3 ensuite bedrooms + 2 childrens' rooms with private pool and big games room
- english, french
We are a British couple who love France. We've owned a holiday home in the Languedoc for 8 years but decided recently that we'd like to get to know another area, so we've moved north to the lovely Charente region. This means our house is more easily accessible from the UK - we enjoy driving down (owadays often from Saint Malo or the Tunnel) but are also able to fly to La Rochelle or take the Eurostar to Paris and then train to Niort. All of this means we can use and enjoy the house more often.
Dilys purchased this Farmhouse in 2015
Why Dilys chose Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud
We fell in love with this house on our first visit. It seemed to offer everything we wanted......plenty of space for our growing family to come and stay and plenty of things for them to do once here. A big garden for our grandsons to kick a football around or practise their cricket. A pool and barbecue to enjoy in summer, a games room for rainy days. We are having a lot of fun getting to know the area, visiting the delightful villages, taking boats, going to the beach and trying restaurants. We like both La Rochelle and Niort. The area provides plenty of opportunities for visting typical French markets and stocking up on fresh produce. And it has its own micro-climate meaning the sun often shines!
What makes this Farmhouse unique
This house is ideal for large family gatherings. It's been rented out to three generations of families coming to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays. But it's also suitable for groups of friends with small children as it can easily sleep 6 adults and 6 children. And we have facilities for babies and toddlers such as a high chair, cots and stair gates. And if you're planning to travel on Brittany Ferries, let us know as we can provide you with a code to get a discount.

We joined "The Gite Set" 7 years ago each has been excellent but yours was the best.
The ingredients for the perfect holiday are a comfortable, well equipped house for the base. Perfect weather (with some spectacular sunrises) , Plenty of places to explore and a lovely swimming pool to come back to in the evening.
Dylis, your farm house has it all. we could not have been happier.
Thank you so much.
We visited La Rochelle,The Ile de Re, paddled our way round the canals from Coulon, explored many villages and churches each with their own story to tell.
Michael Cotsell , Susan Hann & Joc and Christopher Rowe.
Not forgetting Bungee the dog.
Thank you Michael. So glad you and your group had a great holiday in our very special area!
Great holiday in a fantastic property!
We had a fantastic holiday in La Nevoire - 6 adults and 4 children age 6 and under. The property was a brilliant place to stay and had everything we could want. The pool was a great size and also well roped off for when we weren't using it. The games room was fantastic although with the weather being so good we didn't use it a lot, but the kids loved the table football and there were many games to keep them and us entertained! The vast patio area was a great place to eat and the kids to play in the shade.
We didn't venture too far but there are many places around to visit within a short drive. We went to Acais where we hired a boat down the canal which was great (Quieter than Coulon too), and a trip to Chatellion la Plage is worth a visit with a nice beach and promenade.
Jon and Carl who greeted us on arrival were great and Dilys answered all questions we had before the trip which made it so easy to organise.
It was a great place for a relaxing holiday and with so much to keep the kids entertained! Thank you for a brilliant stay!
Thanks Nikki. Lovely to know you had such a good time!
Fantastic 2 weeks. Weather was great, the farmhouse fantastic. A great time had by all.
The farmhouse was wonderful. Plenty of room for 2 families(4 adults, 5 kids). The house was clean, tidy and well equipped upon entry. The pool was in constant use every day and was great for the kids. The table tennis table and games room were a great addition to keep everyone occupied. The local shops were just a short ride away whilst the bigger supermarkets, for an in-depth shop, only a short drive away.
Beautiful large property with an extensive garden and pool. Games room for the children with English free view , pool table and fussball. The patio area is perfect for large family barbecues. The location is an excellent base for trips to local towns and attractions. We visited Niort, surgeres, La Rochelle, il de Rey, Coulon etc etc. We were 5 adults, 4 children and a dog. We had a fantastic holiday. Dilys was great to deal with, as were Carl & John. Many thanks!
Lovely big house in a rural position.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at La Névoire with our children and grandchildren, a party of 10. The pool was in constant use by all generations and the table tennis kept the boys and their fathers busy for hours. We had all our meals outside on the lovely covered terrace. The house was very well equipped, comfortable and had plenty of space. The area offered lots to do such as cycling, boating, trips to the coast etc. I'd like to think we'll come back one day.
Large property with lots of facilities
A family of 9 consisting of 2 grandparents, 4 parents and 3 children aged 5, 7, 9. The children loved the play room which gave the parents time to relax. Everyone enjoyed the table tennis outside. We were fortunate to have hot, sunny weather at May half term so a lot of time was spent in the pool. We were grateful that kitchen equipment was good including dishwashing material, pegs, some sugar, tea, spices left in the cupboard. For us it was a bit remote but that was compensated for by having so much room for us all so that we weren't on top of each other and the children had plenty of room to play. The two gentlemen cleaning the property were very helpful. Thank you Dilys.
The house is set in the middle of the Venise Verte (Green Venice) or the Marais Poitevin, an area renowned for the many streams, rivers and canals that criss-cross the countryside. You are never far from water - and each delightful village has an embarkation point to enable you to take a boat, with or without guide, along the magical waterways. We have a stream at the end of our lane and many more over the road providing lots of walking and cycling paths.
