La Fleurie is a converted barn with 3 en suite bedrooms and a private pool

The Winemaker's House in Mirepeisset has two 3 bedroom Gites both with swimming pools and is an ideal base for exploring the Languedoc- Roussillon area.

LA FLEURIE Gite. Constructed from the Old Barn, LA FLEURIE offers a two-story, 3 bedroom accommodation comfortably sleeping 6, furnished to a high standard. It has shuttered French doors opening from the Courtyard into a spacious and stunning Salon, rising to the roof, featuring the Barn's 400 year-old stone wall.

There are stairs on the side of the living area leading up to a gallery walkway, which leads to and separates the two upstairs bedrooms. Both bedrooms are twin beds with en suite shower, wc, & basin, with velux windows in the old tiled roof.

Off to one side of the living area on the ground floor is the double Master Bedroom with shuttered window and en suite shower/bath, wc, and basin.

The central living area is equipped with comfortable furniture and Cable TV showing free to view UK channels. Full Wi-Fi is also provided.

On the opposite side of the living room is the dining area with table and chairs, and a fully equipped kitchen, with shuttered windows and French doors which lead onto the patio and pool area, reserved for your private use.

The pool is 4 meters x 8 meters ( 12 feet x 24 feet ), and is set in an enclosed landscaped courtyard with a regulation safety fence available. There are tables and chairs, a BBQ, sun beds with comfortable cushions, parasols. There are also pool toys and floats. In order to ensure your privacy, pool and garden maintenance will be done by pre-arrangement with our guests.

About Roger & Jane Hollings

Jane and Roger lived in the UK and bought the Winemaker's House and its two Gites (La Fleurie and Le Fitou) in June 2015 and it is now their permanent home. It fulfils their dream to live in France close to the Med. We have really enjoyed the experience so far, meeting all sorts of interesting and entertaining people; both guests and locals alike.

Roger & Jane Hollings purchased this barn in 2015

Why Roger & Jane Hollings chose Lezignan-Corbieres area

The Languedoc felt right for us from the start. Close to the Mediterranean but not overwhelmed by tourists, the area has an incredible and varied mix of beautiful landscapes and an almost limitless choice of things to do and places to visit. Couple this to friendly locals and great food and wine, the decision was easy.

The Winemakers House ticked all the boxes - characterful, in a great location and with an existing Gite business with the potential to develop further.

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Me, my wife and her Dad, who is 92, were here last year for a week and loved it, so it was great to be back for a fortnight this time. Roger and Jane were pleased to see us and are the perfect hosts.

The upstairs rooms have been much improved by the addition of new windows, making it much brighter.

We have days in around the pool, which Roger keeps spotless and days out visiting the numerous places of interest that are very close at hand.

All in all, another wonderful holiday at La Fleurie, we would strongly recommend it to anyone !

We had a fantastic week at Le Fleurie which is a beautiful big house with everything you could possibly need. The pool area is wonderful and the house is located in a lovely peaceful village in an area with lots to explore. Roger and Jane were terrific hosts who were able to offer lots of helpful advice on the area.

Comfortable accommodation in a beautiful village

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a fabulous 2 weeks at La Fleurie. Jane and Roger were the perfect hosts, making our visit comfortable and with plenty of excellent suggestions for things to do and see. The accommodation was ideal for our family of 4 and the pool appreciated in the high temperatures. The area offered a range of different activities from cycling to canoeing to castles. Would definitely recommend this as a holiday destination.

Idyllic rural France

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week staying in La Fleurie. It is situated in the heart of the the small traditional village, only a short stroll to the local shop or restaurant. The gite is very spacious and extremely well equipped, there is even a cool box for picnics. It was spotlessly clean with tasteful decor/furnishings.The outdoor area is a real treat-we loved having our meals al fresco in the beautifully tended garden.

The village is well situated for exploring the Languedoc area - Les Halles market in Narbonne is worth a visit and there is a plethora of gorgeous villages to discover. It is also a fairly short drive to Mediterranean beaches.

Roger and Jane were welcoming hosts who generously shared information and recommendations on places to visit and dine in the area.

We would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of visiting this varied region of France

Delightful stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at La Fleurie at the best possible time. The weather has been great and so is this wonderful Gite. The accomodation is to a very high standard. There are three en suite bedrooms and the living area spacious. The place is immaculate with modern furnishings and good beds. Very important when there is so much to see and do! The kitchen is well equipped and the garden and pool compact but delightful. Best of all our hosts Roger and Jane could not be more helpful arranging trips to local restaurants kayaking a cruise down the canal and a trip to a vineyard I would have no hesitation recommending this place. Have a great holiday. We did!

Wonderful accomodation and fabulous hosts

  • 5 of 5

Arrived at La fleurie on a damp cool Friday afternoon but after receiving a huge welcome from Jane and Roger it immediately brightened the day. La Fleurie certainly lived up to expectations. Its bright airy spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. The kitchen is very well equipped and welcome food pack provided all we needed for dinner and breakfast the following day. The garden of La Fleurie is secluded and pretty with sunloungers, bbq and patio table and chairs and its own pool. Couldnt have wished for better accomodation.

The village of Mirepeisset is a great base for exploring this beautiful area of France. La Taverna serves great food and you can buy everything you need in the local shop run by Lydia. Fresh croissants and bread for breakfast is a must! Larger supermarket is about a 10 min drive away. A walk along the Canal Du Midi to Le Somail is well worth the trip. Le Somail is beautiful with great restaurants and the most amazing bookshop.

A wonderful stay and cant wait to make a return visit

The Winemaker's House in Mirepeisset has two 3 bedroom Gites both with swimming pools and is an ideal base for exploring the Languedoc- Roussillon area.

The village has a general store providing all your basic needs including fresh bread and croissants and has two restaurants (one open all year round).

Close by is the historic village of Le Somail on the Canal du Midi with several restaurants to chose from (as well as a wonderful old book shop!).

In Ginestas - three kilometres away - you can find a bank, pharmacy and more restaurants.

A large Intermarche super market with 24/7 fuel is only 5 minutes away.

The ancient city of Narbonne is just a 15 km drive. Well worth a visit for its Roman road, cathedral, canal and famous covered market.

Carcassonne is a favourite destination with its old fortified city that has starred in many a film. It is an easy 40 minute drive.

The Mediterranean is only 30-40 minutes away and there are several great beaches within easy reach - Gruissan, Narbonne Plage, La Franqui and Leucate to name but a few.

For the slightly more adventurous there is kayaking in Roquebrun on the River Orb. (This is highly recommended from personal experience) as well as white water rafting in the Pyrenees.

Another must see are the Cathar Castles. Quiberus and Peyrepertuse are two spectacular examples and are an hour or so away.

Let's not forget the wine. Languedoc Roussillon is the biggest wine producing area in France with many famous names - Fitou, Minervois, Corbieres and St Chinian. Mirepeisset has its own domain - Les Herbes Saintes.

Bike rides (bike hire can easily be arranged), horse riding, walking, boat trips on the Canal du Midi are all readily available. A typical comment from our guests is that there is so much to do they will have to come back!
