Nestling in the picturesque village of Kirkburn, close to the Norman church, these two properties have been carefully converted to provide holiday accommodation of a good standard, full of character and with decked seating areas to enjoy warm summer evenings. Reputedly built by the Sykes family of Sledmere, Acorn Cottage (ref 26151) dates back to 1770, and Stable Cottage (ref 26150) stands detached and dates back to 1860, and they stand close to a Site of Special Scientific Interest. An ideal base for exploring the gently undulating hills and valleys of the Yorkshire Wolds. Central to major locations featured by artist, David Hockney in his exhibitions. The charming market towns of Driffield and Pocklington are close by and historic Beverley, 13 miles, boasts a glorious Gothic minster, lively racecourse and numerous interesting shops, inns and restaurants. Visit the country houses at Burton Agnes, Sledmere and Sewerby Hall, explore the heritage coastline and resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is well worth a visit where you could see puffins in their natural habitat. The cottages are an ideal base to visit the coast, the Wolds and, of course, the North York Moors. Catch the steam train from Pickering to Whitby stopping at Goathland, home to the ’Heartbeat’ TV programme. Visit the ancient walled city of York, 26 miles, with its majestic minster standing proud in the centre. Lots of shopping, museums, restaurants and theatres, as well as the excellent open top tourist buses. Golf nearby. Shop 300 yards, pub 3 miles and restaurant 1 mile.

Perfect Holiday Cottage
Acorn cottage is gorgeous! It suited us perfectly, it's even better than the pictures!!! It is so warm, cosy and welcoming! A lovely size, beautifully furnished and immaculately clean! Pet friendly too! A neat little outside area, with furniture. In a lovely setting very quiet and peaceful. Yet not far to the coast and other attractions. Stay, you won't be disappointed!
