We rented David's apartment for a week so we could visit our daughter who is a student in Aix. The apartment is located just off the Cours Mirabeau, exactly where you want to be. There is a Monoprix for groceries within about 100 yards from the front door. You can easily walk to anyplace in Aix from here. The apartment is very well furnished and comfortable. We appreciated the free wifi and ability to call the US for free.
If you are renting a car... Good luck! I made a huge mistake on arrival and missed David's instruction about which door to take out of the garage. I didn't realize that the garage served serveral buildings. I ended up in the wrong building, and unable to get back in an elevator. All of that is to say, print out the pictures David sends you and have them on you! The garage itself is tight. The smaller the car, the happier you'll be!
Aix is a wonderful town! We loved the daily markets, the Christmas markets, the santon fair, the art museum and the day trips we took all over the south of France. You won't go wrong choosing Aix or David's apartment!
We stayed in the apartment for two months this winter.
The apartment is in a new building with good camera security system. The entry lobby is large and clean and the lift modern and efficient. The apartment is situated on the second floor, third in North America. The entry is into a large living room, dinning room area, which is well furnished. The entertainment system is complete with DVD, CD player and English cable flat screen .TV. The kitchen is large by French standards and well equipped with microwave, stove fridge, dishwasher and a modern cook top. There is a small eating area in the kitchen.
The master bedroom has a comfortable bed and large closets for storage. The second bed has a futon.
The washrooms are all separate two toilet areas and a large bath and double sink near the Master bedroom. and a second shower near the second bedroom. There is also a combination washer, dryer.
The apartment is very comfortable layout.
The windows all have electric shutters and are of good quality to lessen street sounds.
There is also a large balcony, which gets afternoon sun and is well equipped for eating or relaxing.
The real feature is location. Like others have stated the apartment is near to everything, old town, cafés, , the tourist office, bus and train stations, groceries, pharmacy, a wine merchant. Aix is also well situated for day trips to Avignon, Arles, Marseille etc.
The owner has someone nearby to help if required and is very responsive to your questions. He is only a phone call away.
A great place to enjoy this beautiful city and this wonderful part of France.
We stayed in David's apartment in Aix for two weeks in order to visit with our daughter who is studying at IAU. It was perfect for us. It was close to her school, close to the bus station and right in the middle of the action. The apartment itself was clean, had a fully stocked kitchen and a beautiful balcony. Even the bed was super comfortable. From Aix we went to Nimes, Le Baux, Lacoste, Cassis, Menerbes, and many more gorgeous towns. Marseille was a little gritty. As far as restaurants/food stands, our favorites were: Crepes-A-Go-Go, Pizza Capri, and Pasta Cosy. I absolutely loved Aix and hope to make it back someday. Thanks David!
This perfectly located apartment in the heart of Aix-en-Provence is the best value on the planet! The owners will provide you with all of the information on the apartment and parking, in advance, and I recommend you review it all, especially the thoughtfully provided pictures. Print all of the information and take it with you. Rent the parking space if you have a car and the smaller the car, the easier your travels will be. However, the train station is an easy, easy walk from the apartment, even with luggage. I love Provence and everything about it! This apartment makes it so easy have the Provence experience. I hope to return again and again!
We spent two weeks in this lovely apartment which is within walking distance to everything. The historic area and the tourist office were only minutes away by walking and the bus station was only 20 minutes walking distance. The apartment was very clean and well maintained with wi-fi and international television. We found the owner very easy to work with and helped us with questions about the area in general. We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment's balcony which is a lovely space to have a glass of wine and people watch! We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend this apartment to anyone staying in the Aix en Provence area.
On my 'bucket list' was to live in the South of France--if only for a couple of weeks. We live in the metropolitan New York City area, so we were looking to spend our time in a location that would be both cosmopolitan and convenient to touring the lovely villages of Provence with their lavender fields and jumble of honey-color homes and shops spewing from narrow and raked streets. The lovey market city of Aix-en-Provence provided just that right blend for our two week stay.
The apartment is wonderfully located and well-appointed--it is airy, spacious and modern. If you are a cook, the kitchen is well-stocked and provides you with everything needed to take wonderful advantage of the local fresh produce that arrives on market day. If you prefer to eat out, there is a delightful brassiere across the street and you are just blocks away from the center of the old city that will provide you with more choices than you will have days.
The balcony was probably are most used room. After the daily trip to the local Boulanger, there we would seat enjoying our petit-dejeuner and watching the city of Aix wake-up. In the evenings, after our daily outing and as the sun started its set, we returned to our chairs but now with a chilled glass of the local rose and some of the best cheese we have ever tasted.
My one recommendation, if you are renting a car, is to procure a small size auto. Since we required automatic transmission, we ended up with a larger-than-needed car that was a bit of a challenge to park in the building's garage. We were able negotiate the space but a smaller vehicle would have been a better fit.
We have just returned home, so our memories are--like the bread in each morning--fresh and warm. This is a lovely spot of the world and this apartment just added to the charm of the whole experience.
I envy the next couple who can call it home.
