow enough to play and wade across). We saw at least one bald eagle each day - talk about majestic! At night, after hiking, picnicking and playing we sat around the campfire roasting marshmallows, star gazing (amazing stars, we saw the milky way!) and listening to coyotes and even wolves serenade us. It was magic for us and our children. The cabin was very clean and tidy. The kitchen was well-equipped and I was easily able to cook for my family throughout our stay. While it's not a luxury cabin, it's very comfortable and we had no complaints. We didn't go there for the sheet threadcount or to be pampered. The managers and cleaning lady (who will meet you at the cabin) were wonderful and helpful, pointing out where to spot wildlife, how to use the propane lamps, etc... We went to find some peace and quiet and we found that by the bucketful.

Clean and pest free!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th time staying at Chippeny Creek! Its a wonderful clean place. We never see spiders all over the place or have issues with nusance insects. We never have questioned if the bedding was clean. You know the best way to tell a place is clean is if you let your kids wear their white socks around the house at night - they were pretty clean by bedtime! This place is secluded enough to target shoot yet a nice ice cream place is just 5 mins away. Escanaba is just a 15 min drive away with a Walmart to get any groceries you would need for your stay! There are several nice restaurants close by as well. You really do see eagles every morning so bring your binoculars! The long drive way makes for a great place to go shining at night to see some deer or other wildlife you may not see during the day. Our kids love that part - they have been able to see some deer hanging out and we did a "finding bigfoot" of our own this weekend:) The long drive is also nice to take a nature walk down and do a nature scavenger hunt with your kids! The yard is big enough to let your kids play and not have to worry about a road or a strange person coming along:) There really is nothing we would change about this place. This is our favorite place to go!!!!!!

This place was almost too beautiful for words. We had an extended weekend here with our grown children and grandchildren. Truly a magnificient place! Very private and peaceful. The huge covered porch allowed us to relax & soak up the scenery. The guys fished right in the yard along the river and caught & released SEVERAL nice fish. Plenty of room for everyone! 2 families of geese with their babies visited each day, as well as the bald eagle. If you enjoy nature and the peace it can offer, book this place won't be disappointed!

Love this Place!!! My husband had to pry my fingers from the porch when time to leave.

This lodge was so peaceful. I loved sitting by the Whitefish river and enjoying the wildlife. There were bald eagles nesting near the lodge and made frequent trips over our heads, the river otters played and barked at us, and we even saw a wolf! I caught a trophy walleye in Lake Michigan and while the weather was scorching everywhere else, we enjoyed 75-80 degrees! I would love to come back every year for rest and relaxation. By the way, Munising and the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore are only 45 miles away and worth the trip, especially the waterfalls and you must stay a day on the Miner's Beach, it's beautiful.
