Spend a day exploring the delightful gardens at Castle Bolton, 2 miles, where Mary Queen of Scots once stayed or Constable Burton Hall with extensive woodland and formal gardens. The traditional market town of Leyburn is just 5 miles, and is home to Tennants, the largest sale room outside London, a chocolate factory, and The Forbidden Corner visitor attraction, as well as individual country shops, tea rooms and pubs. Nearby is Middleham with a connection to Richard III, and a must for equestrian lovers with its racehorse stables, you can watch the morning gallops on High Moor. Further afield lies the Georgian town of Richmond, with its Norman castle and cobbled market place, at Hawes you can visit the traditional ropemakers, and watch Wallace and Gromit’s Wensleydale cheese being made!
